There’s been a lot of comments across multiple platforms, majority (surprisingly) supportive.

The responses are *so* interesting though. And I kinda wanna highlight some of the public ones. A highlight reel of sorts I guess? But also I just wanna say I really appreciate the comments you make to me because y’all keep noticing and pointing out stuff I hadn’t even processed yet below the surface stuff, like how the mediator never actually apologized about implying I had never experienced “real trauma” 🫠

Majority of the white folks that actually read through it all are horrified by what I got proof of folks saying. A few are trying to justify it or outright refuse to read it. The latter seem to be heavily anarchists afaict?

I’ve personally used both the flat single-filter version AND the triangular two-filter version, and based on subjective personal experience I would argue that the benefits from the second filter, both in terms of airflow and filtration, are absolutely worth it. If you need a makeshift air filter and you have two filters to work with, build the triangle (if not the box, i have no idea how good that one works but based on the info here i presume it’s a fair bit better.)

I know you're still figuring things out about it but what do you think of the steam machines operating system? All i have is a laptop that could die at any moment and i was thinking about a steam machine instead of a gaming laptop but idk if it would work like that

Talking purely software and OS: If your main concern is gaming, SteamOS is genuinely one of the best choices assuming you are okay with the occasional bit of tinkering and researching how to do specific stuff online if you ever run into an edge case. It has a ton of customizability and the only real major downside is that there are a selection of games which require a level of anti-cheat that Linux is not currently permitted to translate through Proton, which is how a vast majority of games run on SteamOS/Linus to begin with. The games that tend to not work are usually limited to modern online games like your Call of Duty's and your Destiny's and your Fortnite's. But otherwise the overall performance benefits, lack of bloat, severence from Microsoft entirely, and wide community support are incredible benefits. And if push REALLY comes to shove and you absolutely require windows for something, it is fully possible to install Windows on the system as a separate bootable partition or just replace the OS with it altogether. But I wouldn't personally recommend the Steam Machine if you don't intend to use SteamOS haha, there are more sensible options for sure.

If your focus isn't very specifically the likes of simple stuff SteamOS is good at like gaming and web browsing and discord calls and whatnot, you may need to look into what's possible for your specific needs. Linux is definitely not one-size-fits-all unfortunately. But man I've been in love with the Steam Deck and now the Steam Machine for so long now, the whole ecosystem is in a very good spot (pricing aside)

it is that simple, yes. a rich, powerful white man essentially said, "funny to be called a pedophile by a man wearing a lot of makeup" and expected everyone to laugh at it.

it's notable that the response was confusion. they knew that what he said was objectionable, they were trying to find a way to avoid that conclusion and couldn't find one. I also had this moment of confusion.

we, all of us, have been taught to dismiss and excuse transmisogyny. we've internalized it, the confusion happens automatically. deliberate effort is required to overcome that impulse to dismiss, and even that relies on us having noticed it happening at all.

he didn't acknowledge it because he knew he didn't have to. everyone in the room let it slide, they aired it uncritically, there is no outrage about it. it's just an awkward joke.

Also like. Most bigotry is unintentional. People acting on ingrained biases and repeating things they've been told their entire life without realizing what they're doing is far more common than deliberate attacks, that doesn't excuse or justify it.
