Trying to not trip myself up.

I’ve never paid more attention to my physical looks than I have recently. Whether it’s I want to look nice so maybe cute gay girls notice me or it’s always wanting to be “put together” in fear of scrutiny (“making trans people look bad” or some other non-sensical internalized transphobia).

I’m so focused on my outward appearance and am noticing more and more that I look just like my mother. I want to be proud of my looks but don’t want to look like the bigot that raised me (long story short: I don’t talk to my Mom after she got “red pilled”) Every time I look in the mirror it’s a mixture of “There They are! That’s the person I’ve been all along, the ugly duckling all grown up” and “oh no, there’s the woman that caused irreversible damage to me”.

I’ve been wrestling with this for a long time now and I’ve finally found my conclusion. Maybe I do look a lot like that woman, I am her daughter, after all. I’m never going to look like Her, the one who maybe did her best but still hurt me in too many ways to count. No, I look like the woman she could have been and never will be. I look like the loving Mom, the proud Mother who will always be there to show my child the way. Always with open arms, an open heart and an open mind. I’ll look like the women my daughter will know now and forever will be in her corner no matter how old she gets and how grown she may feel.

Haven’t really been feeling myself lately. I needed a bit of a system reset but I’m coming back. Instead of being depressed in my bathrobe all day, I’m cleaning the kitchen and laying down some phat bass lines. Even took some time to read and listen to a podcast I like. Trying to love myself and all the little weird stuff that makes me. I hope y’all are well.
