Hi! I think this is in reference to the Kitty endpapers for the trade edition of Last King of Faerie? They are so pretty.

So, the choice to have Kit and Ty on the endpapers is because half the book is about them. I was so puzzled by the phrase "Dru and Kit book" that I thought we were discussing a different project and I couldn't figure out what it was! I think it's Last King of Faerie, but I would never think of it as a Dru and Kit book. For one thing, that sounds like they're dating, which I think we can all agree would be a bad idea!

For another, Ty and Ash are just as important character-wise. We spend less time in their heads (although we do see from both POVs) but that is not a marker of how important a character is but rather a marker of what secrets people are keeping.

That's a very kind way to ask :) While I can't say what happens, Kit and Ty have countless scenes together. Other than maybe the first chapter or two of the book, before Ty arrives at Cirenworth, they are together in every scene that either one of them is in. Except sometimes one of them goes to the bathroom. I hope we will not judge them for being apart at those moments. :)

Kit and Ty are just as important as Dru and Ash and they get just as much page time, in fact, if you're counting pages they get maybe ten more. But I do think when you've come down to counting pages it may be more of an anxiety exercise than anything else!

I am sure there will be lots of Kitty artwork. I will certainly commission art, but most art is at the whim of the fanartists of our lovely fandom. I do not think they will let you down.

There are other editions with other endpapers that are not Kit and Ty — there's Dru and Ash, there's Livvy, there's the Seelie Court. But the main and most common edition you'll find is Kitty and we chose that because half the book is their story.

Are we going to see Ty learn about autism?

You won't see him learn it so much as he already knows about it. In the first scene with him, he discusses what it means for him in terms of his work at the Scholomance, and we later see him thinking about and discussing what it is like in terms of being a neurodivergent Shadowhunter. Kit has also read a ton about it as has Ty's whole family. He does explain why he does things a certain way sometimes, but never to anyone who has no context for it. It's more a "this is me and how I do things" — he never feels bad about it, and never has to excuse any part of himself. There are ways in which it makes him a better Shadowhunter, and that's explored a bit too.

In an AU where Tomura Shigaraki survived the final AFO takeover, leaving his body broken and quirkless, he resides in a rehab facility where he rests. Deku visits weekly, and though Tomura would prefer he were left alone with a life that is finally his own, he humors it. I drew this comic last year, but I rewrote and redrew some of the faces I wasn't really proud of at the time. Even back in 2021, I was imagining this comic. I saw AFO as a cancer, and as a survivor myself, all I wanted was to give Tomura peace, even with the pain.

Deku and Bakugou mer arrive the next morning somehow unsurprised by the chaos.

the thing that bothers me in this official English translation is how they actually are pushing the romance narrative all over. its not just one phrase, they kept adding stuff that sure, can be originally read like that, you can make a romantic reading, but leaving no other option. For example, instead of talking about living her life how she wants, Toga is saying how she has a life to live and love love, deku says he wants to talk more and going forward wants more with her (as clearly, separated topics), I would say they tamed Himiko's declaration of love towards Ochako, and even Ochako answers Deku with "the feeling is mutual" (which actually sounds so weird in English).

We can read romance here and sure, all of these changes were in the text and is normal to lose something when translating, but I do believe there was an intention to make it exclusively about romantic feelings between the het ship, so is less likely ppl made platonic or other types of readings. Basically, they took all the ambiguity the mangaka keeps pushing in interviews about it lol.

Im actually wondering about other changes in this translation we dont know about yet, im still really petty about what they did with "give him hell" or Mitsuki saying "Midoriya".

Why is it that every time there is a new translation that comes out, people act like the known issues with translations are brand new and we have to rehash them all over again? Look, if you care about accuracy, learn Japanese. Most people don't care about accuracy. Most people will read whatever the fuck they want into anything anyways. It doesn't matter how accurately you try to communicate. As an autistic person, it happens to me all the fucking time. People assume I mean so many things I never say. This is why ambiguity interests me and I notice it. You get to have your reading. Make it count. Stop caring about everyone else's.

Like seriously, I am not on Twitter and I haven't seen these leaks. But I never say anything different from what I'm saying now. What the fuck do y'all want me to do about it? I genuinely have no idea what you expect me to say. I'm not even fluent in Japanese, just conversational-ish. You want me to shit on another translator, the official one who has better Japanese skills than me, for doing his best with what he's given? Horikoshi wrote what he wrote and drew what he drew and it was mid all around. There's no rehabilitating it. I don't care if a "canon" pairing comes out of it. It's not compelling. It's not interesting. It's practically insulting. The translation doesn't fucking change that. The translators are doing their best with the mess they've been given. I'm so sick of talking about it. I'm not a fan of 431, so I'm spending all my energy on the actually decent story that came before.

You saw my translations. You know what was essentially said in 431. You're just gonna have to live with your reading of it and the fact that other people won't share it. Getting upset over translations of an extra chapter that was already shitty in its much more fundamental elements is such a waste of time for me. Like even the BakuDeku elements are just kinda like, REALLY DUDE? Izuku spent 8 years completely clueless of how to act like a decent guy to the people he loves? Katsuki had to fucking spell it out to him after all that time? He kept quiet THAT LONG? KACCHAN??? And Izuku's arguably romantic feelings for Ochako were so insignificant he didn't think about them or act on them for 8 years? Like what the fuck. It's so arbitrary and stupid. Horikoshi just wanted to draw them as adults when it happened and didn't give a flying shit about the gaping chasm he left in his story's believability. Why would I care what the English translation says when there's plenty about the Japanese version to roll my eyes at as it is? I DO NOT CARE. I HAVE NO INTEREST IN COMPLAINING ABOUT CALEB COOK. LET THE MAN DO HIS JOB AND MOVE ON WITH HIS LIFE.

Talk to me about shit that's ACTUALLY interesting and fun or else leave me the fuck alone too. Stop letting leaks of FUCKING CHAPTER 431 THAT NO ONE LIKES ANYWAYS ruin Baku-Easter!!!!
