I love au stories where Miyeong never died, so she and Celine raise Rumi together. So here’s a fun scenario:
5 year old Rumi gets assigned homework, it’s a short sheet about who her hero is. She instantly picks her ‘mama Cece’, which is enough to make Celine tear up.
When questioned on why Celine is her hero, Rumi writes down that Celine is very brave and loves her and her Eomma very much.
The next question makes Celine pause.
‘Is there anything your hero is afraid of?’
Without hesitation, Rumi scribbles down an answer. Celine looks at it, and her face instantly turns pink.
‘My Eomma.’
Miyeong immediately doubles over laughing, while Celine is burying her face in her hands, mumbling something under her breathe.
Rumi is clearly very observant, and notices that mama Cece will do anything and everything Eomma asks her to.
Celine is never going to live this down.
Everyone lives with a catch.
What if Celine is the only one who doesnt know Mi-yeong is with Soo-ho (the demon dad) and pregnant. Min-ji (Third) knows about it and was sworn to secrecy. Even though she has a bad feeling about it. But it's Mi-yeong's request and like it or not, they know Celine is a stickler for the Hunters code. In a way, scared that Celine will react negatively to Soo-ho and the baby.
What they dont know, is that Celine is more than willing to let it go if it comes with her band-mates (she's weak for her girls).
Between the period of Mi-yeong's pregnancy and her request for a year long hiatus, Celine is left in the dark. All she got is that Mi-yeong is staying with her grandmother for a year (lie) with the excuse of taking care of her (lie). Celine being Celine, trusts her despite her curiosity and desire to help. But Min-ji convinces her that Mi-yeong will be fine and besides, she still have her. Mi-yeong promises she'll call often, which eases Celine's trepidations.
So, imagine the betrayal she felt when she responds to a tear at an isolated home and sees Mi-yeong and a demon man defending an infant from the demon horde. She focuses on fighting the demons first, then she'll demand answers.
Not me thinking of Celine yelling at them for keeping this secret from her. Min-ji tries to placate her only to be hit with, "..You knew?" with a crack voice in the end. Mi-yeong, weakened after giving birth to Rumi, tries to help Min-ji calm Celine down.
Celine's hands clench and tears springing from her eyes. She looks at them with pure betrayal and sadness, asking "What we have, are they all lies?"
Min-ji and Mi-yeong without hesitating says that no, what they have isn't a lie. Only to hear Celine whispering, tears slowly dripping down her face, "Then, why not tell me?"
Min-ji ripping the band aid off and says because (as much as it hurts to say it, but she needs to be honest) Celine follows the Hunters code to a fault. They're scared what will happen to Soo-ho and the baby if she knew.
Dont imagine the heartbroken look from Celine. The admission that yes, she does follow the code. But she's more than willing to break it if it means making sure they're happy.
The realization from Mi-yeong and Min-ji with the guilt of why would they assume the worst from their soulmate. Why didnt they trust her? Do they truly know Celine? Questions upon questions pile up in their mind.
"I-I can't... I can't be here anymore... I'm leaving." Celine turns around and walks away. Min-ji and Mi-yeong yells for her to not leave.
Celine stops and without looking back says, "I hope you'll be happy with your family Mi. JiJi. Don't- don't try to find me.." as the bond between the trio and the Honmoon breaks.
Celine continues to walk away. Min-ji scrambling to grab Celine only for her to pull her arm away from Min-ji's. Ignoring Mi-yeong's cries. Not even Soo-ho's attempt to stop his girlfriend's soulmate deters Celine. The last thing they see is the back of their third, their maknae, walking away from them.

character who is sun-coded but not in the traditional ray-of-sunshine way. character who is sun-coded in the sense that they burn hot and bright and powerful, that they're a raging fury of fire and passion, and that maybe, just maybe, they are destroying themselves as they do so.
character who is moon-coded but not in the moody grumpy way. character who is moon-coded in the way they shine brightly in darkness guiding others. a character that is moon-coded with all their darker sides no one else can see. that they are lonely and lovely. doomed to watch on as the the person who gives them their light slowly destroys themselves taking the light with them.

