feel free to send me your headcanons (for different shows)! I love seeing them and it might encourage me to watch smthn new! anything I write is likely to end up here, with a link to an AO3 account where I also upload it - for the sake of I'm starting to learn how to use AO3 and have an account there now lol
This exists cuz I wanted to write an au eventually and all I know is I wanted Jhad for some reason in it
Plz help me lol
Not an MD exclusive blog, despite the unintentional branding lol
Please send me your headcanons! I love seeing them!
Feel free to send me art - or suggest/offer other pfps at any time, I haven't fully settled on one yet
I am on mobile so notifications do sometimes just get eaten-
Don't mind me forgetting this blog exists - CHECK OUT MY COOKIE RUN KINGDOM AU ON @crk-soulsealed please
> current project: heal my relationship with writing, I've realized it's pretty bad atm :(
> next project: how tf do I do a hyperlink list? Idk. I'll find out.
Additional stuff under the cut lol
Gonna make a short list of what I've got I think:
MD Siren au - centered around my oc with the current nicknames Siren and Mouse but no official name yet
MD HD Thad - Thad is a Disassembly/Worker Drone hybrid!
MD Drone Tessa - Tessa was always a Drone - she was literally built to be how she is?
MD Eldritch Phoenix - the AS of canon ends up in an alternate timeline as a Drone baby/child on Copper-9 after losing to Uzi - what shenanigans will I put them up to??
MD Murder Puppy - Uzi (or someone else) finds a discarded and deactivated N somewhere and manages to reactivate him - with new code and admin perms that make him a protector to the Colony rather than an attacker of it!
MD: Ghost Codes - co-op project with @15depressedducks (ha, get tagged èwé)
MD: Solvent - something isn't as it seems... and someone else is pulling the strings
MD: Poverty - someone else adopts the original Host of the Absolute Solver... who are they and what will happen?
Adding some non-MD AUs I have:
Hello, Ninjago, I'm Seffi: a Ninjago AU that follows a Displaced-type protagonist - someone who was cosplaying their Serpentine hybrid oc at a con, bought a Serpentine General staff, and passed out to awaken in Ninjago. There are going to be a lot of ocs, a lot of headcanons, and a lot of noncanon things used as though they are canon
Ninjago: Species Swaps: a Ninjago AU where none of the Ninja are human :D (I am working on an entire new species for this)
Ninjago: Changed Elements: an AU I'm kinda working on cuz I don't particularly like how the Elemental Compass is set up :/ - also because I feel like Wojira should be powered by more by Lightning than by Wind, and that constitutes some serious Elemental Compass reconstruction lol
Ninjago: Demon amongst Snakes: au with an oc I made, who is an Oni that likes and has decided to take on the form of a Serpentine :)
Ninjago: Time's Redemption: au I wanna write where Acronix gets at least an attempt at a redemption arc. Really feel like he could've been a good guy...
Stories that I don't feel right calling AUs:
Minecraft; the Hub Worlds: a story of what can actually happen to your deleted worlds, and where they go. However, something has happened, and it's up to our protagonists to save the Core World and all the inhabitants!
Mine Wars!!!: it's got star wars elements and minecraft elements and uh idk screw you /j
I will be doing less on tumblr for the foreseeable future as a direct and tangible result of the reblog update made recently by @staff who claim they are "listening to us" over on @changes but I feel the OPPOSITE OF LISTENED TO
Tumblr is rolling out a new reblog/notes system that completely disregards creators. In their new system, they're taking a twitter-style approach where reblogs will have their own notes that DO NOT contribute to the original post's notes.
Because of this, creators will no longer be able to see an accurate display of likes/reblogs/etc. This is completely altering the way feedback and responses to works are going to be received on this website.
If you come across a fan work that you enjoy, please take the extra step to go to OPs original post, and leave your comment/like/reblog there. Or go one step further and send an ask to OP directly to tell them what you liked!
I really hope Tumblr staff reverses course and reverts to the original reblog system for the sake of the large base of creators who use this site to share their works, but until then, please be considerate and make sure the creators here see/feel the love.
You were, supposedly, destined by prophecy to become a hero in service of the goddess. You absolutely hated it, but you weren't given a choice. When your duty was finally fulfilled you got to meet the goddess, who commanded your bravery and sacrifice for volunteering for such a dangerous task.
"I didn't volunteer for shit," you say, exasperated and annoyed, "I was forced onto this path from the time the paladins found me at the age of 3!"
"Wait, what?" The goddess looks confused, and.. angry, "They grabbed you at the age of three?? That is not what I told them to do!"
"Well, it's what they did!," you cry, "I never had a childhood! It was training, training, and more training!"
