‘‘no, he wasn’t--  but what are ya gonna do right? i only proved that i wasn’t a big failure like he thought i’d be. though... the way my service ended probably proved i wasn’t cut out for the military like i thought i was.’‘ he murmured, hand rubbing his chin in thought with that grin still plastered on his face. ‘‘i struggled so long after i got out of the military, had some lows and thought... thought i wouldn’t get out of that hole. but now i’m out of it, and i’m cherishing everything. being sober, having a girlfriend that loves me and just being in a town with a familiar family friend.’‘

“Can’t argue with that,” Madi responded with a chuckle and a shake of her head. “Dads could definitely be something else, now can’t they? If he can’t understand your decisions and appreciate what you’ve done, then it’s his loss.” She returned the playful punch and furrowed her brows. “Don’t underestimate me, I’m tougher than I look. How’s Maeve? You behaving with her?” She teased, giving him a look.

‘‘Honestly the old bat never did get me. Remember it was always a screaming match with us?’‘ It was like the whole situation was amusing him now thinking back to it.  But he shakes off his thoughts of the past, head snapping up at her question once she mentions Maeve. ‘‘Oh me? Yeah always. She uh-- told me she loved me, y’know? i got so excited-- ah, at first i was stunned. but I told her I loved her back and it’s been going strong with her.’‘

“That’s the million dollar question these days, isn’t it?” Madi responded with a chuckle, stepping out of the way for Elliot to go inside. “Come in. Make yourself at home. Home was good. I missed my mom more than I thought. My dad was still a pain in the ass. How are you though? How’s everything?”

‘‘Really? That’s something our dad’s seem to have in common. Mine STILL CAN’T seem to get over how I left to fight a war over staying in farm world.’‘ He says with a grumble, but still-- lips are curled up into a tiny smile as he punches her arm playfully. ‘‘Everything... is still the same, I guess. Not much changed.’‘

“I’D STILL find my way in, dearest brother of mine.” she made her way over to elliot, frowning slightly as she took in the bandage that was currently wrapped around his midsection. “did you do this yourself? are you okay?” leave it to her brother to play off his injuries like it was nothing. “did you at least clean your cuts?” abigail helped him with his shirt, letting out a sigh. once she was finished, she made her way over to the couch and plopped down, claiming it as her own. “is there a reason why you called me earlier? sorry i didn’t answer - i was uh, i was busy.”

so he buttons it up, only grimacing slightly as he tries to adjust and make himself comfortable-- arms folding over his chest. ‘’yeah, yeah i’m fine. swear i am you know? tackled the suspect and it.. escalated from there.’’ moving to sit down beside her, elliott nudges her shoulder playfully. ‘’yeah, i just wanted to talk about some things with you. something i should’ve done a while back, but just never had the gull to do it. so if you got some time, maybe.. we catch up a little more?’’

      “LITERALLY EVERY TEENAGER i know would do so in a heartbeat, maybe some kids too” she lamented with a sigh, then, a bright grin appeared on her features “i could turn him into yoda. or- damn, what’s the one who looks like a slug? i keep getting dragged into watching the movies but end up with zero recollection of it all.”

‘‘TEENAGERS ARE ASSHOLES. i know because i was an asshole.. through the teens and into the twenties.’‘ he said with a chuckle, eyes rolling playfully but her words make his brow raise for a moment as he tries to think of the character, finger tapping his chin in thought. ‘‘jabba the hutt? you can probably make that work. but i’d go for yoda before... yoda is an iconic piece in the series.’‘

“Oh shit!” Davina exclaimed as she found herself falling. She had been riding her skateboard through the streets when her board hit a crack in the road. “Ugh…total wipe out,” she groaned with a laugh. She had managed to catch herself on her hands and knees, and while she was sure the fall could’ve been worse, her hands were scraped and her knees were sure to be bruised. Wearing shorts didn’t help the situation either. “Damn…” she cursed with a sigh. Davina stood herself up, shaking her hands out before looking around for her skateboard that had gotten away from her. “Anyone seen a rogue board?” She called out. Maybe it rolled farther than she thought.

to get his mind off work, what better way to take the puppy out for a walk right? it was working, he felt himself starting to come back to reality a little bit rather than being.. caught up in the job. the voice snaps him out of his thought, and he looks down to see thor had been pawing at the board. elliott picks up the board with one hand, while the other held tightly onto thor’s leash as he jogged over. ‘’i believe this rogue board belongs to you?’’

he probably looks like a mess, working so much and barely getting any sleep. elliott looks around for a moment, hand pushing through his hair in an attempt to get it out of his face. ‘’--yeah, sure. let’s go.. with-- sorry, i’m not even gonna lie, i got.. no idea what you said. ROUGH day.’’

It had been almost five years since Madison left her hometown to move to Springhill. She kept in touch with her mom mostly and occasionally her dad. Needless to say they were in for quite the surprise when she paid a surprise visit to Pennsylvania. Madi had the bad habit of running away when things got tough, which is why she left her hometown in the first place and ironically it was where she ran back to to get her head together. It was only a few days, but spending that time with her mother was definitely something she needed and made her realize how much she missed her. Alas, Madi was no longer a kid and learned by now she couldn’t always run away; the past has a way of catching up to you. She was only back in her home a few hours and had just gotten comfortable on her couch when she heard a knock at the door. She lazily got up again, not caring about her current lounging attire, and walked to her door. She opened the door, smiling slightly at the person standing before her, “Hey. Good afternoon. Or evening. I don’t even know what time it is, honestly,” she chuckled a bit, running a hand through her hair. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” @shstarters​
