normalize casting a break up spell on your friend who has awful taste in men and who is about to chain herself to her deadbeat nothing burger of a boyfriend who offers her absolutely nothing not even the bare minimum

Update: I did in fact cast a break up spell on them

2 candles to represent the targets (placed on pieces of paper with their names and birthdays on them)

a mirror, rosequartz, citrin and obsidian placed around my friend's candle to help her look inward, see her worth and gain the self-respect she needs to realize she deserves better and then rid herself of this man

a shrimply apple with their names and birthdays written on each side to represent their relationship (I chose the side with the shrimpliest, grossest spot to write his name on because that man is GROSS)

after cutting the apple I drew a line of salt (purification), pepper (banishment) and chili flakes (all of that but with a bit of a mean zest to it) between the candles and the two halves of the apple. I also placed a smokey quartz (banishment) for good measure

tarot cards to narrate how the story will go:

two of cups reversed (realizing the bad and the ugly of the relationship and realizing it has to end)

the tower (the inevitable end and destruction of the relationship aka a breakup)

death (moving towards new beginnings and leaving the old behind)

the sun (happiness, light at the end of the tunnel, a bright future)

In terms of the process, I mostly just yapped at my friend's candle, as if I was talking directly to her, listed all of the bad things her boyfriend's done and why he's no good for her, told her how wonderful of a person she is and that she's finally seeing that and realizing that she deserves a lot better than what he's giving her. I also told his candle that he will not fight the breakup and that he will put his tail between his legs and go "yes of course, you are absolutely right". At the end I played my friend two songs (you make me sick by ashnikko and better by myself by hey violet)

I will keep their candles around and relight them every now and again to keep the energy of the spell going

Mindsets and approaches that have helped me manifest and build a stronger self-concept

🌱 Imagining myself as some sort of divine being looking at myself from the outside and rearranging this person's circumstances like shuffling around puzzle pieces

🌱 I imagine/feel like I'm throwing my manifestations into the tunnel-like stream of the universe, like express sending a package. Works a lot better for me than turning my feelings during manifesting inward as if I'm trying to convince myself of something.

🌱 Saying/Thinking things like "I'm not waiting around for manifestations, I don't have time for that. They're all instant" with a confident bitchy kind of attitude, like a business woman who seriously does not accept any kind of waiting (think Miranda Priestly).

🌱 Adding "I can't help it. That's just the way it is. I can't do anything about this [this being what I'm manifesting]" to my manifestations with a *shrugging* kind of attitude.

🌱 Adding "This is a fact/This is a fact about my reality" to my manifestations.

🌱 Embodying a fun, theatrically cocky/confident attitude of someone who actually doesn't need to be doing manifestation in the first place because they already have everything they want and it's always been like this (think people born into wealth and celebrity).

🌱 Not being afraid to be a little over the top when manifesting. Be it my attitude, my tone, the words I'm choosing or the details of the manifestation - being a little dramatic, over the top and maybe asking for a little "too much" has really helped me.

🌱 When a manifestation doesn't show up instantly or my 3D is showing me it's not here yet I go "That's so weird 🤨 because I already have it. (Example) My e-mails must be glitching right now because I already got that e-mail. Pff, strange. Anyway..." and then move on with my day.

🌱 Doing or repeating a bunch of manifestations (in my thoughts) when I'm going to sleep. I don't mean SATS. I mean lying down, closing my eyes, listing everything I'm getting as if they're simply mundane things all set to happen tomorrow in a relaxed-happy state of mind and then going to sleep. Super simple.

🌱 Stop saying pecimistic thoughts out loud, no matter what. Even if I have those thoughts/worries or assumption that something might not work out - I just don't vocalize them.

🌱 Instead, I'm making an effort to vocalize optimism and say things like "It's going to be fine. It'll work out." Doesn't even have to be confident or super deliberat. A childishly naive outlook on things just working out is something millions of people do every day without realizing it is in fact altering their reality.

🌱 Remembering that there is no outside force working against me and my manifestations. This is still difficult for me because I've always been someone who believes in The Universe kind of controling everything. But frequently reminding myself that there are no ill meaning or spiteful forces working against me is very helpful.

