Poor headless teddy...
It’s a long one but absolutely worth watching!
Books should be accessible, but that doesn’t mean leaving them to be damaged. Sometimes proper storage is all that is needed.
This lamp stand wasn’t bringing joy anymore, but with a little help from Endangered Heritage, it was once again bringing light to the world.
Contrary to popular belief it doesn’t all come out in the wash, but sometimes it does...
Daddy’s at the food store, Mummy’s out of town,
She’s working at the hospital since Rhona came to town,
Hide away, hide away, Miss Rhona’s come to town,
Hide away, hide away, she’s come to take us down.
Miss Rona’s at the doorstep, I’ll keep 6 feet away,
But Grandma needs the paper, I’ll take her some today,
Hide away, hide away, Miss Rhona’s come to stay,
Hide away, hide away, I’ll keep 6 feet away.
But Grandma needs the paper, I’ll take her some today,
And here’s a note from Rhona, she wanted me to say,
Hide away, hide away, keep 6 feet away,
Hide away, hide away, she’s brought us down today.
Who else is feeling morbid today?
This is perfect. Morbid as hell, and perfect.
@mephestopheles Spindle needs one of these
Duck, duck, goose. No wait that is a duck, not a goose.
Like the local hospital called us going “Listen I know y’all use N95 respirators and masks out there do y’all have any extra please we’re begging”
I sent them to the lady who orders and stocks those in our HSE department who said “Yeah we’re on reduced staff we can probably rustle up 30 or so, the ones with the washable filters so you can re-use them” and the doctor was like “Oh thank god was I not married I would propose this instant.”
Anyway if folks could stop hoarding N95 masks that’d be swell.
Many museums have PPE, if your (or your local) institute is closed talk to them about donating their stock.

FREE EBOOKS???
In this time that social distancing and limiting physical contact with others, maybe this is a solution? A fabric and rubber diving suit which had seen better days when it arrived, ready to go back into service... at least to keep people away from you...
What’s in the box, in the box. What’s in the box today? Looking, creeping, what do you say. Let’s look in the box today.
I swear this is work! And science-based at that.
Historians on COVID-19
So there is no conversation other than Covid 19.. so here is what we historians know which has now been backed up by science... Cotton has a large amount of available hydrogen bonding sites. Steel and glass do not. A virus stays on cotton and paper surfaces 20min and on hard surfaces 6-8 hours. In the past people wore gloves. and women especially wore gloves out of the home, to keep infection out of the home.
Soap also has a fatty acid, which breaks virus bonds. Better than sanitiser or detergent so add some soap to your USUAL cleaning products. Washing hands with soap is absolutely necessary as soon as you come into the home.
Having hand creams and moisturisers nearby is also helpful to make sure the skin is not cracked and chapped with infection entry points.
Leave shoes outside and don't walk extra germs into the home. (Sick people sadly do spit on the ground)
UV kills germs. while we have wonderful autumm days with warm sun get the doona's and pillows outside to sanitise them. During the 1918 influenza virus field hospitals in tents proved that fresh air and sunshine not only increased recovery rate, reduced transmission and spread up the recovery of individuals.
Lemon drinks and honey are also a good immune booster without waiting for illness.
Tie hair back and it reduces the times you touch your face, keep hair styles out of eyes and face. particularly for kids.
We are in the Southern Hemisphere and heading into the colder months, consider planting spinach seeds and other winter vegetables NOW to get fresh veggies in 6 weeks. Northern Hemisphere friends you have a wider option of vegetables to grow but look at the ones with high Vitamin C to keep your immune systems ticking along.