"How awful! It seems it is time I make some consequences, then," she responds, before instructing you to take a seat upon her throne and rest. "The servants will get you whatever you wish to request," she states loudly, then she turns to leave the temple for the first time in a thousand years
Alright I have been enabled so I’m gonna say somethings.
Fatalistic sarcasm is a thing, however, it usually hides deep feelings of insecurity, and whether you consciously recognize this or not, it validates them. Seriously, I used to constantly make jokes about how other people’s work was better than mine, and it did nothing for my self-esteem, it was a tool to deflect from my own feelings of inferiority and it actively worked against me thinking critically about my own and other people’s work. If it was a joke I could put myself down instead of analyzing why someone’s work was better and trying to incorporate that into my own
As someone who took creative writing courses I was constantly surrounded by other brilliant people, if I hung my head in shame every time I read something as good or better than mine I never would have lifted it.
As someone who has watched a lot of writers with very good idea’s crash and burn I mean it when I say you either develop a healthy sense of respect for your own work or you stop writing.
There’s three things I really wish more people consider
1. Do you think their work is better because it’s a different style, one that you like? There’s an element to ‘the grass is greener on the other side’, I have seen people work in some amazing styles that I wished to god I could replicate, some I managed, some I never did, but there’s nothing wrong with either. having a different style Is Not the same as having a bad style, each has their own strengths and you can admire one without putting yours down
2. Knowing someone who is a better writer is a blessing and if they knew you were using their work to bring yourself down they would not be happy, mooch off that friend, analyze their work, ask them to edit your shit, as long as you’re not annoying them be shameless about it. the best thing creative writing did for me was give me the confidence to ask people to critic my work and shamelessly better each other for that sharing
3. People need to normalize being confident in their work, the quality of your work has literally nothing to do with your worth as a person, the quality of your work has nothing to do with your worth as a writer. You can write something really shitty and the only thing I’d say to you is that your trying and I respect you for that
writing advice i live by (as someone who writes as a hobby):
your first draft is allowed to be awful. let it be awful, you can always improve it later.
if you’re writing as a hobby, it should be enjoyable and not feel like a chore.
if you’re stuck on a scene and can’t get the words out, skip it. write a note for yourself to come back to it later and move on to the next scene. sometimes you just need to look away from the scene and come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes for the words to flow again.
that also applies to finding the right words and metaphors.
consuming media is one of the best cures for writer’s block.
another thing that helps writer’s block is asking yourself: “what is the most fun/best/most devastating thing that could happen next?”
do not rush your writing. quality work takes time, so don’t ever beat yourself up for being a “slow writer”. it’s always worth taking your time building the right plot and finding the right words to make something you’re proud of.
you’re allowed to take a break from your writing. writing is hard work and burn out happens. take a break if you need, and come back to it when you’re ready. writing is not a race.
writing a story/plot you love > molding your plot to trendy tropes you don’t enjoy.
when you’re writing as a hobby, your work doesn’t need to be perfect. it just needs to make you happy. that’s it.
having more words doesn’t mean higher quality work. don’t feel bad for having a low word count.
if you like your own story, chances are others will too.
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
idk who needs to hear this, but low engagement does not mean your writing is bad.
engagement doesn’t solely depend on the quality of the work. whilst it can play a role, other things such as fandom, ship, tags, tropes and posting at the right time of the day/week play a SIGNIFICANT role.
so keep writing what you love. keep writing what makes your heart happy. your work is amazing. the fact that you’re even putting words out there is amazing.
There are only 2 rules when it comes to writing fanfics:
Write whatever you want.
Have fun doing it.
That’s literally it. There is no “show and don’t tell”. There is no “make it realistic”. There is no “fit in with the trends”. And of course, there is no “write as fast as possible to keep up engagement and please others”.
No.
Most fanfiction writers are not professional writers. This isn’t a job, we’re literally writing for shits and giggles. We don’t have a team of editors behind us to make our story perfect. Fanfiction isn’t about creating the most perfect plot with the most perfect prose and the most perfect pacing.
Fanfiction writing is for you first. To make your heart happy. Other people just get the benefit to also enjoy it if they wish.
That’s it.
Write whatever makes you happy, with whatever writing style you want, whenever you want.
saw this being debated and just wanted to talk about it too.
"is it rude if I politely ask a writer if they use ai or chatgpt on their works because I'm almost certain they do?"
yes, it is rude. no matter how polite you are being when you ask them this.
you say you are almost certain. so you are not absolutely certain.
unless you are absolutely, undoubtedly certain — with actual proof — that their writing is ai generated, never ever ask an artist if their work is ai generated.
