eventually you realize you don’t want to die. you just don’t want to live the life you’re living. and slowly you try to create a life you want to live. just gotta start there.
no one needs to add “sounds fake but ok”, “no”, “well, not me”, “impossible”, etc. to this post. and i’d rather you not.
one day you think: I want to die.
and then you think, very quietly: actually. actually. I think I want a coffee. a nap. a sandwich. a book.
and I want to die turns day by day into I want to go home, I want to walk in the woods, I want to see my friend, I want to sit in the sun
I want a cleaner kitchen
I want a better job
I want to live somewhere else
I want to live
it’s hard to hang on to the good things in life when mental illness is hitting hard, but there truly are so many good things for you to experience and discover. romanticising these little things make the bad seem less overwhelming and all-consuming. there will always be cookies to bake. flowers to pick. dogs to pet. hot showers. new books and movies and games to experience. people to meet, and hands to hold, and lips to kiss. there is more than your brain is convincing you of, and these good things are far more permanent than the bad. bad days will come and go, but you will always have good, sweet things.
not every day is going to go well. some days will be hard, some days will be sad, some days you will have a pit in your stomach and not know where it’s come from. that is ok. all our emotions ask is that we feel them. acknowledge them. let them be. find ways to take care of yourself in the meantime. tomorrow will likely be brighter. better days are coming.

it can be tempting to live your life like a prequel. to live as if you’re setting up your own story.and once you lose the weight, once you have the money, once you graduate school, once you’re in a real relationship, once, once, once. then finally, you’ll begin to live, and everything you do up until that point is some kind of half-life, some unimportant foreword you can skip. don’t do this. inhabit your life completely. sink fully into the wealth of your existence. the power to manifest is in the fearless owning of who you are, so that you can shape where you’re going.
i hope you know that you deserve a place in this world. that there will always be someone who’s life will be made better by you existing in it
ya……… these two have gotten me through everything & continues to do so

25% is better than 0%. trying a little is better than not trying at all. eating a protein bar is better than nothing. using dry shampoo is better than not showering. cleaning one section of your room or house is better than not cleaning any of it. writing a paragraph of your essay is better than not starting it. whatever you can manage today is okay. you can try again tomorrow. little steps are to be proud of.
“One day you will heal in such a way that you’d be so glad you chose to stay. Every morning you’ll wake up with the feeling that something good is about to happen to you each and every day. The light coming from the sun won’t be too bright for your once too tired eyes, and the taste of your coffee will remind you that you’re kind of like magic. You’ll learn how to appreciate the simple things in life, like dancing in the kitchen, singing along to a happy song, and loving all the people who inspire you to be strong. You’ll smile at all your mistakes and failures in the past and forgive yourself for the choices you made, especially the ones that are wrong. One day you will heal in such a way that you’d be so glad you chose to stay. Because things will feel simpler and the problems you’ll be facing will be much gentler from all the pain you experienced that made you stronger. You’ll see hope in days when the sun refuses to shine, and you’ll feel comfortable in the wisdom that bad days do pass, and all you have to do when you’re stuck in the middle of the storm is to keep breathing and trust that things will eventually get better. You will get better.”
— Juansen Ryne Dizon, You Will Get Better
