In the 4kidz dub, princess adena was added into the virtual world by seto as a homage to mokuba.

In my awesome transfem kaiba au, she projects some of her identity onto mokuba while in denial about herself. I think as time went on and mokuba became more Aware of how seto functions, he'd connect those two dots in his head.
