こんにちは, bonjour, or just a simple hello. My name is Victor Yamashita-Rousseau, I'm 34, use He/Him pronouns, and research Ghost Type Pokemon at the Lilycove Ecological Society. Most of my work has me up on Mt. Pyre, but I'm currently in Paldea teaching at Uva Academy.

Major Focus of my Studies:

The Natural Interactions of Ghost Types in the Wild.

The Origins of Human/Non-Human Ghost Types.

The Existence of Non-Pokemon Ghosts in Relation to Ghost Types.

Regional Ghost types and Their Cutural Mythology.

Did you always have ghost types with you as you went on your journey?

I did! Dyre was my first ever pokemon! He and I went through the gym challenge together! Marion joined later when I first went to Mt. Pyre. They've been inseparable from me for years!

What would you put in a microwave out of morbid curiousity, if no harm would come to you or others? The microwave is as large as it needs to be.

Hmm. Probably any metal ores. See how different metals react to the microwaves. It'd be loud and break it quite a bit, I imagine, but it'd be a wonderful show!

Where did you grow up? Do you have fond memories of it?

I grew up in Lavaridge! I have both good and bad memories there, but most of the bad was later on in my life.

What I remember most, however, are the days I would spend hanging out in the gym with my dad. We'd always get an update on when trainers were coming in, so we'd prepare the course for the day and then I'd pretend to be the upcoming challenger until they actually showed up. Having a mini battle that I always seemed to win 😊. I miss that a lot though...

It's sort of similar with my dad's new gym when I come to visit, but I can't exactly do the mini battles anymore, because the stream of challengers is more frequent there than it was in Hoenn.

The video begins with Victor staring into the screen. He looks a little bored, but overall he’s calm. From the looks of things, it seems to be a screen recording of a video call. The other person sits in the bottom corner with a black box edited atop them to preserve their privacy.

“Mr. Yamashita, I hope you know this trip to Sinnoh better come up with something conclusive. We cannot have another Unova.” The other person speaks, their voice barely masking their annoyance. Victor nods and calmly smiles.

“Yes sir. I know Unova had its, challenges, but I did manage to get quite a lot of evidence on Yamask, Frillish, Litwick, Golett, and their subsequent evolutions! I know I had my distraction, but I was working. A relationship didn’t halt my research-” He’s cut off abruptly by the other person, who clears their throat.

“It did when he broke up with you.” Their tone is sharp, which causes Victor to stiffen a little.

“I can reiterate it again, but he did not break up with me, he *disappeared*.” Victor visibly bristles and frowns.

“Yes, he ghosted you. Pun not intended. It happens.” Their tone is annoyed, but they clear their throat again and continue. “Regardless. Keep your eyes on your studies. You did well in Paldea. I was worried teaching would halt your studies, but you managed both so well.”

“Thank you sir.” Victor smiles weakly at that, still visibly upset from the previous exchange. “It was thanks to the students that had a lot of the ghost types found in Paldea. It was quite fascinating to see a Ceruledge up close and in battle! And despite their lack of control over their life-sapping energy, Greavard are quite the friendly pokemon. I dare not admit how many times I fell for it’s adorable trap. I won’t get into it too much, as you have surely read through my papers, but it was wonderful seeing these pokemon. I will not disappoint in Sinnoh. I am hoping to also see if we could collaborate with any of the labs in Sinnoh for this research as well. They might have more of a clue on the phenomena of the divergent evolution of the Cyndaquil line than I could figure out. Unless I manage to get my hands on a cyndaquil?” His earlier sour demeanor is quickly washed away as he speaks, finally ending with a smile and a slightly raised brow. There’s a soft chuckle from the other person in response.

“We’ll work on finding a suitable lab to collaborate with. And we will see on the pokemon part. I would like to see your studies on the spiritual energy and history of the pokemon before you attempt finding the evolution for yourself. We don’t want to waste resources.” “I understand, sir. But merci, thank you, for this upcoming opportunity. I will surely not disappoint.”

“I look forward to it, Mr. Yamashita. Now, about your reports on Mt. Pyre?”
