Deadlines, crafts and time for rest🍂

So, didn’t post for like… six weeks. Life got really busy and my motivation for my assignments absolutely tanked. It was probably a combination of getting sick (haven’t beent this sick in YEARS), being overwhelmed and honestly? The state of the world. But, this is my comfy corner of the internet, so this is what I did do and what I am proud of the last few weeks.

I finished my Sunflowers cross stitch piece!! Still need to iron and finish it off, but this was such a fun kit to do. (I’ll post that later once I’ve got a good picture!)

Went on a week long holiday to Switzerland and got the most gorgeous view in Luzern

Made my november spread yesterday!

I didn’t read as much as I wanted to, but I did finish Glorious Rivals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, I flew through that book and it’s so ridiculous it’s just a fun read. Looking forward to the next one!

Took loads of walks. Autumn is my favourite season, and it’s been an absolute joy to see the colours on the trees change and kicking my boots in the crunchy leaves.

This week I am off, due to finished deadlines and my plans are reading loads, being crafty, cleaning my room and going to the library and bookstore. Have a lovely week and take care of yourselves✨

Working on papers, cross stitch and lots of walks

It’s been a few weeks into the new semester, and so far, it’s been good! Definitely some interesting subjects I am doing this semester, mostly research based. But that is something I really like, even if it gets hard and stresses me out half the time. It does mean my view is mostly my laptop. But blasting good music really helps!

I am taking lots of walks to keep myself sane. The weather has been cooling down a lot as well, so it’s finally looking like autumn! Cue the cups of tea, crunchy leaves and crisp morning air.

Steadily making progress on my cross stitch. Had to take out a portion because I miscounted. Oh well. It’s my first kit, and I’ve been really enjoying it!

Haven’t been reading tonnes lately, but that’s okay. I am reading at night, and my current book is Icon and Inferno by Marie Lu. I love her books, and this is no exception!

A little late now, but I finished this hobbit bookmark for one of my best friends! I really enjoyed doing it and it was a fairly quick project. Pattern was free and one I found online!

Back to school, creative projects and rest

Disappeared off this website for two months while I relaxed and enjoyed my summer holidays! And I had my first day back today! Second year in communication has officially started, which I am excited about, but after two classes I was so incredibly tired, so I am relaxing this evening. Luckily, I don’t have tons of work to do yet.

Over the holidays I have been:

Reading loads of books, with one of my favourites being the first two books in the Emily Wilde series! (Still having to read the third)

Doing a lot of cross stitching, finishing a big project and starting a new bookmark (Van Gogh Sunflowers!)

Doing loads of walking and seeing beautiful skies!

Finished my puzzle, which was very fun to do and turned out not to be that hard

Watching a lot of series and films, with Medici being a favourite, as well as The Legend of Vox Machina! (Can’t wait until Nov 19 for The Mighty Nein!)

I am officially done with my first year as a Communcations student! I passed all my classes and learned so much, got such good grades even though I was so scared I wouldn’t pass. Even though I complained a lot, I’ve also learned that I am capable of more then I think. So, for next year I would like to be more confident in the work I deliver.

I had my final test last week, and got my final grade back two days ago, which means I have vacation! It’s been very hot the last few days, so I watched Wicked today with a friend and re-watched the first LOTR movie on monday with another friend.

Went to a fantasy festival last saturday! I had so much fun, but last minute decided I didn’t want to melt, so unfortunately didn’t dress up

Read a few of the Critical Role comics, which I’ve been really enjoying!

Continued with my cross stitch and miniature!

Last, but not least, I’ve been doing puzzlebooks again, forgot how much I’ve loved that!

I’ll probably be sharing my creative adventures and books I am reading or hoping to read during the summer holidays!

I am officially done with my first year as a Communcations student! I passed all my classes and learned so much, got such good grades even though I was so scared I wouldn’t pass. I am officially entering the last three weeks of the year, which equally exciting and terrifying for the hardest classes so far :) Which is why my view is mostly from the kitchen table, looking at my laptop. But alas, we persevere!

Haven’t had the motivation to read, but I am working my way through ‘The Wake-Up Call’ from Beth O’Leary, which is enjoyable so far!

Been chipping away at my cross stitch project a few stitches at a time, which is a lovely distraction from my schoolwork

Took loads of walks. I’ve managed to get 10k steps in for like a week?? So that’s great, it has helped me destress and organize my thoughts a lot more!

Fingers crossed I’ll pass all my subjects and classes!🤞🏻 Have a lovely week(end) and take care of yourself!

I’m halfway through my last semester with four weeks to go, and boy is it busy. And my motivation completely went over the last three weeks. I kept pushing my assignments and not enjoying it, finding the classes so incredibly hard. But! I have two days off this and next week, so the grind has started.

I’ve worked for three hours so far on my Personal Developement class today (it’s only 1 pm)

I’ve finished the Pairing last week! Absolutely loved it.

Haven’t been taking as many walks and skating trips, but I’ve been trying to do as many as I can, like walking to school from the busstation.

Worked on my miniature build last week :)

Had a few good conversations about selfworth and studying on Wednesday, which have helped my motivation!

So, there is a lot to do, but I am feeling pretty okay about it!

My break is over, so I’ve been back to school! My brain is an absolute mess because I have quite a few deadlines this semester. However, in between I am doing my cross stitch, because it’s something to keep my hands busy and easy enough to unwind from a long day. I am trying hard to figure out a way to balance my perfections and drive for productivity with my hobbies and not feel guilty for doing what I love.

I read ten books in April, a few of which were graphic novels!

