Ok so I was rewatching Yuki Yuna is a Hero (peak btw) and then of COURSE my brain somehow circled back to Twisted Wonderland because apparently I can’t think about one fandom without dragging another one into it. So what if there was a Twisted Wonderland x Yuki Yuna is a Hero AU?
The cast would be:
* Ace → Yuna Yuki
* Yuu → Mimori Togo
* Idia → Fu Inubouzaki
* Ortho → Itsuki Inubouzaki
* Sebek → Miyoshi Karin
Now here’s the fun part.
We already know the Magic Mirror in the courtyard is connected to other worlds. So what if after Malleus’ overblot, some leftover blot residue or weird magical anomaly started messing with the mirror? Nobody notices anything at first because…it’s Crowley’s school. Weird things happen every other Tuesday.
Ace and Yuu are arguing in front of the mirror like always. Sebek is nearby yelling at them to stop making such an embarrassing racket in front of the school. Idia and Ortho just happen to be passing through and ortho drags Idia over to check out what theyre doing.
Then all of a sudden…
The Mirror of Darkness starts glowing. Before any of them can react, it starts pulling them in.
Ace grabs onto Yuu, Sebek tries planting his feet into the ground while yelling, Ortho immediately reaches for Idia, and the five of them just get completely sucked into the mirror before anyone else even knows what has happened. They’re just…gone.
⸻
The thing is, the world they end up in isn’t Twisted Wonderland anymore.
It’s the world protected by Shinju-sama.
The Divine Tree immediately realizes that these five don’t belong there. They’re from another world entirely, and more importantly…they physically can’t become Heroes.
The Hero System was made specifically for certain middle school girls. So Shinju-sama does the only thing it can. It rewrites them.
Not just appearances.
Everything.
Their biology changes so they can synchronize with the Hero System. Their bodies become those of middle school girls. Their voices change. Even their memories are rewritten. The only thing that remains the same is their names.
They all believe that this has always been their lives. They don’t remember Night Raven College. They don’t remember magic. They don’t remember Twisted Wonderland.
As far as they’re concerned, they’ve lived in Sanshu their entire lives. The Hero Club has always existed. The Hero App has always been on their phones. Fighting the Vertexes is just part of their daily routine.
To them…This has always been reality.
Meanwhile back at NRC…
The first years are the first ones to notice something’s wrong. Deuce wakes up expecting Ace to already be awake making noise or trying to drag him into some dumb idea. Nothing. No Ace. Grim can’t find Yuu anywhere. Jack mentions he hasn’t seen Ace or Yuu all morning.
Epel says Sebek never showed up either. Diasomnia realizes Sebek didn’t return last night.
Then someone points out…
“…Has anyone seen Ortho?”
Silence.
“…Wait.”
“…Where’s Idia?”
Now everyone starts panicking.
A housewarden meeting gets called almost immediately.
Missing students:
*Ace Trappola
* Yuu
* Sebek Zigvolt
* Idia Shroud
* Ortho Shroud
Naturally everyone immediately blames Crowley.
“What did you DO this time?”
For once… Crowley genuinely has no idea. He didn’t summon anyone. He didn’t assign any strange tasks. He didn’t accidentally activate an ancient artifact. He has absolutely no explanation.
Azul immediately starts saying he’ll find them for a price. Vil doesn’t seem particularly concerned at first. Leona just says they’re probably causing trouble somewhere. Only one that seems genuinely concerned is Kalim, Riddle, and Malleus.
But then…The first years don’t calm down At all.
Jack spends half the night pacing because something feels wrong. Deuce can’t sit still. Grim starts snapping at everyone because Yuu wouldn’t just disappear without him. Silver points out Sebek has never once skipped his duties.
Even Leona eventually stops brushing it off. Because this isn’t normal. Not even by NRC standards.
Since Idia is missing, nobody can ask him to hack into the security system.
So they end up checking the mirror room surveillance manually. And they actually find something. Everyone watches the recording.
Ace and Yuu are arguing, Sebek is yelling at them for causing a ruckus in front of the mirror, Idia and Ortho are walking towards them.
