( SPOILERS FOR EP 127 )  just thinking about jester without the ability to heal or do significant damage or get them out of there... jester, yet again feeling helpless when her friends are in danger. she’s not the only cleric anymore, sure, and maybe some of them still don’t think she’s the best at healing or saving, but it is kind of her thing? and losing them is absolutely one of her biggest fears, and she’s clearly already overwhelmed so...

ROOMS

Kitchen:

What is the character’s favourite food?: Jester has the biggest sweet tooth. Her favorites are donuts, muffins, cupcakes, cookies. She loves baking, and she really loves visiting new shops and trying new things. If you recommend something to her, she will almost always give it a chance. She’s especially fond of her friends’ homemade cooking.  

Are they good at cooking? How good/bad?: She doesn’t have enough experience to feel like it’s something she’s really good at, but her dishes are usually at least passable, and she’s knowledgeable enough to know when to give up and just order something. She’s definitely more likely to offer to taste test while a friend cooks and do the dishes than offer to cook. She does enjoy the process of baking more, and being artsy she can be counted on for really cute decorated desserts.

Do they leave the dishes out?: Not unless she’s too busy to at the moment. Even then, she’s not going to let things pile up for too long if she can help it.

What kind of food is in their refrigerator?: Lots of different things (including beverages) so that when she has company there’s hopefully something for everyone. It’s no fun when someone is hungry but there’s nothing available they like. She also tries to keep food allergies in mind.

Do they cook, eat out or get take-away/delivered food more?: Probably a pretty even mix. Jester is a busy, sociable bee. She thrives on exploring new places with her friends, but she’s also not opposed to curling up on her couch with take out or throwing on some music and cooking for herself to save money.

Living Room:

How does the character spend weekends?: in canon there isn’t much of a distinction for days of the week, so whatever they happen to be up to at the time. in modern verse, it depends on the weekend. if there are parties going on, jester is likely to attend. she’ll also go to clubs with friends. she’s also perfectly content to hang out at an art gallery or museum or something. and there are of course times where she locks herself in her apartment to paint or watch movies or just chill. because she grew up sheltered and as much as she wants to go out and see as much of the world as she can, it gets pretty overwhelming sometimes.

What do they do with friends?: just exist with them. literally they do everything together in canon. in any universe, it doesn’t matter where they are or what they’re doing, she loves them so much and would do anything for them. visiting the ocean, the mountains, the beach, hiking, movies, bonfires, fireworks, ice skating, painting, listening to and playing music, sitting around her living room wrapped in blankets speaking in hushed tones at three am so she doesn’t get noise complaints... they’ve done a lot together, and she couldn’t be happier. 

What’s their favorite pastime?:  art. be it drawing or painting or admiring someone else’s work. reading. sitting with her toes curled in the sand listening to the ocean. listening to her friends talk. helping others when she can.

Bathroom:

How does the character prepare in the morning?: Brushing her teeth and bathing, maybe styling her hair if she has time. She tries to prepare whatever she needs the night before.

Do they sing in the shower?: Of course she does. 

What kind of hair product/make-up do they use?: Jester has an assortment of cute bows and headbands and scrunchies to accessorize. She mostly sticks to eyeliner for makeup. 

Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?: She only keeps what she uses by the shower. Anything extra, like in case she feels like changing up scents or has friends over who use different products, would be stored in the cabinet.

Bedroom:

How do they sleep? (Position, sleeping habits, bedtime routines):  She either starfishes out or sleeps curled up, there isn’t much in between. If she’s sleeping next to someone she will tend to wrap herself around them or curl closer to them while she’s asleep. How much and the quality of the sleep she gets really depends on where she is and her stress level. I wouldn’t say she has a set bedtime routine, but she does often need to remind herself to wind down and try to relax.

What are their pajamas like?: Cute and comfortable.

What do they dream about usually?: She has an overactive imagination, so her dreams are usually bright and colorful and vivid. Unfortunately, she has an equal share of nightmares which feel all the more realistic. 

How neat/tidy are they?: She really likes the aesthetic of things that are organized by color or size and she loves large open spaces, so she generally tries to keep things neat. She doesn’t particularly mind a mess though? Sometimes when there’s more things around, the space feels more lived in and comfortable. 

