There’s so many things that feel inherent to the human condition that aren’t actually and just feel that way because of the societies we live in which is kinda crazy tbh.
People used to just throw banana peels on the ground for real. It was a real problem in society.
That cartoon trope is like cultural memory from a time when people just threw their trash on the ground and didn’t even think about it. Littering has become a lot less socially acceptable in the last seventy years or so.
And it’s like we assume that humans inherently like living in a clean environment or whatever but like. No. The banana peels.
There’s things that we think we could never adapt to or put up with that to a lot of people are just a part of everyday life.
Reusable takeout containers that you return to the restaurant for example. Very common in some parts of Asia. Unthinkable concept in the states.
Just a few years ago reusable grocery bags seemed like a huge annoyance but now I use them without thought.
Or even like how every fuckass nowhere town in the US used to have access to a railroad and now the idea of using passenger rail for a lot of people is ridiculous because even some major regional hubs don’t have trains.
People used to wear corsets for gods sake and now that’s a super niche thing to do on a daily basis. Even my grandmother wore corsets in the 1950s.
Like a huge part of how society works can change in like three years while everyone barely notices. It’s crazy.
it still makes me go insane that somehow no social media site bothers to implement interleaved text and images. Fediverse cannot support it broadly, Bluesky can't handle it, Facebook can't do it, Twitter can't do it, fucking, LinkedIn doesn't do this, somehow only Tumblr has this, and it barely even counts as a popular social media site.
well you see we're the new pdf
Like a month ago I messaged a craft group about accessibility for wheelchairs and the answer I got was “there’s a lot of stairs but we have cute boys who can carry you”. And it’s…not good. As a wheelchair bound person I largely depend on people when I want to go out and do *anything* so I’m used to it, I laugh it off, make an annoyed post about it and off I go. But I wanna just say a thing real quick.
Even if I wasn’t gay, wasn’t a survivor scared of men, getting help as a disabled person is just…Not a pleasant thing to us! Imagine for a sec how you’d feel being carried up a flight of stairs. You’re a grown person. You’re being touched in an awkward way. You’d rather do it yourself. You’re So Uncomfortable. It’s not where I look for the beginning of a romantic relationship. So like…could abled people stop doing this thing where they think helping us in a condescending and infantilizing way is cute? Cause I’m real tired. Just get me a ramp or lift and I’m cool. I don’t need a dating service when I’m just trying to go about my day
cant get my nether portal to light has anyone else had this problem

most true and real minecraft update ever i dont need new weapons i dont need new blocks i need little fucking guys
actually it's very implied that most ores in minecraft have magical properties. lapis is the most obvious, considering it's used in the enchanting table, and is necessary for enchanting items. but diamonds are too, because you need them to craft an enchanting table in the first place.
and then there's gold — gold is the most enchantable ore in the game. it is a game mechanic that gold tools enchant better than other tools. every enchantable item has an enchantability level — and gold is by far the highest, at 22 for tools and 25 for armor.
there's a lot of interesting stuff about enchantability that implies quite a bit about magic though! maces, leather and wood have an enchantability of 15, which is higher than all the ores, EXCEPT for netherite which also has an enchantability of 15 (which implies that netherite scraps/debris lower the enchantability of the gold in the combination). iron has 14, 9 for armor, copper has 13, 8 for armor, chainmail has 12, diamond has 10 for both — which is the lowest out of all the ores! then turtle shell comes in at 9, stone at 5, and the rest enchantable items (book, trident, crossbow, bow and fishing rod) are all at 1 (which implies a lot of stuff about wood and how less of it + combined with other stuff lowers the enchantability — which is also something implied with gold in netherite).
but! despite that, most ores (exceptions of redstone, coal, and lapis) can be used to power beacons in block form, and activate them in item form. beacons in general are also really interesting because of the requirement of obsidian + nether star to craft them (and the everything that goes into withers).
and of course there's redstone. redstone is its entire own thing that can be used to activate and deactivate things with power lines and various other components. i don't really know much about redstone so i can't really speak about it much, i just know "you activate it and it does things". it's like minecraft electricity/computing/engineering to me. it's also dark magic to me. i don't understand it.
quartz is interesting though, becuse there's not really much magical about it other than the absurds amounts of experience you can get from mining it (saved my mending tools quite a few times...). there's still something about it that really interests me though.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YOU GET ME
cannot begin to describe how much i LOVE when people GET ME about this art piece. the hotbar is fulham's. not a top runner, sure, but still a known runner in the community and the analyst for ranked playoffs. he definently knows what he's doing. he has experience like any other runner and like everyone else he's just there to do one thing: Kill the dragon. there is no animal in sight, there is no threatening beast in sight, there's only a goal of complete the run and the only threat is losing it.
(and @skallyeen because i am also showing ur tags off but not reblogging from ur reblog)
I REALLY LOVE WHEN PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS PIECE. the hitboxes, the hotbar- the fact there's no armor, not a single food piece in the hotbar, the pearls, the what looks like random assortments of items to anyone not well-versed in speedrunning, the one single bed in the hotbar because the rest are in the inventory because you can pick block them — i LOOOVE when people notice this and point it out and word it in their own ways and point out that This is more than an experienced player, it's a speedrunner. yesss yes yes yes yessss yessss yesss
YES!!!!!! THATS WHAT IM SAYING!!! what if you were forced to see your own death time and again and see your last remaining child be orphaned and left unhatched time and time and time and time again. it's an unbreakable cycle. you can do nothing but either refuse the zero cycle rng or the perch rng, but even that won't last forever, because you have to perch at some point. you can't stop it. you can't end it. the cycle only ends when there is nobody left to play the game
( @nullcasting @'ing you because i like collecting all the very long rambly tags i enjoy in one reblog chain) yessss yes syessss. exactly. imagine someone knowing you better than you know yourself. where to hit you to hurt you the most. the player can see the hitbox and uses it to their advantage every time. jean, the dragon, nothing but a target to kill, a means to an end. there is no mercy to be had, without the dragon dead the timer won't stop ticking.
( @outofblocks) yesssss you understand. youi understand so much. exactly the point of this
exactly!!!! there's no exp in the exp bar because prior to entering the end they hunger reset. they know what to do to not waste time when they need their health and hunger back so they don't die in the end
It's 3am but I am LOCKED IN to these minecraft art pieces. I love love when there's so much detail and symbolism that everyone can share in and find something new to discuss. The amount you think about this game shines through in a very good way. I really want to be able to create something as intricately crafted with passion as this!!
maybe i am scared
