A voice to his left shook the absurd thought away. “He is the Emrys, the son of our First Lord, Arthur of Camelot.”

No, what made him different was the fact that his mark moved.
Everyone knew two things. One: that a moving mark meant that the person’s soulmate was a Druidic merperson. And two: that Camelot had been at war with the druids for almost 30 years. For the king’s son to be destined to fall in love with their greatest enemy was unthinkable.
Or: Merlin and Arthur are both Mermen who are each other’s soulmates. However, because Arthur’s soul mark indicates his soulmate has magic he is expected to kill his soulmate on sight

Arthur barely makes it to Merlin’s Inn after a car accident during a snowstorm. With no spare rooms, Merlin is forced to share his own bed with a shivering Arthur. He’s not exactly upset about it, though, and neither is Arthur. There’s a little awkwardness, a lot of cuddling, a power outage, a sad phone call, and some eventual talking about actual, real feelings. Plus a few sexy times. (Fade to black, so SFW… but definitely rated higher than teen)
