A Sugar Baby’s Guide to a Luxury Wardrobe and Brands

Disclaimer: This is my own opinion, and you are free to disagree! I am not being sponsored or gifted items by any of these brands (I wish!). I am simply just trying to share some of my style tips based off of my own wardrobe :) xo

Will continue to update as I think of more things! This was just off the top of my head. Feel free to send in suggestions, if I use it I will give you credit when I edit the post! Questions also welcome.

Although I am relatively new to the sugar bowl, dressing stylishly and well is something I have done all of my life. I hope my advice can help others! A top, big fish SD is going to dress well, and he’s going to want his SB to do the same. You must exude confidence and style for him to want to pursue you.

Basics: T-shirts & Tank Tops - ATM (wonderfully flattering, especially for bigger busts), T by Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang, James Perse Jeans - rag&bone/JEAN, J Brand, Citizens of Humanity, 7 for all Mankind, J Brand, Current/Elliott, AG Adriano Goldschmidt. Yes I love my denim :) Anything with a blatant logo on it like True Religion is a NONO. Shirts - Equipment Sweatpants - I used to absolutely detest sweatpants but after seeing photos of Rihanna and Gigi rock them, I’m kind of into it. Have my eye on a pair from Fenty X Puma now!

Lingerie: Agent Provocateur (DUH) has the most sexy pieces, they make you feel wonderful about yourself, however I would only wear their stuff to show off for my man. Their bras, corsets, bustiers etc. don’t give much support so if you’re just wearing them trying to run errands your boob may pop out of its cup lol! Very annoying to constantly keep having to tuck it back in under your shirt.

I have quite a large bust, so I shop at Journelle, Stella McCartney, Elle Macpherson, Nancymeyer.com and Chantelle because a lot of other nice brands don’t make my size as much (32DD/E) - these are for sexier but still functional pieces.

Calvin Klein and Victoria’s Secret for the most functional underwear. Hanky Panky has great one size fits most thongs, and Commando for underwear for a tight dress or something that gives NO VPL (visible panty lines!)

Shoes: Sneakers (for fashion, not the gym) - Golden Goose, Common Projects Sneakers (for the gym) - Nike Gianvito Rossi - The new Manolo in my opinion. Not as overdone and not flashy like Louboutins. Wonderfully classic. Something I’d wear to a dream job interview or meeting a boyfriend’s parents. Louboutins - even though they’re a bit trashy now I still love the sex appeal of a red bottom.. who can resist? Rochas does beautifully embellished flats that you can wear with a cocktail dress if you aren’t feeling heels! K. Jacques for flat sandals. Made in St. Tropez but they sell it on Shopbop etc. Chanel and Lanvin for ballet flats Love Stuart Weitzman’s highland and lowland boots, even though it seems like everyone and their mother owns a pair. They’re just so flattering and I love that they have them in so many neutral colors. I like Saint Laurent’s basic flat Chelsea ankle boots. Go with everything in the fall.

Dresses: Dolce & Gabbana - I LOVE Dolce & Gabbana!! As I said I am quite curvy, and their dresses are absolutely made for my body type. Cushnie et Ochs - Also sexy AF Giambattista Valli - When you want to look like an elegant, high fashion flower child Saint Laurent - SO expensive, more for the extremely thin Kate Moss types, but I just like to look anyways :) Less expensive but still great: Zimmermann (love Aussie clothing brands), Wheels&Dollbaby, Nicholas, L’Agent, Reformation, For Love & Lemons, Maje

Sweaters: Ralph Lauren, Loro Piana, Brunello Cucinelli J Crew, Joie, Vince and Everlane (cheaper)

Coats/Jackets: Maxmara for the elegant, most classic pieces EDIT 10/9/2016: Maxmara carries very well-cut and stylishly professional coats. Think Olivia Pope-esque. This is also where Kim K got her iconic camel wrap coat and yes, they still carry it. I have one! AllSaints for a great rocker chic leather biker jacket - try a mens one to increase the cool factor Rick Owens - Also great for leather jackets, but more elegant and definitely more expensive Chanel: Their tweed jackets and coats are ultimate and so timeless- wear one with a simple white t shirt, jeans and booties to achieve that Parisian je ne sais quoi. Yves Salomon does a great fur coat, EDIT 10/9/2016: that isn’t AS expensive as other top fur designers… think $5000-$10,000 which is still mega expensive but still far cheaper than J Mendel whose furs can fetch up to 60k (or even more)! and the quality is still great. I used to get Elizabeth and James furs for like a $1000 but tbh they looked cheap. I think if you can’t afford good fur, it’s best to spend on other areas, because cheap fur just makes you look, well, cheap!

