july is pride month in hungary, and in honor of this amnesty international hungary got permission from the ferencváros district of budapest to repaint a bench in the district to pride colors, and their pride motto: open, free, happy

now thats all fine and good however. this country sucks ass. meaning the bench was almost immediately repainted by the districts football (soccer for the yanks) ultras* to their district colors, and they also added a slogan to really hammer the point home

so this sucks obviously, so amnesty took the bench back and repainted it, because they had permission. after repainting it the ultras got their hands on it immediately but sadly i do not have pictures of the second nazi bench.
after the second repainting the districts residents centrists took matters upon themselves, and painted the bench brown. They also stuck a piece of paper on it, with the text "i just want to be a bench that is good for everybody. You. Me. Us"

if things were not chaotic enough, the next day amnesty repainted the bench again, but in short order our favorite nazis in parliament, the mi hazánk party painted the bench with the hungarian flag with the justification that painting over the flag would violate some sort of flag respect law which is fake and they are possibly thinking of america.

we are still on the same day when the funniest people enter the scene.
(for a bit of background, in the past 2 years due to some horrible human rights violations by our government, boojs with "gay subjects"* had to be covered in foil and placed in a different section to all other books, because theyre "adult subjects not suitable for children")
so anyway someone did cover the bench in foil. hysterical. i need to find whoever did that and marry them

obviously the foil was removed the next day and the bench is now fully gone, however the memory of the Identity Bench will remain in our hearts forever. here is a handy chart someone made of the bench progression

*no clue if this concept exists in other countries so i'll explain: football ultras are hardcore nazis that create their communities around their resident football team. almost every team in hungary has ultras, except zete which is so bad not even nazis care about them
