ems comment: hiiiii!! this lwk came to me randomly and i just started writing it and couldn’t stop, but i would like to note that the verbal abuse rag is because of Keys calling reader an insecure bitch, and i feel that does fall under the category. please don’t read if this could harm you!! You had just gotten off the phone with Millie, who happened to be your boyfriend of two years..old collaborator, supposed best friend at a point. The conversation began with her asking legal advice, due to your background in law, but it ended with you sat on the couch of ur boyfriend’s apartment, staring empty at the wall.
Dull, light headed, tears in your eyes as you started to question everything. All because you had found out that a week prior, the night you and Keys had a date planned that he had last minute canceled due to ‘food poisoning’ was actually canceled since his plans were replaced by helping his ‘old friend’ find a way to prove that Free City used stolen codes from Life Itself. The game he coded. For her.
Your issue wasn’t the fact he was alone..in his apartment..with the girl you knew he had previously had a crush on..the girl he had created a game with..the girl your relationship insecurities stemmed from, no. It was the fact he canceled your date, and LIED.
Many fights between the two of you were due to him and Millie’s ‘friendship’. You trusted Keys, without a doubt, but this pit in your stomach..
Your spiraling thoughts were interrupted by the opening of the apartment door, your head slowly turning to see Keys putting his computer bag on the ground and stepping out of his shoes.
“Why’d you lie?” you had managed to choke out
Keys snapped his head to look at you, startled at your crying, the anger yet disappointment lacing your voice.
“Baby what-what happened? Who lied?”
He had instantly rushed over to you, taking your face on his hand, wiping your tears with his thumbs.
“Friday. We had a date, we were going to cook pasta and watch a movie at my place. You said you got food poisiobibh from the lunch Antwan ordered that day.”
After a second of thinking, he hesitantly responded.
“Yea..yea, i did..it was bad chinese food,”
You had started to cry more. Form the fact he lied to your face again, and the fact he couldn’t even keep his story straight. The original thing he told you wasn’t from lunch Antwan had ordered, and it wasn’t chinese food. It was, supposedly, the mexican food he had the night prior with Mouser. It didn’t help that after looking closely, you noticed the slight tint of pink to Keys face. As he lied
“You’re a fucking liar! If you’re going to lie to my face..at-at least keep the story straight!” You angrily snapped, your voice raising as you got up from the couch.
“I’m not lying baby i-i swear it-“
“Drop it Walter. I know it’s because you were with Millie. She called me almost half an hour ago, asking for legal advice. She..she said friday night you guys were here at your place, and found proof of the stolen codes in Free City.” Within the split second of you snapping and him trying to back up his lie, you lost all emotion. Just straight drained, disappointed. Not angry, not sad, dull. Fully dull.
At the mere mention of his actual name, and not ‘Keys’ or any of the stupid nicknames you had created for him, his face dropped.
“I had to lie! Okay?? I knew you’d flip your shit over me being with Millie.” he seethed, flipping like a switch. From a confused boyfriend, to an angry man.
“I’d flip my shit because you know how I feel about her! About you and her being alone together!”
“Right because now i’m a fucking cheater? Is that it?” His voice echoing through the small apartment.
“That’s not what I mean Walter and you know it“ You gave him a look of utter betrayal. He wasn’t going to spin this on you, putting words in your mouth.
“Stop calling me Walter!!” He seethed, pulling g at his hair.
“Give me a reason to call you anything endearing, go on.” Tears bubbled at your eyes, blurring your vision.
He immediately softened. But you aren’t having it.
“Baby cmon..” He attempted to move closer, but every step he took, you’d take an additional two.
“I can’t even look at you right now.” You began to cry, wiping your eyes as you hurriedly grabbed your bag, slipping your phone in your sweatpants pocket and grabbing your shoes.
Just like that. Keys flipped like a light switch.
“Yea, storm out because you’re an insecure bitch. Real mature!”
The last part was yelled as you slammed the door to his apartment shut. Hurriedly, you had walked to the elevator, then the parking lot where your car had been the last four hours. The thirty minutes blurred together.
You ended up home in bed, sobbing into the nearest pillow as your phone blew up. Keys, most likely. You couldn’t even talk to him, nor think about him without feeling like you couldn’t breathe.
His words replaying in your mind
You loved Keys but…when the subject of insecurity over Millie came up..the man you loved was no where to be found.
The only thought you could remember before passing out from the tiredness and crying, was what the fuck you were going to do about your relationship.
