Summary: Things go well for a while after having taken the new bitties in and getting everything settled, but the peace doesn’t last. With things going askew, how can the peace be found once more.
Bittybones species: Sunlust, starlust and Lotellia created by @bitti-tarts
Mamba and Chain created by @vex-bittys
Things had gotten better after everything had settled. My three lamia boys weren’t as harsh with each other and the small discussions that happened were easily settled by a calm scolding and some good words. Amph, Socreas and Deph had been calm, and even the newly added Liam and Rae, a Mamba and a Chain bitty from Vex were settling in well. Liam was very persistent in him being the main attraction in the house and I went with it, the other’s accepting it because of who he was. A mamba would always be a mamba.
Things didn’t seem to get better though, as there was a knock at the door. Amph, being the helpful bitty he is, went to open the door for me as I was baking in the kitchen for Liam who wanted no one else to touch the lemon cake. “Hello?” Amph says, not recognizing who it is. “Yes, hello... Is Miss Kate around here? I need to speak with her.” The man in the door says, looking sour. Amph nods his head, turning around just as I comes around the corner, Liam sitting on my shoulder with his tail wrapped around my waist and glaring at the man who dares to interrupt the making of his snack!
I’m surprised to see the landlord here, standing there and not looking happy. “Oh, mister Evan, what can I do for you?” I ask, holding around Amph as he leans into my side, not looking too safe about the man here. “I’m sorry to say this Kate, you’ve been a good renter who always pays her rent but... The others here are getting nervous because of the bitties and some have complained about the sticky stuff one of them leaves and... The board has agreed that you’ll have to move. You’re not allowed to live here anymore.”
To say that I’m shocked is a understatement.
“You’re kidding me... I’m being kicked out for having bitties that others are scared of?”
“I’m sorry to say so, but yes.”
“That’s...” I really didn’t know what to say. Letting out a sigh as I could feel Rae looking at my back, I looked to the landlord once more. “I’m sorry. You’re just the messenger, I’m not mad at you. Thank you for the warning. How long will I have to find another place?”
“Three months. That’s the time they can legally throw you out in, that is the shortest amount of time they legally can.”
I nod my head with a sigh, giving him a smile. “Thanks again, I should get started on searching for a new place then...” I tell. He nods before going off, leaving me to close the door after him and just... Stand there.
When I turn around, all the bitties are looking at me. They’re all looking concerned while Rae is pushing support trough the bond.
“It’s okay everyone... I’ll figure something out.”
Two months later, I still hadn’t found anything. I’d been looking for a house instead of an apartment, needing more space in general, but there just weren’t any around. Either they were too expensive, didn’t allow pets - including bittybones of any kind - or they were just not in a correct place where it would be good for both myself and the bitties - as well as future ones - to live at the places.
“Sssssstil no luck?” Rae asks, slithering up next to me as I sit and read.
“Nope... Just doesn’t seem like there’s anything around the areas that is fitting to have you guys as well... I don’t feel like the demands I’m putting up is too much but I just can’t seem to find any place!”
Rae was about to say something when my phone goes off. Letting out a sigh I pick it up with a “Hello?”
“Hello sis! How’s it going! Things hanging up for you?” Oh, it was Carissa, my sister. I can’t help but smile, but it’s a bit cold.
“Could do a lot better. Remember I wrote to you about those bitties I’ve adopted?”
“Those little cute guys? Along with that handsome one that I still would love to adopt? Yeah I remember them! Made me want to get one as well, but haven’t found the right one just yet!”
“Yeah well, it seems that the others around here doesn’t like them just as much… I’ve been told I have to move. I’ve got one month to find another place before I’ll have to leave it.”
There was silence on the other name for a long while before she poke up once more.
“Oh my goodness… I didn’t know sis! You should have said something!”
There was a lot of shuffling around on the other end of the line. I knew at that point I could just as well stay still until whatever she was doing was done. It took a while before she once more cleared her throat on the other end.
“All right, here we are… I’ve got a few houses that will fit you. And don’t worry, they allow people to have poisonous snakes in some of the other houses, so the bitties shouldn’t be any trouble.” She assured me, making me let out a sigh.
“I don’t know how you do it Carissa, but thank you…”
“Oh please! Don’t give me that ‘Carissa’ Levmeia. There’s no need for the common names when it’s us talking!”
I can’t help but roll my eyes as she says this, smiling slightly. “All right, all right Zephi. I got it. Now, what were those houses again?”
Moving in and getting the things set up was hard, but with the bitties helping out it wasn’t as much of a burden as it could have been. In fact it was much more fun - and getting to go into the house with everything in place was a wonder.
The house was in a quiet but nice neighborhood with families who had pets. Dogs were barking from a bit away, there had been a few cats coming by to see who was moving in (and promptly rushing off at the sight of the giant snakes. Not that anyone could blame them). All in all, I felt much better about this place. And besides that, there was also the fact that-
“I love that we have our own space now! I can finally have some peace and quiet when I want to!”
That was Liam, sitting in the couch happily while Socreas and Amph were laying in the sun with Deph. There was three extra bedrooms besides my own. Deph, Amph and Socreas had of course set up in my room still, wanting to be near, but Liam and Rae had gotten their own room away from the others. And the last room was fit to get more bitties in the future.
“Of course, you’d need all the alone time you’d need!” That was my sister, who’d helped out moving things in. She was sitting and making eyes at Liam. It wasn’t hard to tell she was fond of him…
“But you know, you shouldn’t forget to come around to the living room as well. It would be such a loss for us to not see you and your beautiful scales at least around meals.” I comment, knowing just how to stroke his ego right.
“O-of course! But do know it’s a priveledge!” He instantly says, making the others chuckle softly, trying to hide it as best they can.
The new house was great, the air here was a lot fresher than it had been in the apartment… And I lived closer to my sister while having more space.
Seemed like things worked out after all.