Rumi asks the girls to marry her and they say yes and patterns start to show up on their ring fingers because, technically, they did make a deal with a demon
It took them quite a while to notice.
There were a lot of contributing factors to this, in their defense.
fanfiction is a rare gem and a solid, living proof that, in a world of tiktok, influencers and content posting, not everything is about money and going viral. art can still be art just for the sake of the artists’ pure love, joy and passion for the art they create. fanfic writers write 100k words and more about the characters they love for free. just because they love these characters and the art of writing so much. art is not dead and the world is still beautiful.
shoutout to fanfiction and fanfic writers

Here, have some tooth rotting fluff because I am sad and this is making me feel better.
Post-movie, when the girls are trying to do a weird mating dance to attract the other two into this weird polycule, Rumi actually comes ahead in the flirting category by just being a good partner.
Mira wakes up after a particularly bad night, still exhausted, and checks her phone to see that she was supposed to be on-air with the girls an hour ago. She launches out of bed, stumbling into the kitchen, cursing under her breath, until she smells something cooking.
Rumi is in the kitchen, with three different pans on the stove and the oven on, moving through the motions calmly. Vegetables chopped, eggs cracked, and that little smile on her face that makes Mira's heart melt every time.
Mira is stuck for a moment, watching Rumi float through the kitchen, humming a lullaby to herself as she cooks. The Honmoon is calm, floating around them like the ocean on a calm day. The waves curl around Mira's hand, guiding her into the kitchen when Rumi finally notices her.
"Good morning, jigiya. I made you some tea, just the way you like it, no sugar, splash of milk. It's on the counter."
Mira could feel her heart melting. Rumi, strong, fearless, amazing Rumi cared enough to know exactly how she liked her tea. Mira slid into the seat at the island, pulling the pink bear cup towards her. She sipped the tea, a satisfied hum rumbling through her at the taste of it.
Within a few minutes, Rumi set a small plate of Hotteok in front of Mira. She looked at Rumi in shock, and the older girl just shrugged.
"You mentioned you liked them. I got the recipe from a vendor the last time I was in the city. Eat them before they get cold, ok?"
Mira nodded robotically, quickly trying one of them. It was good, really good. Mira couldn't help the little noise that left her as she ate, causing Rumi to laugh softly. Mira felt her heart clench at the sound. She wanted to bottle that sound and play it anytime she felt sad or lonely.
--------------
Zoey woke up to an empty bed. That wasn't unusual on their days off, but as Zoey checked her phone, she realized that there was supposed to be an interview earlier that day. She launched herself out of bed and bolted for the kitchen, already rehearsing what she would say to placate Celine later that day. That is, until she rounded the corner and saw the sight in front of her.
Rumi and Mira were sitting at the kitchen counter, singing a soft duet that floated through the penthouse. There were three mugs on the counter, and a plate of what looked like pancakes in front of Mira. As Zoey cautiously approached, Rumi looked over at her with the softest smile.
"Good morning, aegiya. I made you some tea, too. Black, with enough milk and sugar to kill a small nation, right?"
Zoey nodded, a little confused by what was happening. She shot a confused look at Mira, who just shrugged and went back to sipping her tea. Zoey slid into the open seat, reaching for her turtle mug with both hands. As she tried the tea, she smiled softly to herself. Rumi definitely knew exactly what she liked.
Rumi, for her part, placed a plate down in front of Zoey. The younger girls eyes widened as she saw a full American breakfast in front of her. She looked up at Rumi, who was watching for her reaction.
"You're the best, Unnie. You know that, right? It's really important that you know that."
Rumi blushed, her patterns glowing softly from the compliment. As Zoey started eating, Mira asked the question that had been bugging her all morning.
"What happened with the interview?"
Rumi was suddenly very interested in the stove, and she quickly made her way back to the kitchen. Mira watched her go, standing up to follow her. Rumi was standing at the stove, doing her best to appear busy as Mira walked up behind her.
