My car has been with me since I was two years old. I literally don't remember a life without her, and now she's old and getting rusty. Her battery keeps dying and I'm getting more and more scared that I won't be able to save her. It may be silly to say about a car, but I love her so much and I don't want to lose her. She has been more reliable than any of my human family members have ever been. My car, my Bertha, I love you and I want to drive you for the rest of my life. You're the only car worth driving.
I want to make art with like. Compositions and stuff. Instead of just drawing characters standing there or jokes. But sincerity in my art scares me
Making art sincerely is scary but God it feels so good to make something meaningful to you but also something that looks GOOD. It's so so worth it because during the whole process of making it you're staring at something you love! Good luck with your art journey OP.

this bill will end democracy. It must be stopped
call your senators and keep calling every day. Tell them to vote no and tell them to do everything they can, including procedural actions and filibusters to stop it. Call over and over again with this message, whether your senator is red or blue. And get the word out to as many people as possible that they’ve gotta start calling too.
Actually do it. You have to call, write, email, whatever you can do. Don't just reblog this post.

They're wanting to change the definition of water to see which water would qualify under the Clean Water Act...I wish I was making this up.
What this means, in layman's terms, is that not all water or wetlands would be under environmental protections, so some could legally be dumped in, scraped out of, or otherwise harmed.
The comment period for this is pretty short (just a few days left!) so please submit comments asking for ALL water to be protected.
I talked a lot about wetlands in my comment, because I live in an area with a lot of small ones and each one has unique conditions, and also because I live in an area prone to flooding and wetlands are key in mitigating flooding. If you feel passionately about the water near you, that's the sort of thing lawmakers need to hear.
This is one that really needs comments, guys. It only has 33.
Try starting with something like "I am commenting to oppose the proposed change." and then explain why you think protecting water is important.
On April 16th 2025 the US federal government has proposed to change the interpretation of the endangered species act so that it no longer protects habitat.
This is open for public comment until the end of May 19th. Please comment and make your voice heard.
Wildlife need their habitat. If the ESA redefines harm so that habitat is no longer protected, the implications for wildlife would be catastrophic.
hi y’all i just wanted to put you onto this fundraiser for the buffalo nations grasslands alliance. they’re trying to recoup some of the funds for black-footed ferret conservation on tribal grounds that the trump/musk administration has frozen, which is impacting not only the conservation efforts themselves but the livelihoods of the people working on them. the frozen grant is 1.1 million but this fundraiser has a goal of 50,000.
the fundraiser has 24 days left and has only reached 2% of its goal with 11 donations. black-footed ferrets are an endangered lazarus taxon that was thought to be extinct from 1979-1981 before being rediscovered by accident. they’re a miracle of conservation and it would be horrible to lose them for good, not to mention (again) the impact of people working with these animals losing their jobs which is outlined in the fundraiser link. indigenous-led conservation efforts are extremely important for a wide variety of reasons and as someone in the zoology area i feel obligated to share this fundraiser to contribute to those efforts.
i know that things are hard right now and there’s a lot of people and organizations all across the world that need help, so don’t feel pressured BUT if you have extra money and you can contribute to this fundraiser or share it with people who can that would be great.
super cute black-footed ferrets ^
Boosting this here- black footed ferrets are perhaps a little more charismatic than we usually allow here, but they need all the help they can get!

So, a comparatively high amount of states are voting on the fate of ranked choice voting this year. Missouri is voting on whether or not to kill it, Alaska is voting on whether or not to keep it, and most importantly, Nevada, Oregon and Idaho are voting on whether or not to adopt ranked choice voting, with maybe Colorado to follow.
And if you live in these states, even if you don't want to vote at the top of the ticket, I urge you to get out there and vote in favor of ranked choice voting on all of them.
Like, the two-party monopoly is a big part of the reason why politics in this country is so shit, and a big part of that is our "first past the post" system making it basically mathematically impossible for candidates outside of them to win anything beyond a local or state level.
So, if you want to try and break the cycle of voting for the lesser evil, of bipartisan cruelty towards the Global South and the country's own citizens alike, we need to change this and we need to vote on it where we can.
With ranked choice voting, the cry will change "Blue no matter who" to "Blue can be your number two", and that's important. You can vote to send a message, without abdicating or aiding the opposing side.
If you vote Goat, you can still put another party as your number 2, and, at first, most of the elections will go to Dems and Repugnants, still. The third parties have a horrible ground game right now, and so you won't see a lot of Goats in the halls of Congress... but if 20% of Democratic votes started as Goat votes? They're going to take notice.
Update: Ranked choice will be on the ballot in Colorado this year. The Democrats are against it for reasons that are both unclear and stupid, the Green party is against it because they "might not make the ballot" and the Republicans are complaining that they'll have to be more moderate to get votes.
It's an amazing example of everyone banding together to say "we don't know how to hold on to power if we have to start engaging meaningfully with the process"
Ranked choice 100% takes power from parties, and I'm here for it.
