Currently working on in the studio: “Blue Lotus on Pink”. 5” x 7” Paul Rubens hot pressed paper block, Daniel Smith watercolors, Princeton Neptune brushes. Colors used: Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue Green Shade, Phthalo Turquoise, Rose of Ultramarine. The yellow is Cadmium Yellow Medium, the background is Quinacridone Rose with some Moonglow at the base for shadow. Going through some memorabilia I came across my beloved grandmother’s thimble, needle and medicine bottle she kept them in. She always had this in the pocket of whatever housedress she was wearing that day. I can still see her sitting at the table, button in hand waiting to be reunited with it’s siblings on one my dad’s shirts, while she struggled to get the needle threaded lol. This thimble means so much more than what it was originally created for. I feel like she just sent me a little kiss down from heaven.
