[4:16] what [4:16] It’s open, why do you even have a spare key?  Her head tilted to the side to lock her gaze on the shape the dim lights from outside caused on the door, body half-submerged on her couch.

Nanao slipped in through the door and took a moment to adjust to the light before she noticed the woman on the couch. She glanced at the woman and offered a smile. 

“I know you said you didn’t need any, but well. It still helps. It cuts down on recovery and helps process the alcohol.” She murmured, rattling off the benefits as she raised the little thermos of ‘excuse to see her old mentor’ juice. She shuffled from foot to foot and looked around. 

“May I come in?”

[3:34am] Ah, Captain don’t worry about it. None of that was your fault, and nothing to worry I still am not all that fond of alcohol. Usually I only ever get into it socially!

She blinked and sighed. At least it wasn’t as jarring as when others called her it. “I suppose things have been keeping us from seeing one another as of late. I suppose even in peaceful times things can get busy..” She trailed off and set the drink down before him. “I trust you’ve been well?”

‘ as well as can be expected, mhmm. i’ve been reconnecting with lisa-chan. it feels like we’re kinda starting over all over again. which is nice i guess. ‘ he exhaled loudly, sitting up to stretch his arms over his head. ‘ what have you been busy with? I’ve rarely seen you around. ‘ then his eye narrows a little. ‘ don’t tell me you’ve got yourself a lover? hm? ‘

She couldn’t help but smile just a little as she heard that. Under normal circumstances she might have had something to at least react a bit. A terse look in regards to him growing so familiar with the captains which, to be fair, were his subordinates. But well. It was Lisa. And she supposed by the nature of it, her own connection did tint her as she smiled, and couldn’t help but feel such notions drift out of mind. 

“That’s wonderful to hear!” She said, her voice unusually excited in that moment as she listened to him and then shook her head a bit, sighing, but with a fondness to it. The news of him and Lisa softening her irritation at his playful implications. 

“No Commander, nothing like that.” She noted softly, the pang in her chest only very light. 

“Just some reformatting. We’ve had a lot of officers moved around. And so there’s been a bit of backlog with small things. Tasks taht weren’t properly handed down because of the strain and all of the moving about. But things have gotten a lot better now thatwe have all our Captaincy spots filled so that the Captains themselves can get things sorted out.”

She resisted the urge to sigh heavily. Lovely. The Commander’s pet calling her had begun to spread to the other Captains. 

“I’m afraid I don’t really have one, Captain Kuchiki.” She responded evenly.

💭 - Which sexual desire are they too embarassed about to tell anytone? And in which situation would it be obvious enough to show?

Sexual desire of any type is generally kept on the down low. Even when it comes to her friends, she usually affixes the conversation to notions of companionship. The idea of risking someone’s life for her sexual gratification is a considerable hurdle. So in a sense any sort of sexual urge is considered a bit shameful in that regard. 

Though as to the root of the question which lies in specific kinks? Honestly she isn’t even familiar enough with her sexual self to even know about that sort of thing about herself. not that she is ignorant to such things, but her family curse presents such a barricade that she has never really considered what she really WANTS in such a regard. 

That said, if there were a situation where she had a more.....stable foothold in her sexuality? I think perhaps something that might peek through the curtains is a mild sadism.

He knows better than to dismiss Nanao’s claims, given her lengthy career as lieutenant for not just one, but two divisions. Out of anyone within the Gotei 13, there’s no one who knows the highs and the lows of the role better than her.

“If… you don’t mind my curiosity, Lieutenant Ise, what was it like for you when you made rank?” No harm in asking, right?

She expected the question. But well....even so. She took a moment before she actually went and answered it. She ...drummed her fingers just a little and sighed. 

“It wasn’t exactly a normal process. My ambitions to Lieutenant came in the wake of the supposed demise of our previous one in Squad Eight. Lisa Yadomaru. At that point, it was....really all I ever started focusing on. I had been proficient before. and certainly exemplary. But the transition was...tumultuous. Not only that, but I also do not have a zanpaku’to. So the journey to earning the position was different. I didn’t really have friends when I took the position. Admittedly....the transition of other events somewhat overshadowed the transition’s traditional caveats. So I admit, I probably had an atypical time of it.” She noted softly at that and ...furrowed her brows, looking to the floor. 