Bags: Chanel. Duh. Never used to like Gucci but their new horsebit Dionysus bags (in plain suede without the Gucci logo) are to die for Valentino Rockstud (a little bit passé but I still like mine) Mansur Gavriel for something timeless and not too flashy Saint Laurent for a tote bag. If you’re young, in my opinion this is a much better alternative than an Hermes Birkin or Kelly. I think for a young girl to be carrying a Birkin is a little bit… much. Although if you have found an SD who will buy you a Birkin then I say the more power to you, you’re clearly doing much better than me and feel free to ignore my advice - if fact can I have your advice?? lol

You put a 50% deposit down when you place the order at first, and pay the rest a few months later when the clothing piece is completed. I trick myself into believing that it’s budgeting, lol. Farfetch Shopbop Revolve Clothing TheRealReal (You can get some GREAT designer pre-owned and vintage on the cheap here, AND sell your old designer stuff you don’t want anymore! Note they only accept from a preselected list of designers, check that your item’s brand is on the list before sending anything in to sell) Vestiaire Collective (same as theRealReal) Forward by Elyse Walker SSENSE TheOutNet (Net-a-porter’s sale site. I’ve found some fantastic deals here. But be sure to check everyday because they definitely sell out fast) Barneys, Saks, Selfridges, Bergdorfs etc. - I know these are department stores, but their websites are surprisingly well-maintained and carry a really good stock of stuff from top designers.

SB Banking Tips

Banking seems to be a common trouble spot sugar babies. I’ll share some of my tips for making cash deposits and what types of accounts are most beneficial for sugar babies.

Info

-The bank is required to automatically flag any deposit over $10,000.

-If you deposit $2,000 five times in one day, you’ll still get flagged.

-Any deposit the bank deems to be suspicious will be flagged.

-You only report interest paid to the IRS if your account is interest bearing. This means, if you have a savings account or an interest bearing checking account, you will accrue interest and must report this on your taxes.

-Most accounts require the owner to have a certain amount of money in the account or a penalty must be paid. Some banks will let you set up alerts to guard against this.

-Any one person may give you a gift of $14,000 per year without having to pay a gift tax.

-The giver of the gift is responsible to pay the gift tax, not the receiver. However, arrangements can be made if necessary.

-If you have cash that you don’t want to deposit, get a safe. A really, really good safe. One that is fire proof, water proof, etc. You don’t want your hard earned money to go to waste.

Tips

-Set up accounts at multiple banks. Banks do not communicate with one another and this allows you to make smaller deposits more frequently.

-Do not deposit the same exact amount each time.

-Mix the deposits. In some cases, I will deposit cash and personal checks not related to sugaring.

-Look like you have money. I always dress nicely, have my makeup done, wear some jewelry. If you are dressed in sweats and UGGs, it may seem a bit suspicious.

-Visit the same branch and make friends with the tellers. Always be polite, chatty, and smile. They will get to know you as a regular customer and trust you. If they know you regularly make larger deposits, they won’t be suspicious.

-Find banks that have ATMs that will immediately deposit your cash. I know newer PNC banks have these ATMs. This allows you to make deposits after hours and no teller is present. These transactions are not flagged unless they exceed the $10,000 limit.

Bullshitting Men 101

There are few things I’m good at in life and this is one of them. So I’m going to share.

As a platonic sugar baby for the longest (and technically still one) I feel like it’s super important to know how to bullshit. And no I don’t mean “rinsing” or promising sex when you have no intention of giving it so miss me with the bullshit.

I feel like a lot of girls say that these men don’t care what your major is in school or your interest or what you do. Which honestly in my experience isn’t true. Men care especially if it relates to them. With that said I’m not saying try to impress them or pretend to be into something you’re not because you should never. That’s just asking to embarrass yourself. But for example if your SD or POT is into business which a lot of them are and you just happen to be a business major use the fuck out of that. Men love to talk about themselves. So when he tells you he manages a entertainment company. You say “Wow. That’s actually really interesting. I’d would love to do something like that. What it’s like?” but the thing about bullshit is you have to make it sound genuine. Don’t be over dramatic, be casual as fuck, smile, look impressed, Basically just stroke him and by him I mean his ego. (and maybe his dick too if you’re into that)

Don’t be over impressed by things but always be grateful When he takes you out for dinner somewhere expensive and you get the bill don’t take a picture (if you do not when he’s around) if you happen to look at the check and see something crazy play it off and smile. I used to be like “Oh wow babe. We did good. It’s not too bad, right?” Pay attention to his reaction because it’ll tell you a lot. Men are easy to read so you can tell the difference between a fake yeah and a genuine one. After he pays make sure you tell him how thankful you are for him taking you out how you love the restaurant how he has such great taste in restaurants.