Then… The Mirror of Darkness explodes with light. then they watch as it drags all of them into the mirror. The footage ends with absolutely nobody left standing there. The room goes completely silent. No one knows what they just watched.
Then…The mirror activates again. And before anyone can react…Every single person in the room gets transported somewhere else.
They all appear in a room like a theater. Rows of seats, a massive screen and no exits. No matter what magic they use, nothing works. Then the screen lights up and the Mirror of Darkness has decided to show them where their missing classmates ended up.
At first everyone is just confused. Who are these girls? Why do they look so familiar? Then theyre like wait? They looks exactly like our friends..? BUT GIRLS???
One by one…
It finally clicks.
Those girls…
ARE their missing classmates.
They’ve been completely rewritten.
And now all NRC can do…
Is sit there and watch.
⸻
The worst part isn’t even watching them become magical girls. It’s everything that comes after. The theater has to watch them laugh and bond while having absolutely no memory of the people desperately searching for them. They watch them throw themselves into impossible, brutal fights against the Vertexes, smiling like everything is okay.
Then, they slowly learn what the Hero System actually costs.
Then, Mankai happens. One sacrifice. Then another. And another.
The NRC cast has no way to warn them, no way to stop it, and no way to save them. They are forced to watch Ace (Yuna) keep smiling no matter how much the Hero System physically strips away from him.
They watch Yuu (Togo) discover the horrific reality of their world and nearly destroy the Divine Tree out of despair. They watch Idia (Fu) realize what he dragged his friends into and completely break down. They watch Ortho (Itsuki) discover a passion for singing, only to have his voice stolen away. They watch Sebek's (Karin's) unwavering loyalty to the Shinju-sama violently waver.
Imagine the absolute despair in the theater, especially from Diasomnia-watching Sebek
Mankai multiple times, losing function of his body piece by piece. By the time Yuna falls into a coma at the end of the first season, the viewing room would be in absolute ruins. Unlike the Hero Club, NRC remembers exactly who these people are, and they are terrified their friends won't come back in one piece.
And by the time the final battle happens… imagine diasomnia despair watching Sebek mankai multiple times and lose a body part each time.
When Yuna falls into that coma? The viewing room is probably nothing but crying.
Because unlike the Hero Club… NRC remembers exactly who each of them are and are genuinely terrified their friends won’t come back to them in one piece.
Also the Mirror isn’t just showing another world. It’s essentially forcing them through the story. They have to complete the role assigned to them before the Mirror can bring them home. Since their memories are sealed away, they can’t just refuse because, to them, this is their life.
So Ace is still Ace underneath everything…but because his memories were rewritten, his personality naturally develops into someone much closer to Yuna’s. Same with the others.
Ace still has his instinct to throw himself in front of danger for his friends, but instead of hiding it behind sarcasm and overconfidence, it manifests as Yuna’s cheerful, heartbreaking selflessness. Yuu still analyzes situations before acting, which naturally makes them resemble Togo. Idia is fundamentally altered by his role, but his fiercely protective love for Ortho remains intact, turning him into the overburdened, older-sister figure of Fu. Ortho is still incredibly kind and optimistic. And Sebek still has unwavering loyalty and discipline. They’re not brainwashed into being different people. They’re still them. They’re just people who grew up under completely different circumstances.
From the very first battle, the theater watches a tragedy unfold in real-time. They can’t skip ahead, they can't close their eyes, and they can't leave. Every injury, every sacrifice, and every breakdown is displayed in agonizing detail.
The cruelest part is the contrast. The theater knows Ace usually hates being overly positive and would never be so open with his feelings. They know Sebek’s entire identity revolves around protecting Malleus. They know Ortho isn't meant to be a shy human girl, that Idia would never willingly put himself in the line of fire, and that Yuu would never willingly abandon Grim. Every time these rewritten versions drift further from the boys they remember, the theater just gets quieter and quieter.
By the time the Mirror finally breaks the illusion and restores their memories at the end of the story, the missing five have lived almost two full years believing Sanshu was their reality. They are forced to suddenly mourn the life and bonds of the Hero Club, while the rest of NRC has spent the entire time mourning them.
The emotional fallout when they finally step back through the mirror would be completely devastating.