"What did you do, Rumi?"
Mira's question was soft as she reached around to hold Rumi's waist. The older girl blushed, and her patterns started glowing bright. She felt a weight on her front, and looking down she realized that Zoey had attached herself to her as well. She took a deep breath before speaking.
"I canceled. You- WE deserve a day off."
The kitchen was silent for almost a full minute. Rumi was standing there, smushed between both girls, about to cry. It had taken a lot for her to cancel, but the girls still needed rest. She still needed rest. But she couldn't stop the nagging feeling that Mira and Zoey were going to hate her for canceling. For seeming weak.
She was broken out of her spiral as Mira placed a gentle kiss on her temple. It was soft, and Rumi could feel the pride radiating off of the taller girl. Zoey had the same reaction Rumi did, and the older girl was horrified when she realized Zoey was crying. Before she could say anything, Zoey spoke.
"You took a break... for us? For you?"
It came out in a sob, but Rumi realized that it was filled with pride and happiness. Zoey was proud of her. Mira was too. Rumi nodded hesitantly, still bracing for anger.
"I'm so proud of you, nae salang. So, so proud."
Mira held Rumi closer as she spoke, hiding her face in Rumi's shoulder. She was close to tears herself, filled with so many emotions. More than anything, she was proud of her girl. Proud of her Rumi.
The three of them stayed like that in the kitchen, holding each other and whispering praise to their leader. After a while, Mira pulled away to face her girls.
"I love you both so much."
It rolled off her tongue so easily. She barely had time to process the thought before it was out in the world. Luckily, it wasn't quiet for long.
"I love you both too. Like, a lot."
Zoey spoke this time, her voice timid compared to normal. Rumi was left blinking, reeling from the knowledge that her girls felt the same way she did. She took a deep breath before responding.
"I love you too. More than I've ever loved anything before in my life. I want to have you both near me all the time. I want to wake up next to you every morning. I want to call you jigiya and aegiya, and have it mean something more. I love you both, and I don't know what to do."
The three girls stood there for a moment, all quiet as they worked through their own thoughts. Finally, Zoey spoke up.
"I know we all just kind of declared our love for each other, but would you two like to be my girlfriends?"
All three girls broke out into giggles as Rumi and Mira nodded enthusiastically. As the three of them came together in a hug once more, Rumi realized that canceling that interview was the best decision she'd ever made. Aside from her girls, of course.
I realized after writing all this that it was about three miles long, but I like it, and it's my blog, so I don't care. Anyways, I really hope you guys like this one. I put my heart into it tonight.
fic idea where nobody can be convinced that huntrix is actually dating each other
the first incident happened when zoey got caught on camera gorilla gripping mira’s and rumi’s butts (she was born with two hands for a reason duh). this was before they were ready to come out to the public so they were relieved when all that came out of it was a heated societal discussion about why it’s not gay for male athletes to slap each other’s ass but when a girl does it to her two best friends suddenly they’re a bunch of homos
second time is zoey’s fault again (oops). she’d been on ig live or something and forgot to mute so the entire stream heard mira call rumi “love” and to “not hog the blanket tonight”. but this time they’re comfortable and settled in the relationship and would be down for ppl to actually know. it happens again tho with ppl explaining that girl besties have sleepovers and call each other nicknames all the time.
from there it spirals into a game for mira and zoey to do increasingly incriminating things to see where ppl would finally admit that they were dating. Rumi isn’t actively encouraging it but she’s also not actively discouraging it either
queue the antics of doing everything short of making out sloppy style in front of the camera. they’re touchy, they feed each other , they sit on each others’ laps, they even called one another their girlfriends. at one point an exasperated mira even posts a pic of their promise rings online (the public called it a “stunning physical display of female friendship”)
they’d almost called it quits and released an official statement when rumi of all ppl was caught on a fan’s video being horrifically down bad for the other two. dealer’s choice for whatever she’s caught doing or saying but it’s enough for ppl to start backtracking and re-examining all of the previously labeled gal pal activities
internet explodes and then the girls confirm it by doing a lil kissy kissy for everyone to see
If there's a fic for this, drop me a link please. I need it like one needs air.
