On ADHD time blindness...

I was preparing a snack of microwave popcorn. This new popcorn that we got takes longer to pop, so I set the timer for 4 minutes. I just so happened to also need to use the bathroom, so I decided to go ahead and kill two birds with one stone by using the bathroom while waiting for the timer to go off.

Important context (and I know it's gross but somebody has to talk about it): using the bathroom doesn't give me an immediate dopamine hit, so I often avoid using the bathroom right up until the very last second. It feels like it takes AGES to use the bathroom. The task itself has a multitude of steps, including but not limited to: interrupting whatever task I'm currently focused on, moving myself to a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ROOM, doing something that's mildly gross and not very sensory friendly, having to wash my hands, and then RETURN to where I was and figure out what the hell I was doing before I was interrupted. I had honestly assumed that using the bathroom took 15, maybe 20, minutes!

So, you can imagine my surprise when I got done using the bathroom and the timer still displayed 1 minute left. 1 MINUTE LEFT?! You're telling me that it takes literally 3 MINUTES for me to use the bathroom?! That's unbelievable. I couldn't believe it, but it happened. I honestly felt like I was in the Twilight Zone!

Anybody else, or is this just me?
