[DSMP] His Unfinished Symphony: a comic about a ghost of a man that had a dream
“Legacy. What is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.”
ghostbur my beloved <3
lil ghostburs!
undertaleboo
Our boy is a delinquent lol
ok but i want wilbur to come back and i want him to be PISSED. i want a wilbur who remembers, who knows what everyone did while ghostbur took his place and hates them for it. i want a wilbur who will look tommy in the eyes and tell him that his life is worth something, more than any war or any discs or anyone’s expectations. i want a wilbur who is furious at what these people have done to tommy and tubbo, to his brothers, and will try to keep them safe as well as he can. i want a wilbur who will snap at philza because how dare he use his guilt as a shield, if he really wished wilbur knew he was sorry maybe he’d bother to protect the children he still has. i want a wilbur who is fiercely and righteously angry, and isn’t afraid to let people know that.
# Let Wilbur go feral but in a good way this time 2021
It seems like Dream is unbeatable- Oh what's this? It's Wilbur Soot with a steel chair!!
Feral Wilbur (but good this time) pog?? pog!!
there are just so many possibilities for the ghostbur resurrection but i’m literally BEGGING for president Wilbur to be the version that comes back, or at least a version who has those same ideals
there’s not enough characters left who are willing to full force body c!dream and i really need the “suck it green boiiii” energy back in my life
so how about that last stream
i got the permission to draw full illustrations again and by god i will
posted these on twitter a week ago or so: fake bad apple screenshots!
why do i have the faintest feeling that ghostbur’s resurrection Won’t Work. a deep feeling of impending doom
oh no i’m sure it won’t. i’m just unsure as to what will go wrong. see: ghostbur ram skin
a lil bit ago i drafted a theory on ghostbur’s resurrection. pretty obvious stuff but i’m kinda curious as to what people think
From a canonicity standpoint bringing characters back to life could potentially go back on the permanence of death, and Wilbur has addressed this himself. Therefore, I believe that a necessary sacrifice will have to be made in order to revive Ghostbur, or else the idea of death, and permanent death, will be trivialized for characters with one life such as Tommy and Tubbo. It’s not just recreating the circumstances with which Ghostbur dies. No, something greater than that needs to be sacrificed–something with stakes and something permanent. I believe that they will require someone to sacrifice one of their lives to give a life back to Wilbur. Perhaps with the added condition that the person would have to have been close to the dead person at some point, in order to make it more difficult. Maybe with other things thrown in as well, just to make it harder or more serious.
Theoretically speaking it would be the easiest way to make death more serious, and more permanent, with the remaining off-chance that people can be brought back to life. The idea of bringing someone back to life could open a Pandora’s box, with Tommy and Tubbo’s potential deaths looming over the horizon, so Ghostbur’s potential resurrection has to be handled very carefully.
Now that we’ve established this, who would potentially be the person to sacrifice one of their lives? There are a few people very likely to, and other people that might be involved but probably won’t.
Philza: Although Philza will perform the ritual, it is highly unlikely that he will be the one giving his life away. As someone who only has one life, being Mr. Hardcore as he is, and has lived for so long with only one, it would be foolish and anticlimactic for him to sacrifice his life, even if it is for his son. Not to mention that he will already play a major part in the resurrection. There is no point for him to die when it is possible to have other people give their lives away and still live, especially when he probably has a lot to say to Alivebur, as his final meeting with him was…literally killing him per his own request. And the whole debacle with choosing a friend over family. Also, from a writing/character standpoint, it would be pretty pointless to have him die like that, not when he still has so much to tie up and relationships to explore.
Tommy/Tubbo: In the same way as Phil, giving their last life away for a resurrection would be anticlimactic and pointless. They have higher stakes than Phil and have a serious final goal to defeat Dream together, if it’s the last thing they do–in fact, it’s possible they may not play a part in the resurrection at all (although Tubbo has mentioned his intention to speak to Schlatt again). However, there is still much to resolve between those two–especially Tommy–and Alivebur, so although they may not participate in the resurrection, they both sure will have a lot to say. Also, if Tommy somehow takes over the Ghostbur resurrection arc, I am going to go full woof woof bark bark grr at him.
Fundy: Ohhhh boy. As we have seen recently, Fundy’s mental state has seriously deteriorated. After so long of being ignored and left in the dirt, it seems that the abandonment issues have finally caught up with him. He has become unpredictable and unstable, growing increasingly obsessed with the idea of making people pay–while still desperately searching for approval, which is likely why he wants to revive Ghostbur, whom he had a rather unsteady relationship with when alive. This level of instability and obsession is precisely why he has a possibility of giving his life away. Despite the fact that giving a life away would mean that he would only have one life left, it’s entirely plausible given his mental state that he is willing to do it for the chance of someone caring for him again. If no one (looking at you, Misferns) brings him back to his senses in time, he could deteriorate further just as his father did. He has nothing to lose–giving a life away would be a trivial cost to bring his father back. From a storywriting standpoint this it is highly possible that he will be involved in the resurrection. However, this may be unlikely, given that there will be other people with other motives to give their lives away and will probably be concerned for his state.
Eret: Although he was the first person to betray others back in early L'Manburg, Eret has grown to deeply regret what he has done, trying his best to rebuild relationships with those he has wronged (mostly to refusal). Although it was later returned, he willingly gave his kingship away for friendship and the will to help others, and has been pulled into the revival arc by none other than Ghostbur himself. He sees Fundy as a close family figure, and is very willing to do what he can to help Fundy have a father again, even if said father is not himself. Giving a life away could be his greatest chance at redemption, especially when he was responsible for taking lives away from them. Symbolically, it is a very deep statement. From a writer’s standpoint, Wilbur probably pulled him into the arc for a reason, and he will be the third person present when they try to resurrect Ghostbur.
(there are a couple more people i’m considering could contribute, including niki and ranboo, but i haven’t gotten around to writing it yet)
