I said I wasn’t gonna make a ship dynamics thing because I could only think of one common pattern in my ships… and then I just… kept thinking about it ^^;; I have a sneaking suspicion I’d come up with even more if I kept at it.
‘Course, a lot of these overlap, and they’re not all necessarily romantic dynamics - extremely competent teams are fun no matter what their relation to each other, and that “Adventurous & Voice of Reason” one in particular also works really good for platonic friends or siblings, imo
So in the spirit of that, here’s a bonus platonic dynamic that is nonetheless one of my favorites:
@nightblossomasmr literally chronos and the listener for the last onel
Okay but like I just want to point out that the very first one is possibly the Dark Star and Fawful with the very last one 100% Fawful and Cackletta
Ship dynamic is the hot new meme over on twitter so you know I had to drop everything and jump on it
So here is some gourmet shit from my own selection
Since tumblr blacklists post with links, please check out my blog for links for: commission info, patreon, and more ways to support me!

more favorite ship dynamics… and to those wondering, ‘dumbass + dumbass’ isn’t its own category since that’s the foundation of every relationship
[part 3]
The mood swing in tone on a show that has this ship dynamic would be hilarious. Just…the smile of the blue one is like-“I’ll beat this guy up real quick and then we’ll talk about that tv show u like over tea, k? Won’t be too long now, he’s already dead in my book.”
here’s MY favorite dynamics
This… um. Do people just put “homestuck police” on random posts to confuse those that have never read it, or is this actually a real post? Honestly. Whenever I see “homestuck” on a nonsensical post my brain just goes “oh. Must be another weird homestuck think. Okay” and moves on.
okay, there, enjoy

@barbatosnt But which ones are our ships???
@slantednotstraight us????
woah i was literally about to say i feel like both the tol calm and the tol chaotic all at once so on the outside i appear -_- but on the inside im plotting like (๑•ૅㅁ•๑)
Top 5 ship dynamics. :)
I’m not the biggest shipper so I can only really think of three right now:
The Troublemaker who falls in love first with The Saint
The Leader and their Right Hand Man
The Goof and the Serious One
Thank you for the ask! ^__^
Some ship dynamics that I like (I noticed that I drew A’s arm wrong in 1 but it’s ok you get the idea) I also like stupid dork x shy/kind LOL
This is a well-stated and reasonable depiction of these forms of relationships. I should use Tumblr more often after seeing some stuff like this. Personally I enjoy seeing 4, 6, as well as 8. though a few tragic ones would balance out overwhelming positives in a story. You gotta have some conflict, or you just get too fluffy. 8 seems like a lazy idea, but I think may be great if written well.
Here’s my contribution to shipping dynamics.
The Signs At The Fair:
Aries: Has their arm stuck in the ski-ball machine up to the elbow. Several workers are attempting to help. They cannot. The ski-ball machine has them.
Taurus: Scaling the tilt-a-whirl with a socket wrench in their teeth.
Gemini: Springing from the shadows and stealing funnel cake from fair-goers. They have a horde in the hall of mirrors.
Cancer: In a fistfight.
Leo: Waiting in line for something. A cloud of dust circles them continuously. Its hard to get a good look at them.
Virgo: Comforting a crying child by telling them about the fair catacombs.
Libra: Mesmerized by the glass blower. They’ve been there for days.
Scorpio: Makes sure the haunted house is properly haunted. None of that store bought shit.
Ophiuchus: Stole a horse.
Sagittarius: Has a hotdog. Overjoyed.
Capricorn: Constantly lost in a crowd. They are effectively invisible. They move among the fair unseen, yet seeing all.
Aquarius: Sitting atop the pancake stand and people watching. Several people have told them to come down. They do not. They are lost in thought.
Pisces: Still in the parking lot. They think that’s the fair.
“You can’t have xir,” spits the villain “Xe’s mine, now.”
“Xe is my child-” the superhero starts, only to be cut off
“Really?” ze snarls “Where were you when xe needed help with xir homework, when xe wanted to talk about xir days. Xe may not be mine by blood, but xe is my child and I will never take that for granted.”
