AU where the entire population of Hong Kong were relocated against their will the the North in the early 2000s. Instead of fighting them, Irish republicans take pity on the new citizens because they see the relocation as an act of colonialism on the part of the British crown. The people of Hong Kong become sympathetic to Irish independence due to their hatred of the British and they now outnumber unionists. The whole plan backfires on the British and Ireland gets the six counties back and due to all the infrastructure put in place for the new city New Hong Kong (Hong Cong Nua) becomes known as both the powerful industrial hub of Ireland as well as a peaceful multiracial cultural hub with a unique fusion of Irish and HongKongese traditions.

Lmao I’m in this group, it’s called “*sighs* the Plastic Paddies are at it again”. It exists to troll those Irish and Proud Facebook pages which are basically just filled with Americans using their heritage as an excuse to be racist and to post cringe boomer memes that say stuff like WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE MY IRISH TEMPER with idk a pic of the l*cky ch*rms leprechaun and a pint of Guinness.  As well as trolling, they post a lot of screenshots of Irish people arguing in these groups with Americans over stuff that the Americans clearly have no clue about but will confidently state that they are more Irish than the Irish are. This is one of my favourite interactions lately:

Imagine having the confidence to insist that you know the correct spelling of a word in a language you don’t speak when a tiny google search and the people that do speak the language tell you you’re wrong. Anyways join the group it’s a good time.
