The beauty of fabric shopping is overwhelming... it just brings the collections and colour palette together and makes a happy designer.
Some really inspiring photos of details, prints and fabrics that have inspired my designs in the my current project for 3rd year.
Textiles collaboration, this project was inspired by the apocalypse if it was to happen. Which gave a war like vibe, with the camouflage colours. The abstract textile pieces are inspired by the worn down, historic items in the photographs.
Experimenting with oil paints, Using different brushes and techniques to show a more textured appearance. This piece was inspired by gold glitter. At the top of the canvas it made more of a bruising effect which wasn't the idea, but still works well.
Styling for this shoot was very different to the hands on work I usually do. This shoot was inspired by the 1950s, with a modern twist. The professional experience was inspiring. In this shoot I worked with a photography student and another fashion student at NUA, a make up artist and a model.Â
Textiles Collaboration, this project was based on British nature, my simplistic designs, illustrated grass and flowers, photoshopping skills and the use of digital printing on fabric, with illustrator Stevie Burton’s realistic animal illustrations combined to make a shift dress in cotton drill. Â

Using a wool blend which was first tested with all machines to see the reaction. It was pushed forward to use for toiling.Â
Continuing to toile one of the tailored final line ups. Their were lots of toiles made till the final one was perfected, this stage was still one of the many made in calico.Â
Following a holiday in Greece seeing the sea life and going on a simple day out to the Sea life centre to inspire a tailored collection using the theme under the sea. Looking at inner textures and patterns with in the photographs taken and developed into silhouettes and details that created the collection.
The main detail ideas, these four images in the center inspire my under water theme and I consider these shapes and techniques modern and futuristic.
This development research uses layered pictures showing minimal imagery through one another. This research could be used as detail on a garment by layering fabrics and appliquéing them on.
