I spent 3 hours on this
LETS PLAY A GAME. Itās called: Who directed it TIM BURTON or HENRY SELICK
Weāll start with the 2009 Laika film Coraline based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. Do you know who directed it? Burton or Selick?
Did you guess yet?
If you guessed Henry Selick, you would be correct. Tim Burton actually had absolutely nothing to do with Coraline at all in anyway ever. Reminder: Tim Burton has NOTHING to do with Coraline. At all. But that was an easy one. Letās go to the Walt Disney Pictures adaptation of Roald Dahlās novel,Ā James and the Giant Peach next.
Think you got it? Are you sure? Better double checkā¦
Oh, look. Itās Henry Selick again! Tim Burton actually interacted with this project, though only as a producer. Bet that was tricky⦠Next one! Letās go to the Disney/Touchstone Pictures film Tim Burtonās The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Have you guessed it correctly? Have you really?
Yep thatās right. Even Tim Burtonās The Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Henry Selick. Though Burton wrote the poem and created the characters in which Nightmare was based he didnāt have much interaction with the project beyond that. At the time he had already signed off to direct the film Batman ReturnsĀ and did not want to be involved with the āpainstakingly slow process of stop-motion animation.ā
Looks like it was a trick quiz. But now you know Henry Selick, whom people rarely know of is responsible for many of the most well known stop-motion animated films. The more you know!
This isnāt even being qeued. This is just being reblogged, because some of you still donāt understand who directed Coraline.
You guys donāt understand, Henry Selick was so happy and so incredibly nice and grateful that there was a festival solely dedicated to the art of Stop Motion and that he was an invited guest. He was treated like a superstar in his craft, and he was absolutely surprised.
All stop motion animators were actually. So please please please, appreciate this guy and his hard work in his key role at keeping stopmotion animation alive and well today.
My boyfriend wonāt stop talking to me about whether or not I would eat PokĆ©mon steaks. We think maybe Mr. Mime steaks would have white meat and ooze a purple liquid. I feel like youāre the only one qualified to tell us more
listen the ONLY part of a mr mime thats edible are the red spots, and thats ONLY after being properly cooked - if you bite into any part of their body while its still raw youll suffer near immediate food poisoning
luckily, just like red kidney beans, the potential toxins are easily to remove provided you take the right steps
once theyve been safely removed from their inedible surroundings, the larger red spheres are ready to begin working with - its worth noting that the smaller spots on the hands and cheeks also fall into this category, but theyre almost always too small to be considered harvesting by most professionalsĀ
youll want to start by cutting away any flesh thats still directly touching the pale parts; when in doubt, a wider cut is always preferred. better safe than sorry ! one benefit of working with mr mimes is that, along with many others in their typing, their bodies are held together with physic energy and thus dont require deboning
the next part is going to require boiling in a large pressure cooker- some may find it a challenge to to find a pot big enough to host all the parts, so cooking them individually is fine. remember to follow the instructions to the letter
after theyve been removed and dried, an easy way to text if theyre safe to eat is to cut them in half and check the spongy center - a darkened purple core means theyve been boiled long enough, while any lighter, greenish tints means you probably needed a bit more time
once theyre out of the danger range, you can now safely use them in variety of dishes ! their almost mushroom-like texture means they absorb flavors well, and pictured above is one of my personal favorites
THIS guy though, you can just pop em into your mouth whole. its fine
its fine
its fine

I love this!
The way in the last half a second it starts walking and you can hear his scream really ties this video together
Worked on this girl for 9 months. Now this new music video comes out and sheās immensely popular, arguably one of the most popular characters in the LoL universe.
Donāt get me wrong, Iām really glad sheās a huge hit, itās super exciting to see so many people love the character design and the gameplay, and know that I contributed directly and significantly to the behind-the-scenes engineering that makes it all work. Itās validating.
But itās also so fucking melancholy to know I did so much work and put in so much time for such a shitty company, run by shitty people, and the reward I got for it was unemployment.Ā
I threw a lot into this character. I cried at work. I started getting panic attacks, which Iāve never gotten before.Ā I developed persistent heart palpitations from the daily overwhelming stress and had to go to the hospital (this is true, seriously.) I basically dropped all my friends outside of work. My manager (and his manager!) lied to me constantlyĀ to keep me working. They said I was doing a great job but to keep it up. Donāt worry, itās going to turn out great, and itāll all be worth it in the end ā recognition, a raise, probably a promotion in short order. They promised me the world. When she was finally finished, I didnāt even get to go to the release party, they just walked me out.Ā
I remember a quote from my last day, it sticks out in my mind: āI know you realize this is really hard for me,ā my manager said. Yes, in the end, when he awkwardly informed me I didnāt have my dream job anymore ā or any job at all ā and then stared back at my shell-shocked face, my thousand-yard stare, the only thing he felt was sorry for himself.
She launched with no major bugs and was considered a technical success. Doesnāt matter. Get the fuck out.
I donāt know how I feel. A weird sensation of pride and intense bitterness. I did a good job; at least, I think I did. Unfortunately, internal validation is the only kind Iām going to get.
Everyone reposting KDA should see this. Riot has successfully distracted everyone into forgetting their culture of sexism, exploitation, and toxicity mere months after it was all revealed.
Look, I get it. Akali is EXTREMELY my type. Itās obvious how much love and care was put into her development. But it makes me furious to see all the free advertising that Riot is getting from people who I thought would know better.Ā And now? One of the people who is arguably responsible for all that free advertising? Whoās work is undoubtedlyĀ making Riot hundreds of thousands of dollars a day? Who was overworked to the point of near breaking? They get nothing. WORSE than the scant bit of credit that most devs can get in a big company like Riot. They got let go.
Fuck Riot Games.
One thing that I thought really sucked a lot is that the production company who made the KDA video isnāt even credited. They credit a lotĀ of other people on their videos, usually, but the actual animators of the video are hidden; almost a lie by omission. At best itās a honest mistake, at worst itās sneakily trying to pass off the video as something made in-house when itās not. :(
Well that puts a big dampener on my love for this music video, gosh dang =/ I canāt imagine ANY studio seeing the work put into that very, very, VERY good music video and then letting talent like that get away from them, let alone showing them the door. Iād heard that RIOT had some trouble but this is horrible.
post apoc media is always banging on about the necessity of macho survival skills but frankly itās the gardeners/farmers who know 150 preservation techniques for winter beets and who understand the art of good pH balance in compost who will survive on our non energy dependent farms while you all butcher each other with katanas in burnt out shopping centres
