since you can't spell pit babe without pain (at least in some language) HEAR ME OUT

the confrontation that happens when kim wants to know why - after everything that happened between them - it was pete who kenta texted to give signs of life and updates on whatever he discovered. because, to be perfectly honest, kim is hurt. he thought they were getting somewhere or, at the very least, kenta would have the basic courtesy to inform him he was fine after pulling a stunt like that but no.

so i need kim to look at kenta with a little bit of despair in his eyes and ask “you still don’t trust me?” kenta looks away and answers, “it's not that.”

and maybe kim scoffs as his temper flares and goes “then what? are you that desperate to get him to notice you?” and maybe he's feeling extra spiteful and adds on, “because he didn't. the only thing he cared about was the information he might get out of you.”

kenta finally meets kim’s eyes and quietly answers, “i know. which is why i picked him and not you.”

because kim cares. because kenta knows if he wrote kim, kim would have been in a car, driving to him in the next 30 seconds, mission be damned. because kim is warm and safe and the way he makes kenta’s chest squeeze had no place in that lab. because kenta needed to be cold and focused to survive and kim would have been a distraction.

THISS but it’s also the way the kenta has spent a lifetime learning just how unloveable he is. how unworthy of the kind of thing lovers follow each other back into the hands of a man like tony for. he said it himself – tony and pete. the only two people he’d ever had. and pete didn’t come back, not for kenta, not when it mattered. and it’s a point that proves itself right when he’s captured and he tells them not to come for him, that charlie isn’t there, he won’t be, and that’s that. the matter is resolved, then – nevermind that this is the man who pulled the trigger on tony the first time, back in the belly of the beast all on his own, fresh out of second chances. charlie isn’t there, so they can all wash their hands of the issue and focus on the people worth the effort it takes to save.

kenta is not one of them. he knows that. he knows pete won’t come for him. that is the sort of wound only a fool lets kill him twice.

kenta has spent a lifetime learning love backwards – love is cruel and love is controlling, or love leaves you with the devil and doesn’t come back. love is manipulation, or love is betrayal. and then kim happens, and he flips everything kenta’s ever known on its head. he’s confusing. he cares. he’d come, if kenta called, and what is kenta supposed to do with that?

love isn’t kind but kim is and that is not something he was ever taught.

"which is why i picked him and not you.” because kim would come and kim would be a distraction, but also because kim would come. that is not the kind of thing that happens to people like kenta. this man is a wet dog and he’s in over his head and he’s just realized he has a lifetime of relearning love to do and what now?

i’m deadass when i say this but skynani are slowly becoming firstkhao. in the way they go about their friendship. they may not cry every time they talk about each other but they’re built like them

hey jsyk while hellofresh is dummy expensive and i wouldn’t reccomend it if you already know how to cook (if you’re a beginner like i was when i had it for 3 months, then it’s worth it), you should know that ALL OF THEIR RECIPES are free on their website and they all fuck hard

i will say that all the cooking instructions for veggies are pretty much the same (season with salt + pepper and roast on the top oven rack at 425F), but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

that being said, it also introduced me to methods i wasn’t at all expecting. i would have never thought to use cream cheese in my meat sauce, and now all my friends are constantly asking me to make my special rigatoni.

I am a person who uses Hello Fresh for realsies because it is a bit cheaper than groceries here and definitely cheaper than takeout, but we also remake the recipes when we want a specific one and don't want to wait for it to come around in the rotation again, and therefore I know The Secret Translations of Proprietary Ingredients:

"Cream sauce base" = make a roux, add milk according to how much cream sauce base you're supposed to have (ex: 4 oz cream sauce base = 4 oz milk)

"1 packet stock concentrate" = either one tablespoon Better than Bullion or, if you want to be really accurate, Savory Choice Broth Concentrate packets are available on Amazon and allegedly that's what they use

"Italian Heat Spice"/"Blackening Spice"/"Fry Seasoning"/etc.: I promise you someone on Reddit has figured out what spices they use and in what proportions for each mix, if it's not just a straight up branded mix (like McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon spice mix)

"Roasted Garlic Herb Butter" (and other compound butters, like truffle butter) = they're literally Epicurean branded butters, they do not hide this, you can buy them online

"Sweet Soy Glaze"/"Ponzu sauce"/"Hoisin sauce" = literally Kikkoman brand condiments: they don't hide that, either

"Sweet Thai chili sauce" = any sweet Thai chili sauce from the grocery store will do. We use Blue Dragon or Taste of Thai because that's what we can get in our grocery store.
