Ahhhh this guy gets it!
If you don’t feel any need to reblog this unfollow me.
Seriously what the fuck you spent money on those donate to a homeless shelter instead you fucking demons
This is more common than you may think. Many urban areas that have high homeless populations are using “defensive architecture” more and more. Sloped and divided benches to keep the homeless from sleeping on them. Spikes placed in sheltered areas where they tend to stay. City planners argue they are only trying to relocate the homeless, pushing them to see out shelters and homeless centers. But that rings hollow. They just want them out of sight. I don’t have a simple, easy solution. But this isn’t it. Making things harder for the homeless does not help them.
All these corporations have so much money to spend it on putting spikes on places where homeless people sleep yet absolutely NOTHING goes to those who are homeless. This country really doesn’t give a fuck about the well being of homeless people at all
this is heartbreaking fr .
By the way you can remove these spikes with wither a sledgehammer and a heavy metal spike (sharpened crowbar with a downwards slant and the handle removed or something similar) or a concrete saw if you’ve got one of those. It’s illegal to do but it also only takes about an hour if there aren’t too many spikes.
Alternatively, if you put a mattress over them they become useless, although you do risk having the city take the mattress. Normally they don’t reinstall the spikes if you keep removing them.
As for the benches, a concrete or hand held circular saw can cut off the arm rests of the benches with too many arm rests to sleep on. Just remember: Wear protective goggles and practice proper safety if using power tools. All of this stuff can be bought at Home Depot or your local variant of Home Depot.
For legal purposes I have to advise you that this is illegal and I’m not advising you to do this.
remember: they can’t catch you if you’re faster than they are!
Also!! If you wear a hard hat- orange construction vest and carry a clipboard people are more likely to believe your legit and not call the cops on you
America hates the homeless so much they purposely install benches that are basically useless to the people they’re intended for i.e. disabled and elderly people (not that it gives a shit about them either)
What the actual fuck

I love Northanger Abbey so much?? The main character, Catherine, and her love interest, Henry, are both so unique and lovely and suit each other so well
Catherine is so truly sweet and guileless without ever being annoying or without personality. She’s never been anywhere except her home before and she’s doesn’t understand how people can be, and is easily deceived at first, but she’s never deceived twice in the same way. She has a real backbone and conviction when she believes herself right, and she’s stands up to even those closest to her when she needs to. I can see why it’s sometimes described as a coming of age novel, it’s such a pleasure to see her grow in her understanding of the world and herself through the course of the novel.
She’s also obsessed with gothic horror literature
And Henry is SO good??? He’s so funny and silly but also so thoughtful and gives her such good advice, and not in an annoying or paternalistic way
Also at one point she thinks his father is a murderer??? (This book is so fucking funny) and he like very seriously and calmly shows her that she’s being insane and she’s sooooo embarrassed, and afterwards is so afraid to see him at dinner in case he’s angry or disgusted with her, but instead he just pays her extra quiet attention bc he knows she’s so in need of comfort in that moment
And there’s multiple parts where he like helps her understand her own feelings by gently but funnily asking about them and at one point he says that someone with feelings as completely representing the best of human nature should be made aware of them :((
He also tells her this horror story with herself as the heroine and she’s so enraptured it’s so sweet
All of this
Y/N: *Is sad after having a bad day*
Loki: *Taking their face in his hands and tilting Y/N’s head upwards* It’s okay to be sad or angry or upset, it doesn’t make you any less worthy.
Y/N: … Loki.
Loki: You must keep your head high my darling, your crown is falling.
Oh damn
I needed this!
Andrew Lloyd Webber is such a force of chaos and I love that for him
Losing my mind over this comment. the randomness, the fanciful imagery, the lack of meaningful context. 10/10 great job tumblr
andrew lloyd webber aka the creator of Phantom of the opera and Cats, but more importantly the man responsible for the Sexy Thomas the Tank Engine musical adaption
The sexy?? Thomas the tank engine?? musical adaptation?? WHAT??
oh yes I am delighted to introduce you to the spectacle on roller skates known as the STARLIGHT EXPRESS!
it’s the 9th longest running theatre show in West End history and, for some reason, the most successful musical in Germany?
the first song Webber wrote (ultimately removed from the final production) was called ENGINE OF LOVE. It was originally written for an American soul singer who could sing three notes simultaneously in the style of a steam whistle.
yeah. absolute banger
I have never seen Starlight Express, but this twitter thread has me curious.
“I have become God; God gets to write a musical where everyone is on roller skates”
Oh wow, I can actually add on to this:
As mentioned earlier, Starlight Express is the most successful musical in Germany. Well, it truly is! When my dad was younger, he listened to the record of the soundtrack that he somehow had (records were hard to get here back then), and absolutely loved the music. So, naturally, when I was about 12 (?) he took our entire family to see the musical.
The only musical we had seen before was “Tarzan” (I mean, we knew the movie already, so understanding the story wasn’t hard), and when we went to see “Starlight Express”, everyone except my dad had absolutely no idea what it was about. Ve vaguely knew it was something weird about trains on rollerskates, but that was about it.
The entire musical basically takes place inside a giant skatepark - there are various ways for the actors to skate around the whole room, between viewers, up some walls, it’s crazy. We had rather cheap places, so we didn’t sit down there, where we could see the actors skating besides us - we sat all the way up there, at the top, above even the light show. This meant, we overlooked everything, but were too far away to actually understand a word.
The music was fantastic, (as the twitter-post mentioned, everyone only remembers that one song, I can confirm this) and the performance was a wild ride - if you have never seen it, the choreography takes place around the entire room, and is supported by an insane lightshow - but, to this day, I did not know the story. I knew the kid played with the trains, dreamed of a race, and there was this god - train… But, honestly, the details? No story, just vibes.
holy shit. germany built an entire indoor racetrack for this
this has been a permanent installation since the 80s i am losing what little remains of my mind
anyway we should rip the Transformers franchise out of michael bay’s grimy little paws and hand it over to Andrew Lloyd Webber just to see what the fork he’d do with it
I went to see this and my mum said afterwards “do you think that when Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber stopped working together, Tim said to Andrew, ‘you know what would be great? A musical of The Little Engine That Could,’ just to mess with him?”
Also can confirm the danger, the show had to be stopped after an actor fell. Everyone cheered when they came back on stage but they didn’t look in great shape. 😬
This is my new favourite post