🌱 Listening to other people's success stories. It keeps me confident and convinced and shows me that anything is possible, especially when those success stories are bigger than what I'm trying to manifest (like let's say me manifesting 30 extra dollars in my bank account vs someone who succesfully manifested a thousand dollars).

🌱 Listening to songs about money and confidence and vibing and singing along to them (right now that's I Am by Yung Baby Tate for me).

🌱 Setting the rules myself. Afraid that your manifestations will cause the opposite? Simply decide, no, that is not how it works. Afraid that your (very human) doubts will hinder your manifestations? Tell it, no, that is just not how it works. Afraid that being desperate for results will stop them? Nope. Simply not how it works. Period.

Singing/listening to your favorite songs; this applies to any music, though

Listening to music while studying

Playing any instrument

Dedicating a journal to writing poetry or stories

Reading poetry books; reading ancient poetry/stories (especially ancient Greek poetry/stories)

Dancing to any music of your choice

Setting reminders to take medication on time; taking your medication in general

Taking care of your body physically, such as brushing one's teeth or taking a shower

Taking a walk on a sunny day; basking in the warmth of the light

Keeping a pic of him in your wallet

Wearing jewelry that reminds you of him

Keeping imagery of light/the sun, lyres, instruments, music, swans, cranes, or ravens around

Learning to do divination outside of the obvious (the obvious being tarot, runes, and pendulums, for example; not obvious would be cartomancy, pyromancy, carromancy, shufflomancy, etc.)

Doing homework (yes, really)

Being kind to yourself when you're having a difficult time

Placing positive affirmations on somewhere you'd see them everyday, especially ones about things you're proud of

Checking in with yourself emotionally throughout the day; how are you feeling? What are some good things that have happened so far? What are some not so good things?

Learning about philosophy and taking note of your thoughts on the topic

Learning more about yourself (e.g. make a list of things you enjoy, try new hobbies, experiment with new outfits, etc.)

Expressing yourself through art of any kind

Having a candle that reminds you of him (no altar needed)

Keeping a personal journal/diary - somewhere where you can keep track of your thoughts and feelings

Practice compassion and patience, especially with yourself

Continue learning throughout your life; interesting topics, philosophy, music, psychology, physical health, etc.

Learn about any medical conditions you or a loved one has

Learn about your healthcare options and medical rights (HIPPA in the US)

Support education forward, humanitarian, healthcare, or homeless shelter organizations

Volunteer at a homeless shelter

Donate clothes, toys, hygiene kits, and other items; hygiene kits are always needed

Be kind to children; play with them if offered

Make a list of things that make you feel human throughout the year - moments where you feel present, content, and alive

Sharpen your mind; play memory or mentally stimulating games

Practice drawing, painting, or similar artistic activities

On Helpol tumblr there has been some discourse on the worship of Ares and it is completely justified for a personal practice why someone would not honour him. However, though, I would enjoy to bring up points from history on a reconstruction angle on why to worship Ares. I appreciate the critical examination into who and what we worship—we should be more critical of stately portrayals of the divine and understand ancient politics less we reconstruct something wretched. These points are sourced from Cults and sanctuaries of Ares and Enyalios: A survey of the literary, epigraphic, and archaeological evidence by Matthew Paul Gonzales.

It is deeply historically attested, for anyone thinking that it was not. The anti-Ares classical sentiment can be traced back to WWII for reasons that do not need explaining. The emphasis on his pathetic myths also partially stem from this.

Ares was and is deeply concerned with justice and Dike is described as his lead. He is shown as the blood vengeance in particular, which still does have modern importance—many of us endorse the guillotine. This could inspire modern worshippers to take to action for causes to support good, justice, and love in their communities. Love and war, mayhaps?

He is also connected to peace and restraining violence alongside war-like desires. This is depicted in the homeric hymnal.

Ares is also close to defending land, especially that of floral and agricultural bounty: he is often positioned with fertility goddesses, such as Aphrodite, Despoina, and Cybele.

He is a vengeful protector, when people are wronged or land is stolen and waged against. Athens used this for defending their land—chaining Ares to the land meanings bringing in his power to serve you and your land’s interests. I do not endorse the usage of this to support oppressive regimes, but it could be adapted in a more liberation focused fashion.

Through Ares, some facets of prosperity is given, and I do not take it as a coincidence he is paired with Athena, who directs while Ares rushes.

