a while back I reblogged a post pointing out that it's totally reasonable to have a crush on someone and just Not Act On It, Ever, At All, and I cannot stop thinking about the sweet souls in the notes who seemed baffled as to why anyone would ever want to leave a crush unspoken. absolutely fascinating life experience you must be having if that's not a possibility that's ever even cropped up, I have to say. And I’m so excited to share a little concept for an original project I’ve been working on, set in 1760’s France and loosely based off of the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan and the conspiracies surrounding it. Ok so I recently got into Dungeon Crawler Carl and I can't go into the tags yet because I'm only like 4 books in but. In book 2 when we meet Signet. "Very cool woman who is deeply loyal to her incredibly messed up mind-control-themed circus who has tattoos that can come to life and fight on her behalf" is 100% a character I have encountered before in Danny Phantom. I dread to think that Butch Hartman came up with something that cool independently so I have to know. What was the original character of this archetype. Who was she.

I mean, 'tattooed woman' was a stock circus sideshow. 'Magic tattoos' has to be a trope that's older than dirt. I know there was a guy in Elektra (2005) that had the same power (no circus though). I haven't heard of anything quite so similar older than that, though.