How affectionate are they?:  The most affectionate. She’s learned that it can be overwhelming to others and holds herself back unless she knows they’re okay with it, and she tries to remember to ask things like “Can I hug you?” because she wants everyone to feel comfortable and safe. She loves holding hands and light, casual touches like brushing the back of someone’s hand that just reassure both parties that they’re there for each other.

Attic:

What is the character afraid of?: Losing loved ones. Not being able to help. Having responsibilities she’s not sure she’s ready for / capable of.  

How do they deal with bad memories?: She... really doesn’t, honestly, for the most part. 

What is this character’s role in a horror movie?: The person that everyone doesn’t listen to and underestimates probably. The one you wouldn’t expect to be able to fight back but absolutely can and will. 

How do they hide their secrets?:  Behind a careful, practiced mask. She has to be the happy one; wants to be the helpful one. Her own problems and doubts and fears take a backseat.

jester is just. so full of love.

she misses everyone they have to leave behind. she worries about them so much, and is always so relieved when they get to go back and visit. when she gets to see for herself that they are okay. ( well, as okay as one can be given the circumstances / situation, but you know ).

i just keep thinking about her immediately hugging e.ssek and wanting to help him once they’re done with everything, and quietly reassuring a.rtagan that even though he’s not able to do everything they would like he’s still been helpful.

I’ve missed seeing everyone’s creations and headcanons and interactions. I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe.

It’s been over a month since my last post and so much has happened. With the progression in Jester’s storyline, Mia making a return this year in RE Village, and whatever is happening with the todofam ( I am not fully caught up ), there’s so much potential for interesting threads, and I hope to explore and write with more of you this year.

Also, I’d like to thank Coslyn @withpromise​ for sending me the most adorable letter and little Jester. I’m incredibly thankful for our little existence together all these years. ♥

( spoilers for ep 118 )  j.ester feeling incredibly scared and pretty insecure after losing years to the statues; f.jord talking to her, telling her that he is scared of losing her and asking for consent before pulling her in for a kiss... she doesn’t need him to protect her all the time and i think they both know that. this was about comfort and honesty and finally starting to figure their relationship out together rather than continuously dancing around what could be.  i’m so happy they were able to have that moment.

I want to touch on each of Jester’s relationships within the group, because each of them are so important and special. I’m going to stick to two for this post, but I’ll try to get to all of them.

Moments between Jester and Yasha are some of my favorites because they are often quiet and understated but so moving and powerful. Even though they’re so different, they have at least somewhat shared experiences (being captured, not getting to say goodbye / feeling like they could have done more for the party, Jester being the only one to see what Yasha went through). They both worry about not being good enough, they both put on a brave face for the others, and I think they provide each other with a sense of… comfort? Safety? Jester painting a mural of flowers in Yasha’s room knowing what they mean to her, Yasha talking to Jester about her developing feelings, lingering behind the party feeling scared and uncertain and neither of them really knowing what to say but just letting their guard down and existing together… I don’t know. There’s just something fascinating about their bond that gets me every single time.

And then there’s Fjord and Jester. She’s known him the longest, and they know things about each other that the rest of the group doesn’t (or didn’t, in some cases, as they have opened up). He was the first person she had feelings for, a crush turned something much more meaningful. They haven’t fully figured it out, what with her trying to move on after her first bout of jealousy and seemingly unrequited love (and the understanding that the love stories in her fairy tales are just that – pretty stories), only for him to come to his own realization and seemingly start pursuing her, but they’ll get there. Regardless of what happens romantically, their connection is so lovely. Fjord, an orphan taught to be tough and stoic, who never really had a childhood, who was so unsure of himself that he changed his voice and filed his teeth. Jester, who radiates light and love, who sees the good in the world and just wants to make others happy, who was raised to be confident in exactly who she is (a cute little blue tiefling who loves dresses and unicorns and donuts, and who could absolutely eviscerate anyone who dares hurt the people she cares about). From the soft moments of encouragement, to literal healing and saving, they’re always there for each other.

jester being shaken by her conversations with lucien is understandable. also it’s heartbreaking to think about how she’s the one to hear and see bad things happen to and/or because of her friends. it’s a lot of pressure and a lot of helplessness.

just thinking about jes and winter. there’s a certain indescribable magic about the first snow, but she loves watching subsequent snowfalls too. she is very chaotic. when it snows, though, she is still. she curls up in the window with a cup of hot chocolate and wide eyes.

with her friends she loves building snow people, making snow angels, playful fights, and ice skating. jes is in her element in winter, basically.