Finished ‘Her majesty’s royal coven, which I greatly enjoyed! The weather was beautiful, so I could sit outside.

Also finished ‘Somewhere beyond the sea’ by TJ Klune and that book was like a hug, such a good story and those kids have my heart. Any likeminded book suggestions are welcome!

Again, many walks were had, as it seems to be one of the only things to keep me sane. I’ve found being outside is becoming more and more of a favourite activity!

Instead of being at school until 4pm, I was free at 1:30pm, so I summarised my notes from my marketing class.

I disappeared for a few weeks while I stressed about my test, which was incredibly hard and the first one this year I might not pass. Oh well, life goes on anyway and I need to accept failure is actually part of the learning process. I have been trying to find the beauty in small things, like the daisies that are growing. I now have a week off, and will be working slowly on my new coursework!

I summarised my notes this morning for marketing class!

I celebrated my twentieth birthday! Felling very blessed and grateful and got many presents that I am treasuring

Reread two of the three Foxhole Court books, which was a much needed distraction

Trying to make the month May in my bullet journal pretty again, as April was purely functional and I am not very happy with how it looked. It was a representation of my brain over the last few weeks

Also went on many a walk, listening to the audiobook of ‘Somewhere beyond the sea’ by TJ Klune

My deadline is on monday and I am nearly done with my portfolio! Haven’t been able to really relax a lot sadly. Hoping to turn it in today so I’ll be done with it, I’ve put so much time into this thing with not a lot of motivation. But, feeling good about the result and hoping my teachers feel the same way🤞🏻

Started The Sunshine Court by Nora Sakavic, as a treat to myself, I am loving this :)

Finished my puzzle! The background was a pain, but I pushed through and I adore the result!

Did a bit of my cross stitch project

Took loads of walks but even more skating trips and it’s been a treat to be able to move my body for an hour

Next week I’ll be studying for my test, and planning the next (and last!) period of this year. So, maybe I’ll share those pages!

Unmotivated for school, but creatively it’s going great

I’ve been incredibly unmotivated for school the past week which has not helped the pressure of the deadline for my videopitch next week :) Worked on the assignment yesterday for a couple hours, slept horribly, like 6 hours, and was back behind my laptop at 8:15 am this morning. And, as I am writing this on the bus going to my first class of the day, the sun is shining and I feel a little better. But, creatively it’s been going great!

Started my next puzzle! Got this one from my grandpa and the borders are all white, but I like a challenge!

Finished Atalanta by Jennifer Saint and definitely will be reading her other books!

Got back into drawing, and the image above was the result

Started watching Anne with an E, and looking forward to watching the rest of it, I loved the first episode

Also got back into playing my keyboard (had to blow the dust off of it) and it’s been very relaxing

Probably not going to be as creative this week personally, but I have to be for my school assignment! Just three more weeks and I’ll be done with this period. So, working hard, taking breaks in the evening and some few other bits I’ll be working on ✨

Concepting, walks, books and crafting

I’ve been stuck with my motivation over the last week/week and a half or something. Really not wanting to work on my portfolio’s, and feeling like I am not doing enough, while I know that it’s not true and I don’t need to pour everything I have into schoolwork but save it for fun things as well and taking walks, listening to audiobooks, being creative and resting!

So, over the last week:

I finally did get to start brainstorming for a creative concept for my creative communications class, which I am very excited about.

I stopped procastinating and finally fixed the buttonhole on my jeans. Perfect? No, but that wasn’t what I was going for anyway.

Went to the library and picked up the DVD for Crimson Peak which I want to watch tomorrow! First real ‘thriller/horror’ movie, so we’ll see what I think about it. Also picked up a book about textile arts which I’ve been wanting to read for a while.

Finished reading Daughters of Sparta by Claire Heywood. Liked the narration of it and even though I know what happens, somehow it keeps shocking me whenever I read about it. Continuing the theme by picking up Atalanta by Jennifer Saint next!

So, for today I hope to work on my portfolio’s and my concepts, taking my skates out for a long ride and maybe even sitting in the sun with a book for a while, as the weather is absolutely gorgeous.

Last few weeks have been quite uneventful. Had to take a break, and last Monday we had our first class again. This period I have Creative Communications, so this is nothing new with a background in graphic design. I am really enjoying the assignment! With the other subject I am really not liking the teacher, but what can you do?

Took loads of walks and even got to grab my skates out of storage yesterday because of the beautiful weather.

Finished Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu. Enjoyed that, though I don’t think I’ll read the second book.

Started a puzzle this morning!

Also started a crochet Toothless stuffie, the body is done and the head is nearly finished!

My denim jacket is also coming along nicely! Still a LOT to do, but I am having fun with it.

I got my grades back for two portfolio’s, and both were a 9 out of 10! Really happy with that. Last week I did a lot of research and now it’s spring break. My body noticed it was spring break and said, you are resting whether you want to or not, so, I have been resting. Reading books, trying to sew a patchwork denim jacket and watching House.

I finished Ithaca by Claire North and gave it 4.5 stars. It was really good!

Finished the first part of Go Tell the bees I am Gone by Diana Gabaldon. Finished it yesterday, jumped on my bike, and picked up part two :)

Went to the library and picked up three books. Started Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu, enjoying that so far!

Also went to the cinema yesterday with a friend and watched Captain America: Brave New World! Enjoyed it, and liked it a lot better than I thought I would.

So, I am not doing a whole lot this week for school. Rest is important and doing nothing is sometimes better than overworking yourself. Take care of your body and your mind!