Rumi being sick and only wanting Celine
She's the type to power through injuries, a broken bone? No problem, the honmoon speeds up her healing. But the moment she gets a fever, she becomes a whining mess calling out for Celine.
Mira and Zoey, of course, want to help, making all her favourite foods, but Rumi is too stubborn and only wants Celine's cooking when she's not well.
“Rumi please, it's Celine's recipe,”
“But she didn't make it, :(”
She has the saddest doe eyes when she hears Celine's name, pout and all.
Zoey gives in and just calls Celine, even if she's in Jeju, the woman would drop anything just to be there for her kid. And she shows up suspiciously fast, armed with groceries and one of Rumi's childhood blankets that she didn't take to the tower. She immediately starts over the soup Mira made, and Mira would be mad at that, if not for the fact that Celine's cooking is indeed better than hers.
Rumi latching onto Celine's back like a sloth would a branch as soon as she sees her, wrapping both in her blanket, basically acting as dead weight. She'd bury her head into her shoulder, arms death gripping around her waist, but Celine's used to it, moving around the kitchen efficiently, before spooning a bowl for her to eat.
And when she's finished, Rumi drags Celine to her bed, forcing her to cuddle (which Celine is very glad to do, because Rumi is only ever this touchy when she's ill) The girl basically acting like she wants to crawl into Celine's skin with how close she is to her. But if Rumi still wants Celine in her life, then how could she say no?
Ok so i had..a very dark thought..Celine was convinced Mira and Zoey would hurt Rumi if they ever saw her patterns. Now while Celine did mess up with Rumi she truly wanted the best for her and is clearly messed up by grief and her own trauma so like what if her belief that mira and zoey would hurt rumi wasn't just paranoia ? I mean, consider this : We know nothing about the third sunlight sister she isn't mentioned at all and hell we don't even know her name and is completely absent from the plot..Basically what if the third sunlight sister had tried hurting Rumi before ? If this is true Celine's actions would make wayy more sense and also quite the angst for the girls. Just Imagine Mira and Zoey being angry about Celine telling rumi to lie about her patterns. And Rumi is like I can't really be mad she just didn't want a repeat of the poppy thing (popular fan name for the third sunlight sister) and Mira and Zoey are like...the what ? And Rumi casually replies that poppy tried killing her as a baby/toddler after finding about the half demon thing and Celine wanted to keep rumi safe and did not want huntrix to go through the same thing. Mira and Zoey are actually sick to their stomachs..because Celine had been right..they raised their weapons at Rumi while Rumi begged them to listen. And Honestly are they even better ? Celine might have taught Rumi to hate herself but she hadn't raised a weapon at her even when Rumi had begged too. They couldn't say the same.
See what’s sad is that Celine could have been a mother. Maybe if she wasn’t the last Sunlight Sister, she could have put her weapons done, she could have simply watched as the next generation of Hunters took the burden and she wouldn’t have to build a company from the ground up just to make sure they weren’t taken advantage of.
But she was never going to let herself be Rumi’s mother.
Which is like. So fucked up to me. I’m a firm believer that Rumi is a little mini Celine which is just. Ugh. You raised a girl since she was a baby, ; she has the eyes of the woman you loved, the face and hair of a man you were trained to kill and she acts like a person you hate (yourself) but she isn’t your daughter because you can’t possibly be her mother.
I think that’s something that absolutely is part of the reason Rumi felt that she could go to Celine and ask her to kill her. I think Rumi’s childhood was actually pretty nice, compared to what the fandom imagines. I think Celine tried so SO hard to be for Rumi what she wished she had when she’d became an idol and Hunter. I think Rumi picked up more from Celine than Celine ever wanted. Tiny little comments that built and built and built without anywhere to go because Celine never taught Rumi how to open up to anyone (because she never learned how either)
Celine assumed that Rumi knew she loved her, that it didn’t need to be said while Rumi assumed that Celine saw her only as a Hunter— which is why she was so comfortable asking her that.
