Hey Dahni! Of course! I haven't had any requests for a week now so I'm super happy now :D
From the moment she was born, everyone was fascinated by how clever Dahni was. At age 2, she could speak three languages. By the time she was 3, she was reading full-length novels. Eventually, news of her genius spread and eventually reached the Madrigals. On her 5th birthday, after she had finished making a set of blueprints for an observatory, the candle began to burn intensely bright. Abuela Alma was baffled as she watched as Casitas tiles laid a path to...Dahni’s house? Abuela talked to Dahni parents, watching as Danhi invented a new chemical solution that could turn glass into water. After seeing how incredible Dahni was, she declared to the people of Encanto that she officially had a gift.
When Camilo found out that some random tutors kid had a gift, he wasn’t too impressed. It was absolutely ridiculously completely unfair, that he, a Madrigal who was 4 and 10 months did not have a gift, and that she, a random girl who could predict weather patterns and fix clocks, did. He told that exact phrase to everyone daily, ranting about public enemy number one: Dahni. He truly despised her. Eventually, Dahni got wind of this. While disappointed, she devised a plan:
Step 1: Find out everything that Camilo Madrigal likes
Step 2: Do everything on that list
Step 3: If that doesn’t work, follow his behavioral patterns to make him some how like her. Or trap him somewhere and have him need to be saved.
Turns out that steps 1 and 2 were enough. Camilo was simple: he liked chameleons and cookies and could be won over with either. Imagine his excitement when he found out that someone had left a whole basket of chameleon cookies at the end of his bed. Imagine his disappointment when he found out that they were from Dahni. But when he ate one (ok maybe it was more than one), he immediately forgave her for doing nothing wrong and decided to be her friend. To tell Dahni that he would very much like to be her friend, he asked his cousin Isabela to grow him a daisy to take down to Dahni’s house. ‘Dahni’ and ‘Daisy’ sounded similar enough to him. He didn’t know what a dahlia was at this point. (He still doesn’t today). He marched over to her house and gave her the daisy as a peace offering. She gladly accepted it, happy to have finally won him over.
As they grew older together, daisies became a common occurrence throughout their friendship. Someone wanted to say sorry? A daisy at the door. Someone wanted to give the other a small gift? A nice bundle of daises should do the trick. When Camilo got his gift, the first thing that he did was turn into Dahni and see if he could recite the Greek alphabet. He was mildly disappointed that he only got her looks and not her brain. As the years went on, the Madrigals became aware that Camilo spent a lot of time with Dahni outside of Casita. They never saw her much. She was quiet, preferring pages to people and chemicals to conversation. But she was always the mastermind of Camilo's ridiculous pranks. Dahni was a master of predictions, memorizing people's patterns and behavior. She could figure out on a scale of 1 to 10 how badly people would react to Camilo's antics and how much trouble he’d be in if he got caught. But together, Camilo had only ended up getting caught 3 times. Once when he hadn’t mastered his gift yet, once when it was part of their plan, and once when he didn’t follow what Dahni said.
He learned to never question her judgment from then on.