Worship is also used to avoid conditions; Apollon to keep the plague away, Ares to keep war and strife away, such as his homeric hymn entails.

Courage is also stated to be a condition he gifts.

Lastly, I find it of vast importance to establish modern ideas of gods that are honest to the historical record and finds fluidity in them. Gods can change and they can be discussed with. Perhaps this is my Roman pagan influences, but we can influence and argue with the gods on points we believe in—for justice and ultimate good, as Zeus does mandate divine justice. We can show Ares, more than he already knows and has, the importance of supporting the revolutionary, and we can invoke his power in fighting for the sovereignty of nature. I am also personally fond of the feminist interpretations of him, and while not likely accurate to history, we should be adapting and developing with the gods in the modern period. Ares as a symbol of violently defending women against patriarchy is ripe for expression and movement, though not without due issues.

We should be striving towards ultimate good and Ares’ power in the modern era, with a modern lens, can continue to give weight to this pursuit. If he can encourage us and take a stand against the machismo ideas of “spartan” ideals that dudebros often have, we can make beneficial cultural changes. The gods do not just belong to history, they are history, and Historia is here to inspire and defeat us at every turn. 

I will say my dea Bellona is more of the historical revolution divinity that people want. She has a lot more of the epigraphic record to support this, but nonetheless, there are many reasons to honour Ares outside of war. Especially in his connections to nature and fertility, which strikes my heart happily as a sustainable agriculturalist. If it is Ares that can motivate more Hellenic pagans to embrace liberation and revolutionary ideas, that is something to preserve.

And regardless, if I can worship Ker without expecting much benefit, we can easily worship a god that is not literal murder.

Devotional acts can be a perfect way for you to honour the gods if you can't make offerings or if you have to practice in secret (of course you can still do it in addition to typical offerings). But always remember that they don't need to be anything big and sometimes just taking a shower, getting out of bed or eating can be a devotional act if your mental health is making it difficult for you to practice. And even if you don't have the energy to practice at all, always remember that the gods understand and love you nonetheless<3

Shake It Off Salt Spell

This is one I really like. I used to keep a small bowl at the ready (refreshed weekly), though I now just make smaller bowls whenever the need strikes.

This is one I crafted for those days when my insecurities are a little too heavy. I am definitely my biggest critic and my own worst enemy some days. So, for when those negative thoughts are loud.

Materials

Small bowl

Salt

Crushed rosemary

Pinch of black pepper

Combine salt, rosemary, and pepper in a bowl.

Dip your fingers in the mixture, then flick it away from you and say, "Not mine to carry."

You may want to rest your fingers in the salt first, taking a moment to let those negative thoughts and feelings be absorbed. As you flick the salt away, visualize your insecurities being flung away.

Follow up with any self-care activity that feels right to you. Personally, I'm fond of having a cup of rose or lavender tea.

At this point I've gotten really good at manifesting instant and concistent money to come through my passive income avenues but I still struggle with manifesting getting certain things in gacha games or shiny pokemon. Does anyone have any tips?

herbs & crystals for transmutation ✨

in short, transmutation is simply defined as the action of changing. in witchcraft, transmutation is commonly used to transform negative energy into positive energy, but can be used in any instance. by that i mean that you can transmute, or change, whatever type of energy you're collecting into whatever type of energy you want! this includes acts of love, cursing, glamours, abundance, etc. get creative.

A few days ago I did my first prayer to Aphrodite in years. It consisted of only a pink candle and rose incense and an apple as offerings. After I ended the prayer and walked away from the table I kept feeling this bad vibe coming from it, as if she was displeased (I'm never sure about picking up these sorts of vibes correctly so I don't know if I really did upset her or what).

Today I did another prayer. This time I also put some other things around the pink candle (a sea shell, the lioness figurine that used to be on her altar and a piece of rosequarz) and offered her rose incence and a cup of tea. Earlier that day I had also brushed up on some of Aphrodite's myths as a devotional act and repeated to her what I had learned during the prayer. This time the energy felt nothing but good and warm.

Final thoughts: I know people like to say that the Theoi don't care about what material things you can give them and how grand your worship is able to be and while I agree with this absolutely, I have a feeling that Aphrodite just wanted more from me after that first prayer. Which is fair enough, given that I had abandoned my worship. Can't hurt to give Lady Aphrodite a little something extra.