I know several writers who would stop writing and delete all of their works if they were ever accused of using ai. so it doesn't matter if you are polite when you ask them this, you are suggesting that their works are ai generated, that they didn't create the works they could have spent hours, days, weeks, months or years working on.
ai and chatgpt are trained on real humans' works, they are trained to mimic the way real humans write. so if you say a genuine writer's work "looks ai", I'm gonna have to ask you what you think ai was trained on.
a writer whose English isn't their first language may also write in a way that "looks ai" to some, if they write in English and have to rely on translator.
using em dash isn't a sign of ai. I do it all the time. my fellow writers all love em dash.
having long paragraphs with "overly described scenes" isn't a sign of ai. I do it all the time, and so do my fellow writers.
all the "ai signs" are actually just what most writers actually do. they get mistaken for "ai signs" because sometimes the way writers write or describe a scene in a fanfic or an original work is different than the way people talk or text. because they're writing a fic and describing a scene, not chatting with a friend. the way I talk is different than the way I write my fics.
if you suspect a work was ai generated, but are not 100% sure, you can always just stop reading said work without saying anything.
if someone does use ai to write, they will either a.) deny and continue using ai to write or b.) admit because they see nothing wrong with it and continue using ai to write.
if a genuine writer was wrongly accused of using ai, they may stop writing altogether.
asking a writer if they use ai or chatgpt to write will always do more harm than good. witch hunting will always do more harm than good.
you are not "fighting against ai" by throwing around such accusations. you are harming genuine writers and artists.
all of the fanfic writers, whom I personally know, say the same thing that they would feel discouraged and might delete all their works if they were asked this.
it’s not “hey do you like x or y” question. it’s a subtle implication that your work looks like it was written by a robot within a minute. if you personally don’t find that offensive, that’s cool. but I know a lot of writers do. and they have the rights to be discouraged by it.
also we are talking about fanfic writers who write as their hobby, getaway or safe place, writers whose works you read for free. not writers who sell their works and are making profit from what they write. fanfic writers don’t owe you anything.
This just came across my dash. I'm going to be blunt.
Asking a writer or artist if they “use AI” is an accusation, no matter how you dress it up. It’s not neutral. It implies you think their effort, style, or voice is artificial. It implies that their human work doesn’t look human enough for you.
You don’t protect the community by policing people who are actually creating from scratch. You protect it by supporting human creators, reporting confirmed AI misuse when there’s evidence, and learning the difference between this sounds different than what I’d write and this is machine-generated.
Writers—especially fanfic authors—already pour their time, emotion, and identity into what they share for free. They don’t owe anyone proof of authenticity on top of that. And if your question makes someone want to quit writing, it’s not protecting the community. It’s shrinking it.
If you’re not 100% sure, just scroll. AI ethics don’t need to turn into public inquisition season.

I keep seeing the take that authors on AO3 need to stop deleting their fics and instead to orphan them without any explanation of the consequences of orphaning a fic and as an author I really need to say something to this.
Stop telling people to just orphan their fics.
Orphaning a fic means giving up any and all ownership over it. No way to claim it back, edit it or delete it. Yes it's an archive but an author should still have the right to delete their work if they feel like they don't want it to be up anymore.
Readers always scream for authors to orphan their fics instead of deleting because they feel like they have a right to the fanworks that is shared with them for free. If it's so important to you to not lose a fic, download it. Also comment and encourage the authors, instead of telling them to give up all ownership to their work.
To authors, if you think about deleting your fics, there are other options you should employ first. If you don't want it connected to your name, put it into an anonymous collection. As long as it's in there, noone can see you wrote it, you still can edit ot or delete it and moderate comments on it. You can even move it to anther account, just create another one, add it as co author and then take your main account off. Then you can still edit it from your second account but it's no longer connected to your account.
If you don't want it to show anymore put it in a unrevealed collection, that way, the fic won't show up but it's still there, you can still see it, read comments and make it public again.
If you feel the urge to delete your fic, try one of these options first and see how you feel about it after a while, you can still delete or orphan afterwards, but this hopefully makes your decision easier.
Only orphan a fic if you're 100% sure. This is permanent, there is no way back from that, AO3 support will NOT help you if you did it on accident or change your mind. Don't listen to people telling you to just orphan it, make very sure, this is what you want.
anyway the thing about fanfic is that it's not essentially bad or good; it's essentially amateur. some people are absolutely out there writing award-worthy prose (some fic writers ARE award-winning writers IRL!), but that's not the point. the point is that we're all telling campfire stories. it's a community, and it's a way to spend some more time in the worlds and stories that we love.
Uh anywho I mentioned a while back that I'm getting into crk, you can check out one au over at @crk-soulsealed and I'm conceptualizing at least two others rn :3 feel free to ask questions and uh idk reblog shit that I post about it ig
