Thinking about a yandere scenario where you are kidnapped by some sort of gang for a trafficking ring, but then the yandere you grew to be best friends with over the course of a few months saves you, revealing their more bloodthirsty nature in the process by killing all of the kidnappers.
They hold you by your shoulders and pull you close for a hug. You're stunned obviously, but grateful nonetheless. Still, with their efficiency in killing it begs the question:
"Are you like... some sort of serial killer?" you ask.
Even spattered with blood and smelling like copper they somehow manage to look sheepish, heat radiating off their skin as they purse their lips.
"Does that bother you?" They ask.
"I mean... it's scary. Unnerving, most definitely. But you saved my life so I'm like, pretty certain there's no room to be picky." You half chuckle. They involuntarily grin, looking down at their shoes. Your humor was always so deadpan and biting without being condescending. It was one of your many shining points.
Then suddenly you ask, "Are you going to hurt me?"
When they look back up, your expression is pensive and somewhat vacant. Your eyes looked past and at all of them. It was like you were waiting or reserving a reaction before anything popped off.
You were scared obviously, but it seemed you were also bracing yourself for the same horror that befell your captors.
They wondered where you found the nerve to be so brave... and somehow very, very, stupid.
It should have been obvious to anyone - especially you - that they were madly in love with you. They would have never hurt you!
...at least that's what they wanted to say.
And whether it be for a lack of better wording, or some ravenous section of their brain stirred in the presence of prey, they could only manage these words.
"If I ever wanted to hurt you... It'd be in a hell of a lot nicer place than this.~"
