About the races

𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀: They have become the superior race over the magicals of the land. They found a way to harness new technology to overpower the mightiest of beings. How? Not without some bias, of course! Magicals are deemed lesser. If not careful, killed on the spot. However, humans also use magic for their own gain. 𝗘𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀: A noble race. Now they are tagged and registered at birth like all the other magicals. Some are taken back to the human city where are used for entertainment or fashion statements. Some clip their ears than rather be caught. How did a race of elegance and beauty fall so far? 𝗙𝗮𝗲: Much like the elves, they too are captured and used for the human's entertainment. Their wings are highly desired on the black market. The dust that coats the wings provide a special kind of magic, but what it does depends on the fairy it came from.

𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗳𝘀: Even though they are closely related to humans, their strength and endurance make them perfect for human greed. They enslave the dwarfs to mine the nearby mountains for any precious metals they can dig up.

𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀: Once a gentle race, now live the same fate as the dwarfs. They are captured and taken by the humans (most likely at birth) to haul the heavy machinery and work loads. The dwarfs and giants make for great friendships due to a common lifestyle.

𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗱𝘀: They are the most neutral of all the races even though they have every reason to wage war against the humans. The mermaids are highly sought after for their tails; for both scales and meat. Mermaid meat is a delicacy that only the richest can afford. Mermaids often lure sailors to their deaths.

𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀: This race is damned and cursed. They came from a group of black mages that wanted more. More power, longer lives. Blood magic was created by these black mages, turning them into red mages. Blood magic comes with a cost. They're cursed and so are their offspring - forever dependent on blood to live. Think vampire, but magical.

Eian Rose 

Race: Leech

Class: Red Mage

Born into a pure blood coven, Eian was sheltered and his future had already been decided for him by his controlling parents. They had paired him off in an arranged marriage at a young age to ensure their Leech blood line would remain pure. Eian had no interest in the opposite gender and knew the only way he could escape this fate was running away. He left home before he was an adult, not actually knowing much about life outside of his coven. He’s survived for a while in the woods by killing any creatures he found alone. One day he made a sloppy mistake a draining the blood of a Druid Wolf, not realizing he wasn’t completely alone, and angered his entire pack. Although he hates humans, Eian eventually realizes he must leave the forest and try to blend in the city if he wants to avoid behind hunted down for his crime.

Mark Lyon

Mark was born with a fighting spirit, but a kind heart, a rare combination. He was poised to take his fathers footsteps, the owner of the biggest land development company in the city.  As a tween he had been visiting one of his fathers construction sites, he befriended a fae girl and was horrified to learn that her had been displaced, the land stolen from them. This left a lasting impression on him. He refused to take after his father and now he works underground, finding those with magic who are hiding under the radar and tries to teach them how to assimilate into the human realm without being detected. He shows them how to act, how to talk, how to dress, and even helps to clip their ears or other things to modify their appearance. It’s not ideal, but for now it’s the only way to keep them safe.

Mercury (Max Valris)

Race: elf/human hybrid

Class: Rogue

Mercury already knew they weren’t good enough for this world the moment they were born into a druid family- particularly ones that didn’t have the best animals. With a father and mother who were both worker horses, they worked long hours in the fields for the humans until one day they couldn’t work anymore and therefore were put down. Mercury, now alone and without the druid class, had to learn to fend for themselves. They made a little house off the outskirts of the city. Being a rogue they can easily sneak in and out of the areas, stealing whatever they need to survive- and then more. They sell these off in their little stall for a good price. If you want something in particular stolen...Or “borrowed” Mercury is the person to come to.

Marlie Amberback

Marlie had always wanted more in life than what she was born into.  With pure dwarven blood running through her veins she was nothing more than a labor worker, helping to build the heavy machinery within the cities. Her mother had worked, her father had worked and so did her brothers... But she dreamed of more. More power, more money, and more recognition for her bright mind. Within her free time, she had been working on her own inventions, taking her time to read the blueprints of the humans and replicating the technology. Now, with a small black market business going, she sells off these replicated weapons to anyone who’s willing to pay a pretty penny, adapting them to suit the buyer. She knew she deserved more, so she made it herself. Will the humans find out about her black market? Or will one of her weapons fall into the wrong hands?

Luas Jinam

Luas doesn’t believe in much in life, but he does believe in doing what is right. As a Giant, he knew he would always be used for labour- however he never saw how his strength and charisma would get him ahead in the game, he soared past basic labour work and quickly became one of the lower ranking in the military. His job is simple:make sure those of magical blood remain in their places, kill lower classes on site and stop any kind of uprising. But, it’s hard when he’s fighting his own kind. Part of him wants to walk away, return back to basic labour...But another part of him knows this is the best chance he has of a normal life. Choices are hard when they include throwing away your own individuality.

