how far i'll go

The brunette blushed slightly before signing ‘thank you’. “I’m just..not meant to be a doctor. I’m not like my mom and dad, I’m not them.”

Ellie sighed before she began to sign. “My mom and dad...I know they’ve gotta be angry. And then everyone else. People asking about Chris. People asking about my future. Being compared to Ellis Grey.”

“Well it’s not worth your mouth getting burnt to a crisp.” she leaned back against the pillows on the couch, sighing softly. “I’ve been good, just doing the teen mom thing. Brought everyone presents from New York so that I can buy their love. How about you? What were you doing?”

“He’s great. Loved spending some time with his great-grandma but kept asking about you.” She smiled at him before speaking again. “He’s even learned a few more signs. He’s really excited to show you them.”

El sat down before she started to sign, as well as speak. “I had to get away, Isaac. Between my name and my family, I couldn’t stay here. And Chris, he needed some time away. I’m sorry.”

“And that’s why you’re one of my favorite Shepherds,” Sofia said with a wink. “So, um, I feel… a slight obligation to ask where you’ve been. Just to make sure you weren’t, like, kidnapped by the mafia or something.”

“Would I be your absolute favorite if I said that I brought gifts?” she said hopefully as she pulled a bag out from behind her. She sighed before sitting next to Sofia. “I was living with my aunt and uncle in New York with Chris.”

“Oh come on, first Isaac, now you?” She slumped down in her chair before nodding. “Yep. Pulled ‘em out about a half hour ago.”
