Korean Through Song: Instagram Pt. 2
*note: I won’t repeat the chorus as it’s in pt 1 and this is already REALLY long and in 3 parts*
가사 Lyrics
복잡해
It’s complicated
틈 만나면 바뀌는 게
Changing when you get the chance
관둘래
I’m done
이 놈의 정보화 시대
this dang age of information
단단히 잘못 됐어
It’s totally messed up
요즘은 아는게 더
These days knowing more
괴로운 것 같은데
Makes you miserable
어휘/문범 Vocab/Grammar
복잡해 | complicated, dictionary form 복잡하다
틈 | a chance/a break/when you can
만나면 | if you meet, 만나다 dictionary form meaning to meet/encounter, ~면 meaning if
바뀌는 게 | changing, 바뀌다 dictionary form. 는 게 is a shortened version of 는 것이. The phrase is basically if you get the chance you’ll change, or change whenever you can
관둘래 | short for 그만 둘래, dictionary form is 그만두다 meaning to stop. So it’s basically slang for I give up, I’m over it, fxck it
이 놈의 | this dang. I really don’t know how to translate this well, so I looked up more official translations and they went with this dxmn so 🤷🏻♀️. 이 is this, 놈 is kind of like a rude way to say guy, 의 is possessive (’s)
정보화 시대 | information age. 정보 information, 시대 generation/age (the same word in girl’s generation)
단단히 | totally/firmly
잘못 됐어 | it was wrong. 잘못 together with no space is a fault/wrong/mistake, 되다 dictionary form of to become. So together the phrase is basically it’s completely messed up, it’s so wrong, or it’s definitely an issue
요즘 | these days
아는게 더 | knowing more. 알다 to know, 는게 again same grammar as earlier, 더 more
괴로운 것 같은데 | seems like it’s miserable. 괴롭다 to be painful/miserable, ㄴ 것 같다 to seem like/to think. (The 은데 has added grammar but really it’s just used to make stuff fit/flow… same with 는게 #rhyming)

가사 Lyrics
가면 갈 수록
As time goes by
너무 어려워
It’s too hard
나만 이런 건지
Am I the only one like this
클럽 말고 뭐
Not the club
영화 말고 뭐 없나 하다
Not the club, is there nothing else to do
결국 동네
Eventually the neighborhood
어휘/문법 Vocab/Grammar
가면 갈수록 | as time goes by. This is a set phrase, but know that ~ㄹ/을 수록 means as one situation changes, another changes too
어려워 | difficult. Dictionary form 어렵다
나만 이런 건지 | similar to the phrase 나만 이런 것 같아서 which meant it seems like I’m the only one like this, this means am I the only one like this as the ㄴ지 phrases it more as a question
클럽 | the club
영화 | a movie
말고 뭐 | noun + 말고 means not the noun, something else (whatever follows). 뭐 by itself means what but in this context would be like something else
없나 하다 | kind of like nothing exists we can do. So more naturally like there’s nothing we can do
결국 | eventually/finally
동네 | neighborhood. The phrase 결국 동네 is basically saying we’ll just end up in the neighborhood eventually/anyway

가사 Lyrics
내 맘에는 구멍이 있어
There’s a hole in my heart
그건 뭘로도 못 채우는 것 예
Nothing can fill that, yeah
난 지금 가라앉는 중 인걸
I’m sinking right now
네모난 바다 속에서
In a square sea
어휘/문법 Vocab/Grammar
내 맘에는 | in my heart. 내 is my and 맘 is short for 마음 meaning heart (feelings heart not literal heart). 에는 placing emphasis on the placement of where the hole is
구멍 | hole/opening
그건 | that. Short for 그것은
뭘로도 | so this is difficult to explain. Basically what 뭐 plus object 를 and 로 particle meaning to use or with in this sentence, as well as 도 being not even. So in the sentence not anything/nothing
못 채우는 것 | can’t fill. 못 again is can’t and 채우다 is dictionary form to fill. So the whole phrase is you can’t fill that with anything. Kind of? This doesn’t translate well sorry lol
지금 | now
가라앉는 중인걸 | sinking. 가라앉다 is to sink. 는 중 is present progressive, the ㄴ걸 is 이다 plus 는것을. So it’s just a double grammar thing but the full sentence is I’m sinking right now. Just extra emphasis that it’s happening NOW
네모난 | square
바다 | ocean