Clementine 

Race: Mermaid

Clementine is at home in the water. She uses her skills and stealth to steal from cargo ships and passenger ships, selling the goods for the highest price later. She had lured many men to their deaths, quickly drowning them before taking their goods. She is careful with her targets though, and won’t kill someone just for fun. These men (or women) are usually the worst of the worst, seeking out the comfort of the creatures they claim to despise. She is feisty and calculating. And while she does steal, her money usually goes to help those in need and rarely for herself.

Veri is a pacifist at heart. They live deep in the forest with a family of deer and spend their days picking berries and taking care of any injured animals. They don’t concern themselves with the kingdom around them, and don’t pay much mind to what other races are up to. They have never once encountered a human and, while they don’t think they would be that terrible, they would rather stay by themselves.

Gilderoy Dauterive

Gilderoy is a classic rags to riches story. He was born into an easy, but poor life. His family were mostly farmers and when a group of other races came through town and slaughtered his family he vowed revenge. His is delightfully charismatic and can come off as kind, though his tone is always condescending. He is not fond of other races and is very much in the humans are superior category. He follows the Dark Ones, ancient gods of terror and darkness.

Eldrin Loralen

Eldrin comes from a long line of elven fighters. Their parents left them the responsibility of creating a resistance against the humans. Eldrin is the captain of the guard. They try to recruit to the army, but a lot of magicals are scared of the humans. Risking it didn’t seem reasonable to most. Eldrin still has a long road ahead of them to fight the suppression and destroy the age of men. Eldrin thinks if they could get Gyda to join, others will follow if a dragon druid is fighting, but Gyda is hard to find let alone talk to.

Adelina Whitewhisper

Adelina got it easy in life for a magical being. She’s a water fae who lives in the human capital- her beauty got her picked up by a modelling agency where she now works; setting the beauty standards for the humans throughout the city. The pay isn’t as good as a human model, but it’s enough to give her a good enough  life. Her magic comes in handy for changing the appearance of her hair and eyes in seconds, and her water magic mixed with the darkness she can produce looks beautiful in photos. She has left behind her magical beings- why should she help when she has it so good? Little does she know- her black mage class has her skating on very, very thin ice. One wrong move and she will lose it all.

Gyda Fafnaer

Gyda was born to two elves, a druid mother and a fighter father. Her mother was a fox aspect, however, Gyda was a dragon. The little family of three lived within the thick forests as it provided cover from those that wished to do them harm. Afraid of the humans and their greed for dragon scales, Gyda’s mother hid her. They were never tagged. Gyda’s mother would clip Gyda’s ears to pass her off as a human child. It worked. Gyda now lives in solace in the forest, clipping her own ears and practicing the nature magic of druidism. Their home is overgrown with plants and always has fresh fruit and vegetables.

Peony is a little flower fae who lives in the human’s capital. The humans allow her to live as long as Peony provides the pleasures they want. She is a dancer at one of the clubs in the city. Her beauty entices the humans; making it hard to look away. They tip just enough to provide a low living for Peony. Even though her life isn’t filled with riches, she is still humble and the sweetest fae - especially when compared to her kin. The most magic known to her is for show lighting magic. Sparkles, light beams, and other uses of light.

Our story...

For centuries the humans have been at war with the magicals, and greatly losing. It wasn’t until technology caught up and surpassed the magical abilities of the various races of Nevera. Now with modern and futuristic technology, humans are able to create and put the law of the land in place. Every magical being, when born, are tagged and registered. They are given a chip deep in their forearm that their scanners are able to detect. Failure to get chipped is punishable by death. 

 There are various races and classes ranging from human fighters to elf druids to dwarf leeches. Each race ranks differently on the social status the humans have put into place.

 The elves and fae are used for vanity and entertainment - they provide dances, music, and beauty standards. While the humans detest the magicals, they still find the elves and fae superficially desirable.

 The shapeshifters and leeches are the outcasts. They are deemed terrifying and kill on sight. They also can’t stand each other.

 The dwarfs and giants are used for their brute strength as labour workers. They do the dirty physical labour that the humans deemed low. 

The mermaids remain neutral to the war between humans and magicals even though the humans hunt them for the flesh of their tails and scales. Half-breeds are dealt with on a case to case basis. The scales provide the humans a bit of magic. What is the human race without some biased laws? If the leaders saw a need for magic, they took advantage of it. 

They mainly used magic to make sure their city was impenetrable. They provided their armies with magical weapons that paired with their technology. The magic also helps medically. Humans live longer. They can have children when previously they couldn’t. Sickness is easily eradicated.

 Will the magicals put aside their differences and come together to reclaim the land from the humans, or will the humans remain superior?
