Thank you very much, Nancy! Sorry to respond so late - this Tumblr reply thing has us perplexed, and it would appear that some of your earlier comments were bumped as you made new comments. We're still new to Tumblr, so bear with us!
That said, we have not used the kit yet. There's still plenty of time, though!
We thought we might use it today, but then there was this sign, so we stayed back.

Something Borrowed Something Blue
While visiting my parents in Indianapolis mother presented me with a little gift. There were two items, one a little blue stone on a pin. And the second, on loan, a small perfume bottle that belonged to a family friend. There are also three dresses hanging in her closet that we are hoping to try on if we can manage to kick the men out for a little while this morning. (The first shipment had some possibilities but no real winners.) So our untraditional wedding kit continues to build with a few essential traditions.
So, this is the tester EWK logo. After much review and collaboration with my most awesome fiancé, I believe that this could work. Why a logo? Why the heck not!?!? Gretchen and I must ensure that all the details are covered!

Well this arrived it the mail...
So my mom and I have been pinning dresses. The first shipment arrived today. FaceTime fashion show to happen soon! -G-
The EWK
Yes, as Gretchen has already put it, we're engaged and extremely happy!
That said, we're not in any hurry to tie the knot immediately, and what pleases us the most is the idea that we can wake up some morning, put on some nice clothes, and share that moment together in whatever crazy location or situation we feel appropriate.
Because we are in need of a portable solution for those very basic wedding supplies, it has been determined that we need to create the "Emergency Wedding Kit" (or EWK for short...).
What basic accessories? Well, here's the current list:
Rings (obviously!)
Camera (we take LOTS of pictures)
Wedding License (probably important)
Pen (to sign said license)
Wine (a NECESSITY)
Wine Glasses (hey, we have some class!)
Corkscrew (drinking wine is key here)
Now I'm a sucker for a well designed casing solution with custom foam, so make no mistake - this thing will look good, withstand a bear attack, and be waterproof in the event of a chance flood in Phoenix.
So, whether we find ourselves on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean, skydiving over Brazil, camping in a lava tube in Hawaii, or staying the night in a monastery in Tibet, we may just decide that that's the moment. And when it happens, whenever that shall be - our happiness will know no bounds, and we'll be ready to seal the deal with our EWK.

Introduction
Hi! We are Gretchen and Dave.
We got engaged a little over a month ago. If you are one of our fiends or family members you have may have already heard about our emergency wedding kit - if you have stumbled on this blog through some late night surfing - well welcome.
A little bit about us: We love being active outdoors, hiking, biking, canoeing are all things we enjoy.
(that is us biking through San Francisco, we also like to travel.) We also are big music fans and enjoy live music, we are big appreciators of the local scene in Phoenix and like catching tours as they come through the valley.
(that’s us before a show at the Crescent).
OK, A little bit more about it - the juicier stuff: we have known each other for over 10 years but only started dating a year ago after meeting on an online dating site. We have both been married before and we are both fairly private. For those and other reasons we have decided to go a less than traditional route for our wedding.
When asked about our wedding plans the honest to goodness answer is: we don’t really know. What we do know is that we are getting ready for it. We are building our Emergency Wedding Kit that we’ll have at the ready for whenever the moment is right. Dave LOVES telling about the kit so I’ll let him fill in the details of that. What I can say is that that we are having a ton of fun putting this kit together and thought it would be fun to share the process.
The journey Dave and I have taken to find each other has been long and meandering but we are together now and the steps ahead are full of hope, excitement and love. I’m pleased to share our future with friends and family. And for those of you who are late night internet stumblers, well again, welcome.
