Chat, is it considered “abusive roommate behavior” to release a raccoon into the living space after you have asked your roommate for months to please clean up their messes (they do not pay any of the mortgage)

For context, when I used to live alone I would do something called “Princess Time” where I would do an initial sweep (to remove any significant hazards) and then I would release a raccoon into the living area and clean. This helped because I would 1) feel like a princess and 2) the raccoon would bring attention to things my ADHD brain had decided to ignore and I’d quickly clean that stuff up.

So like, if I’m expected to clean the house now, I will be doing it in the way that is most effective for me. And anything that has not been cleaned up after months of having sit-down talks and sending reminders and being promised things will change, might be deemed “trash” by the trash panda and thrown away.

I am a raccoon biologist and one of the few people in the state allowed to take in captive bred raccoons that had been possessed illegally. The raccoon in the photos is Moonshine, but she is currently at the animal sanctuary where I work as I had been quarantining multiple new intakes from an abuse case. I still have two males (Rum Tum Tugger and Electra) left in my home enclosure as we are getting them neutered and then hopefully sending them to an AZA accredited zoo.

I wanna make things very clear that underneath all the whimsy, I am a trained professional.

What If We Made Advertising Illegal?

What if we banned all advertising? Not regulate it—abolish it. This proposal would transform manipulation machines, and maybe save democracy

Even as an advertiser (especially as an advertiser), I am convinced that outlawing advertising is the best thing we can do for our world now. More than gun control. More than tackling climate change. More than lowering the price of eggs. Removing these advanced manipulation tools would force everyone—politicians included—to snap back into reality. By outlawing advertising, the machinery of mass delusion would lose its most addictive and toxic fuel.

I started out reading this smugly saying to myself yeah, right.

But by the end I'm sold. Let's ban advertising.

We can start small, maybe with city ordinances. Then roll it out county wide, then at the state level. Once other states see how quiet and sane things can be, they'll adopt the ban too. The ones that don't will remain snarling islands of rage & delusion until the people move away.

Let's ban advertising.

Has anyone studied the impacts of lockdown on netiquette and how the breakdown of netiquette has in turn impacted other things?

I'm just fascinated by the changes in humanity from the course of the past 6 years and I want to know if someone's been formally studying this.

The way we interact with eachother has changed dramatically. The individualism in society has grown exponentially from what I see. The individualism really seems to have created less tolerance towards others and feels directly responsible for the loneliness epidemic.

But is this true? Or is this my limited experience talking?

Y'know... If school was cheaper and more accessible... This is the sort of thing I would study. I want to learn about this sort of thing. I want to study this sort of thing. I want to meet people from different walks of life and just talk about their experiences with a shared goal of learning and collaboration and work towards some sort of goal for the better of all of us.

But instead I just work retail and higher education feels like a completely unattainable pipe dream because of the insane financial cost and my personal lack of focus.

Maybe what I actually crave is just connection. Idk

NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.

Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.

YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.

DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.

SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.

YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.

As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what they’re designing.

I will say I do *deeply* wish that Palworld had a 'move' mode in the build menu and not just build or disassemble.

I am so sick of building something, realizing I hate the way it's placed, then having to destroy it, figure out where I need to stand to get it aligned properly, and then *rebuild* it, which can take literally 5+ minutes for higher level machinery.

I'm just living with a really wonkily placed Crude Oil Extractor and a Production Line 2 that's slightly dangling off its platform because I don't want to deal with rebuilding. Give us Move Mode!!

since i hurt my back i have been just playing palworld and breeding lots of pals so i dont do anything to extraneous and i made a mega fast little Taratriss boy named Sockies and I love him. he has Dimensional leap, swift, runner, and i fleetfooted i think its called, the one t hat gives you an extra jump. I made him so i could easily traverse this place my friends found that wont let you fly over when i started feeling better and i havent tried yet. but now that im feeling good enough to draw a bit again maybe i will soon. Sockies has been a huge help around the base we made which is this beautiful multistory japanese style castle. i became very attached to him. I am glad this adorable little man exists so naturally i spent days wanting to doodle him. there is like zero art of male Tarantriss atleast what I have found so maybe mine is the first idk. anyways I hope you all love this!