Ughhhhhh. I need more Celine. Give me her working so so hard to reconnect with Rumi, give me her having a deep conversation with Rumi about everything for the first time ever, give me her accepting that she was/is Rumi’s mother in everyway that counted and she needs to step up!!
I have this vision where after the movie, Rumi and Celine are at Miyeong's grave lighting incense and putting out offerings.
Celine (not looking at Rumi): your mother would be proud of you
Rumi (side-eyeing her): really. My mother would be proud that the honmoon was destroyed.
Celine (sudden cough): you made a new one. You and Mira and Zoey. You trusted each other and didn't let things get between you three. She'd...she would be proud.
I see the vision clear as a day
Who are you, when you're not hiding behind your mother's legacy? (Part 1)
Ryu Rumi is Ryu Miyeong's daughter.
That's how Celine raised her.
Perhaps this is why she grew up with the feeling that Celine always saw Miyeong, not Rumi.
(Or, even worse, only Miyeong's mistakes, a voice whispers in her head from time to time.)
Rumi loves apples, especially the green variety. Has loved them since she can remember herself.
Celine always makes her a strawberry flavoured cake for her birthday. Because Miyeong loved strawberries, in every form she could have them.
Rumi hates strawberries, hates the overly sweet flavour, the tiny black seeds on their surface. She hates them just like she hates shrimps, just like she hates avocado and pork and cucumbers.
She smiles regardless. She profusely thanks Celine for the beautiful cakes regardless. She forces down as many pieces of the overly sweet cake as possible, because Celine is trying, because Celine is still mourning.
Because Celine lost everything in a single night. Because Celine took upon a responsibility that wasn't meant for her.
Because Celine is not obliged to raise a half demon, while she's fighting hordes of demons all by herself day and night.
Rumi smiles and hugs her and secretly wishes for apple pies and warm cups of milk instead.
Rumi loves short hair. She loves the stylish asymmetrical bobs, the cute pixie cuts, even hair styles with the head half - shaved.
Celine convinces her to let her hair keep growing naturally, until their length rivals that of her late mother's hair.
Because she's Miyeong's daughter. Because she is a future Hunter. She's posh and refined, not some ruffian tomboy.
Rumi allows her hair to grow, no matter how much she hates her reflection. No matter how uncomfortable it becomes every time she has to wash it and dry it and braid it, from top to bottom. No matter how frequently she gets headaches from the weight of her too long, too thick, purple demon hair.
She hates her reflection, because the mirror doesn't show her Ryu Rumi.
It only shows her Ryu Miyeong.
Rumi actually loves rock music. She even enjoys heavy metal songs and bands on the rare occasion she isn't practising on her vocals with Celine.
There are so many beautiful rock ballads, especially from European rock bands. There are so many heavy metal songs with such deep lyrics and messages hidden in plain sight, that she wishes she had the freedom and the skills to write one such song.
(Singing about slaying demons and sending their worthless souls back to Gwi Ma gets tiring. Like, okay, she gets it. Demons bad, humans good.)
She dares to purchase a single rock album. (Scorpions)
Once she sees the disdain written all over Celine's face about her music choices, she quickly hides it under her mattress and lies that she threw it away and that she will never buy another rock album. Perhaps for the first time in her life, she lies.
Ryu Rumi wishes for many things.
She wishes for apple pies, for short hair, for rock songs.
She's just 12, barely a teenager, and she wishes she didn't see a 30-year-old deceased Kpop idol every time she looks at the mirror.
She wishes she could see more than a woman she doesn't even remember.
She wishes Celine could see in her more than her mother. More than her memory, more than her love for a demon, more than a mistake.
She wishes she could be Ryu Rumi.
She wishes she could be loved for who she is.
But...
Who is she, if she's not Miyeong's daughter?
The universe rarely answers to human wishes.
But it does answer to Rumi's pleads.
In the form of infuriating, rebellious, pink-haired, smug Mira Kang.
To be continued...