When you act happy and mildly impressed with men it makes them want to do more. So for example following these two tips (in my experience) it’s gotten me invited to work related events. Work related events= new outfits

So the breakdown is this: He likes his job (or the ‘prestige’ of his title at least) you act intrigued, he tries to show it off. (sidenote: these events will probably be boring as shit. But there’s always booze and you have an excuse to get new clothes)

Be arm candy as fuck it sounds stupid (because it is) but part of being platonic is doing a lot of extra shit just because. When he has job events, vacations, meetings, drinks with friends/co workers. That’s your time. Why? Because men love showing off their 20 something year old girlfriend around their old ass friends and their friends old ass wives. (sidenote 2: you’ll probably hear some things that make you want to throw drinks in someone’s face. try not to.) Being arm candy leads to a number of things one being more clothes and two being cosmetic things. I’ve had guys buy me dresses, hair extensions, and cosmetic treatments like microdermabrasion, overpriced mask, and a bunch of other shit that I don’t need. Mind you you don’t really have to get these things done you can just tell them you are and keep the money.

So the breakdown: He asks you to go to a gala and you say “I’d love to but I feel really awkward about my skin or something. I really need a _______” or “I love to but I have nothing to wear” etc. etc. etc. Granted this doesn’t work for anything major like plastic surgery (at least not for me maybe you can get it)

Lastly a big part of platonic relationships or bullshitting sugar relationships in general is that these men feel like a mentor (no really. I’ve been told “I love being able to mentor you.”) He probably won’t pay you for that but he’ll pay for you. In the past SD’s love paying off loans, paying for your textbooks, paying for school supplies (computers, clothes, bags, iPads, etc) They also love paying to travel and help you see the world or at least some of the country. (I’ve always been too pussy to travel out of the country with a SD or to a state I have no friends but maybe you’re not.) One of my SD’s had a company in Silicon Valley and he wanted to take me to show me how things worked. If you’re into fashion and so is your SD try to bullshit yourself to a trip to New York. If you are like me and you’re afraid of traveling with an SD and your school has study abroad than use that. (Which i’ll be doing this summer) Downside: You’ll have to live on a campus Upside: It’s cheaper and you can keep the extra money you don’t spend.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. But you get the idea

Dear sick Kitties, Please save this to your computer because one day you might be well enough to work in some capacity and it’s unfair for you to have blank spots on your resume/CV. You have worth and validity even if you don’t have a huge work history. YOU have value.

This is mostly really good, but I have a couple minor disagreements. So…here are three recommendations from an HR person who reads a shitton of resumes every day:

Move the skills section up to the top! You know what I give a fuck about the most when I’m reading a resume (at least for entry-level positions)? WHAT YOU CAN DO. I frankly don’t give a shit where you learned it. Tell me what you’re capable of in concrete terms, organized in a bullet-points list or table that I can quickly scan to see if you even stand a chance of matching what we need, because that is all I’m doing in those critical first couple of seconds that decides whether I even bother looking at the rest of the resume. (Which I get sounds kinda callous but when I have to get through a couple dozen resumes, meaning download, open, read, decide what to do, forward it to the appropriate person if it makes the cut with my comments/summary/recommendations, file it appropriately and go on to the next one, and get back to my other duties and responsibilities - which I don’t have enough hours in the day for as it is - I can’t afford to depth-read every single resume that hits my inbox.)

Include volunteer experience as work experience if you have any. Running the concession stand at a high school club event of some kind counts as cash handling and customer service experience. Making blog themes for your friends counts as web design experience. Just because you weren’t getting paid doesn’t mean it wasn’t work experience you can potentially leverage to get actual paying work.

Rework that top statement - in its current form it’s looking like some odd hybrid of an executive summary (good!) and an objective statement (bad!), and I’m not sure how I feel about it tbh. I think it’s the “leveraging…to positively contribute” bit that is pushing all my “ugh no fucking shit sherlock” buttons. Like…what were you going to say, that you want to skate along doing the bare minimum amount of work and you don’t give a shit about the organization’s goals? I see way too many regurgitated statements like that - “positively contribute” and “maximize success” and “utilize my skills to further goals” etc. - and they just make my eyes roll out of my head at this point because they’re so generically corporate. I’d rather see a declarative statement about what you are and what you can do, than what you want.

However, huge massive bonus points for putting language fluency right there at the top where I don’t have to go hunting for it - language skills are ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS A PLUS and you want to highlight that shit as hard as you can. Shove that language fluency in my fucking face, PLEASE. Better that than having to scour your work history for mention of translation or anything like that, which I will only do if I’m A: already liking your qualifications so far, and B: totally fucking desperate for someone who speaks goddamn Spanish already.