“Are you real?”
“Yeah. Sorry. I’m sure you’d rather see [X] but-”
“No! It’s okay, [Y], just please don’t leave me. Please stay with me? Please don’t go-”
“X, come here. I need to talk to you about your parent.”
“Oh, boy. Was xe having an affair? Did you kick xir out?”
“Xe’s dead.”
"How are you still alive?"
"Eight shots of espresso and a hell of a lot of rage."
-- from an incomplete scene
Rich was, Rich is
I remember when rich was two dollars to spend on a tin of mints
Rich was a Snapple on a roadtrip
Rich was dinosaur band aids and always wearing shorts
Rich was slips of paper with people's phone numbers in a repurposed band aid tin
Rich was petting a fuzzy dog and sharing duplo blocks
Rich was having candy at the football game I never wanted to go to, but went to see my brother perform at halftime anyway
Rich was a lemonade when seeing my dad perform covers of eighties music with his friends
Now, rich has evolved.
Rich is a full bottle of ibuprofen when a friend asks for some
Rich is a bottle of sunscreen for the long afternoon rehearsals
Rich is extra food for those days when a friend of a friend forgot their lunch
Rich is ten dollars neatly tucked away for later use
Rich is getting more than four hours of sleep
Rich is a full tank of gas and a place to go
Rich is being able to say "Mom, I'm home!"
Rich is a friend offering you gum and a shoulder to cry on
Rich is friends worrying about my sleeping habits when I just laugh and tell them that I probably won't sleep tonight either
Rich is attending parties and feeling included
Rich used to mean something different. Oh, how we have changed.
He used to tell me, "I wish I could shed this skin, this life. I wish I could *be* something, someone different." while looking out into the wide expanse of the night sky. I would turn to him and promise that we'd make it out of this place together.
We applied to the training facility together, brother and sister in solidarity. What's the worst that could happen, we rationalized. We told no one of this at the time, but our answer came in the form of a message. I was accepted. He was not.
Suddenly it felt all too real. I didn't want to leave home. I especially didn't want to leave with my sister's necklace and brother's bandana, but the two allotted weeks passed and I boarded the ship to new horizons.
I studied hard at the training facility. I studied until I was the top of my class, then studied harder because everyone hated me there. Studying was my only solace. I waited for messages that came every three days, then every week, then every month, then stopped all together. Still, my communicator lay beside me every night as I waited for my mother or father or one of my many siblings to call. I hardly slept.
When I was assigned to my ship, I was glad. Finally, I could go out and experience the galaxy. I'd tell my brother all about it when he called! Weeks passed with no word from home. I stopped waiting for it at some point.
Out of the blue, I had gotten a message on my communicator. I checked it in my quarters, as is protocol, but the news was rather troubling. My father had gotten in an altercation with the neighbors. When the police had tried to stop him by force, the setting on the taser was for the wrong species. The guard had been let of with a warning and my father dead. I thought it would stop there, but it continued to say that my mother had been diagnosed with a terminal illness while I was away at the training facility and, upon hearing the fate of her husband, died from shock. I couldn't keep myself from tears that night.
I was allowed a brief time to grieve and visit my family. At night, I sat on the roof with my brother and stared at the stars as we had so many times before. I said, "You could be something else if you wanted to." I wanted to tell him that I was living his dream, that he should be up there instead of me.
"Don't be naive," he said, turning to me. "It was stupid to think I'd ever get out of here, and it's stupid to think I could be anything else." He laughed. "You lived my dream. You succeeded and lived my dream, and what did I do? I did what I always had because I was too scared to change. Whatever. Dreams aren't worth the trouble."
He stood and made to leave.
"But," I began, stilling him. "But what if I told you what it was like up there? I was always willing to share your dream. One day, I'll take you to see the fruits of it, I promise."
"It was from a movie created by a famous animation company, one with long dead voice actors and a happy ending."
