Whence comes my salvation?
From the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth and all created things
As the mountains surround Jerusalem
So the Lord surrounds His people
Surround, suround, as mountains He surrounds His people
O Lord, O Lord, from now till forevermore

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Translated from The Nightingale, Deborah Henson-Conant
Who will sing for the Nightingale
when the night is gone;
when the daylight comes.
Who will sing for the Nightingale
when she sleeps alone in the sun?
Many's the time her silken tones
soothed my rough and weary bones
Many's the time her lullabye
brought me to my rest.
But who will sing for the Nightindale?
Her own sweet song is silent now
Who will sing for the Nightingale
when she sleeps alone in the sun?

Come Home with Me
Follow me, O starlight, by the waters to the great sea
Follow me, O starlight, over the white waves far from the East
Leave to the trees forest old
Leave to the beasts twilight cold
But you, O my starlight, come home with me
Follow me now into everlasting peace.

Tolkien's Translation
The Elves were ambidexters; consequently the left hand was not to them evil in their imaginations. On the contrary, for if one turned the face westwards as was usual, the left hand pointed away from Melkor in the North, and if northwards, it pointed towards Aman the Blessed Land.

Translated from Goodness of God, by Bethel Music
I love You, Lord
For your mercy never fails me
All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the Goodness of God
.
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest night You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I’ve known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the Goodness of God
.
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
.
All my life You have been faithful,
All my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the Goodness of God

Translated from Silmarillion 23 Of Tuor and the Fall of Gondolin
Then Turgon pondered long the counsel of Ulmo, and there came into his mind the words that were spoken to him in Vinyamar: ' Love not too well the work of thy hands and the devices of thy heart; and remember that the true hope of the Noldor lieth in the West, and cometh from the Sea.' But Turgon was become proud, and Gondolin as beautiful as a memory of Elven Tirion... and at the last he rejected the bidding of Ulmo and refused his counsel. But in the warning of the Vala he heard again the words that were spoken before the departing Noldor on the coast of Araman long ago; and the fear of treason was awakened in Turgon's heart.

The Story of Libai
When Libai was young, he was very lazy. Every day he did not want to study. One day he saw an elderly woman who was holding an iron rods and grinding it slowly. He was astounded by it in his heart, so he went to ask her about it. She said she needed to grind for a needle. Libai heard but did not believe, for he thought that the iron rod is big and strong but the needle is small, and therfore she would not finish it in all her life. She said if she kept on doing it, certainly the iron rod would become a needle. Libai was very moved by her words. Afterwards he studied much harder, and at last became a famous poet all because of her good teaching.

Translated from Silmarillion, Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age
... the power of the Three Rings also was ended, and to the Firstborn the world grew old and grey. In that time the last of the Noldor set sail from the Havens and left Middle-earth forever. And latest of all the keepers of the three rings rode to the Sea, and Master Elrond took there the ship that Círdan had made ready. In the twilight of autumn it sailed out of Mithlond, until the seas of the bent World fell away beneath it, and the winds of the round sky troubled it no more, and borne upon the high airs above the mists of the world it passed into the Ancient West, and an end was come for the Eldar of story and of song.

Dream of a Mortal Man
People said life is like a dream, but I said dream is like a life.
In a short flash, you rejoice and you are excited.
In a swift act, you grieve and you are bitter.
In a short life, there is gathering, and there is parting.
In a swift act, there is aging and there is youth.
The glory of kings, the poverty of beggars.
The white snow in the mountaintop, the glimmering jewels under the sea.
When you wake up from your dream, you have already walked to the end of your life.
