I've returned! I didn't plan on returning till after my semester was over, but I have been really, really into writing and art recently. I've especially been writing for E926 and developing the storylines, some concepts, and just having fun with it overall. It's been great! I hope to be back to doing this more frequently soon.
(Anything marked with * will be further expanded upon at the end)
Anyways! Let's talk about these two new characters!
Evil Eye and The Notre Dame* are two anomalous humans who will eventually create a sanctuary for anomalies with traits that society sees as 'unfit'. They found each other after they were both kidnapped by a government organization* where they shared a cell together.
Darcy Mae, otherwise known as Evil Eye, was in her late teens when her power presented itself. At that time, Darcy was going through the process of seeking out a diagnosis for mental health issues when her anomaly suddenly triggered. While being treated in a hospital, Darcy discovered her 'Fear Gaze.'*
Darcy's Fear Gaze has three main symptoms, all triggered by her ability to see and therefore prevented through the use of a blindfold. The first two symptoms occur randomly, with no warning, which led to a blindfold being a constant in Darcy's life.
The first one is a massive, prolonged blast of flaming energy that causes anyone caught in it to experience traumatic flashbacks and burns that are always proportional to the severity of the individual's trauma. This was the first symptom of Darcy's anomaly to present itself.
The second symptom is the involuntary projection of Darcy's visual hallucinations as real, physical flaming entities. While the blindfold does not prevent Darcy from having hallucinations, it does prevent them from being projected outside of her blindfold.
The final symptom is the only one that Darcy can trigger. Darcy is able to project flaming entities that take the form of a target's greatest fears, as long as it has a physical body and can attack the target. So while Darcy cannot project a 'fear of being alone' on someone, she could summon a projection of spiders, doctors, snakes, dentists, monsters, or even an abuser.
Before meeting Notre Dame, Darcy spent most of her life in a hospital trying to manage her schizophrenia and learning how to live as if she were blind.
Elena Thomas, otherwise known as The Notre Dame, comes from a family with a rare generational anomaly, which possibly started the legend of 'vampires' in the first place. Not much is known about her, and by that I mean I haven't spent as much time on her backstory just yet.
Anyways, Elena's anomaly does not perfectly mimic vampirism. Elena does need blood to survive, but if she kills the individual that she is drinking from, then she gains the ability to take on their appearance. This also allows her to walk in the sun when she is wearing someone, which would otherwise severely burn her.
Other traits of her anomaly include super strength, super durability, super endurance, inability to sleep (and not needing it), not needing oxygen, and bat-like wings that protrude from her elbows, which allow her to fly, but not if she is wearing someone.
Okay, I think that's it! Thank you for reading, and please drink some water <3 I hope this all made sense, but reality is a lie, so who knows.
Notre Dame* I marked this to point out that I think I like this name, but am not totally sure if I want to keep it because it doesn't make much sense if you think about it too hard. However, apparently, Notre Dame translates to 'Our Lady', like the Virgin Mary, which makes me want to keep it.
Government Organization* This is vague on purpose!! I have plans, and I know who the government organization is! I'm just not ready to present them.
Fear Gaze* Not totally sure about the name? I like it, but it feels a bit basic, and I literally came up with it while writing this.
