I am not part of the project hail mary fandom and know nothing about it, yet it's all over my feed. Here's what I've gathered so far:

mc looks like he did crack in college and would probably throw hands with his 86 y/o professor for forcing certain beliefs in the classroom. he would lose and whine about it.

there's a silly little rock thing that is really good friends with the mc and has very little understanding of exactly how humans work. would panic if it saw synchronized swimming

they're in space I think. maybe.

As someone in the phm fandom they are indeed in space. Also, these are hilarious, maybe not fully accurate to canon but when is anything in a fandom fully accurate in terms of characterization. Beautiful.

one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(

been playing a video game with my housemates lately and the other night I was trying to persuade my boyfriend in law to join me in hunting for the current boss in an underwater temple map and I truly got like. possessed. started out going "come on brother... it's all fine in the brine... we're all set in the wet..." and ended up saying shit like "nobody's frantic in the Atlantic... it's always mail call at the whale fall..." truly incomprehensible

The thing about my nonbinarity, and about the nonbinarity of many others, is that I am neither transitioning for the primary purpose of appearing androgynous or "neutral", nor am I transitioning for the primary purpose of becoming masculine or feminine. I am transitioning to look like me.

It so happens that I am surrounded by a society that attributes certain traits of me to one gender or another and judges me accordingly. But I detest that classification, and the fact that I possess some similarities to one or the other of the boxes does not mean I want someone to put me in one and tell me that the walls of that box are the limits of what I am allowed to be. I reject the premise that "masculinity" and "femininity" are packages bought wholesale that are innate to your being. I reject the premise that I have to shove myself into a label. My primary label is that I am me; everything else is secondary, is an approximation for the sake of others. That is what I need others to understand.