She considered the things at play. The loss not only to her, but to the Captain. She remembered the dynamic between Lisa and Kyoraku. And of course well, her looking so much like Lisa? Well it was complicated. Not that he tried to replace her with Nanao. She would have never imagined that. But she did wonder if perhaps, if anything, it made it harder, to have such a stark reminder. That Nanao looked so much like the woman whom he had told Nanao would be alright. 

Ah....her mind was getting.....sidetracked. 

“I admit, I’m probably not the best person to ask. When I became Lieutenant, I never looked back. Much less around myself outside of what it meant to my job. For a more ....personable man such as yourself. I don’t think the insight will do you much good from me.” She noted gently.

That is a subject he can get into! His expression softened at her inquiry this time around, eager as he was to stumble out of that earlier awkwardness.

“Honestly? I’d say I’m still getting used to it,” Kōta admitted, reflecting on the past month and then some since he accepted his new role. The 13th’s new lieutenant stared off into space, though he wasn’t quiet for long before he started opening up to her proper.

“The new duties and responsibilities, the fact I’m working with Captain Kuchiki as her own right hand and putting myself out there in the public eye for my squad, then there was meeting all of you other Lieutenants… it was really nerve-wracking at first.”

He turned to face Nanao, this time with a grateful smile.

“Those first-day jitters haven’t completely gone away yet, but in spite of that? It’s been fun so far. I couldn’t be happier to serve my division like this, and I only hope to do everyone proud in the long run.”

She nodded along. Making mental note of his apparent mild glee with the subject. But that was the norm with self sharing with any person. She nodded slowly at that. It sounded just about normal. Thankfully he seemed to have a pretty good go of it. Not only that but Squad 13 was fairly placid at that. 

“Is that so? I’m glad to hear that. The next few years will certainly be interesting. It can be a bit stressful. Positions of authority at the highest levels can , at times, be a bit hard on some. Your personal relationships with your squadmates can strain some. And the workload can get to you if things aren’y delegated well. But all the same, I’m happy to see things have gone well for you thus far.” She noted softly. Remembering when she herself had gotten into her position. hmmm.

I really wanted to think of something cute or interesting that she would do. But to be honest it would be one of two things, and neither of them are all that cute or interesting. 

If it is something she just isn’t getting much out of, she’ll probably let it slide, and then sit them down later about it.  If it’s something that’s actively ruining the experience for her, she’ll just smack some part of them and say ‘Stop it’. She’s kinda pragmatic like that ^^;

Or she’ll bark the safe word at them if they have something like that set up.

Absolutely nothing will EVER get her relaxed for sex in most cases XD

Some playful flirty or romantic things can certainly get her in the mood. But I assure you she will never be relaxed about it. Until maybe like.... a decade into the relationship? Assuming her family curse hasn’t killed her SO. Or well, if it’s a male, then that will probably never be relaxing, as they are more or less guaranteed to die. 

And with women she’s not even sure if they would be safe, so it would take a few years of them being alright for her to finally relax about that sort of thing. 

Though at that point, it will likely kinda very wildly as generally speaking, it will be some trait about her SO that calms her, so it would depend on who the other person was at that juncture.

“…thank… you?” He sounded completely unsure of himself—was he supposed to thank her for telling him about this? Or say sorry?

“You’re welcome.” She didn’t even bother getting into why on earth he was thanking her. For actually answering his question she supposed. He had made the right move frankly. She would have been annoyed if he apologized. 

“In any case. How have you been taking to your new position? It’s been a good while now since getting into it. Are you acclimating well?” She brought up. He was, after all, one of the new Lieutenants in the Gotei. And especially given .....certain qualities in the man. She was a bit curious how he was doing. Some did have some trouble navigating the sudden authority invested in them.

“…wait, really?” With an inflection as though to say ‘that’s it?’, Kōtarō almost looked… disappointed with that revelation. With all that prior buildup and anticipation, he was excited for a better payoff at the climax than just that. Of course people relieve themselves! Where’s the punchline-?

“Gotta say, I was expecting something a bit more off-the-wall, like… an inter-division game of tag or something.”

She almost smiled when she saw the wind exhaust from his sails. Good. Not only had she chopped any follow-up, but he seemed thoroughly uninterested in it. Of course there was a lot of details that she opted out of the explanation, but frankly he would likely be the better for it. 

“I assure you, it’s as disappointing and uninteresting as my ignoring the question initially should have implied. Let alone my initial response to remembering that it was sunday.” She noted, folding her arms into her sleeves.
