âBut AilinâŚâ His voice was like a childâs, whining and upset. He absolutely detested work.
However, for his best friend, he simply could not reject her. Especially when she pulled that promise crap. Man, she and Alexius had him wrapped around their fingers. Just a flick of the wrist and he was obeying their orders. You know, like the animal he was. Obey the master, always obey. For you are a mindless animal and must do so, or else you are worthless.
â⌠It means everything to me.â He sighed out before turning to face her, forcing a smile and bowing carefully.
âOrder away at your faithful mutt, my dearest Ailin.â
"Thank you, Tacitus," She smiled gently at him, reaching for his hand and squeezing it gently. Yes, she played dirty, but only because she cared. If work wasn't done, he might lose his position as First Knight, and Ailin would rarely get to see him. Her stomach seemed to drop at the very thought of losing him; he and Alexius were her dearest friends, and she had no intention of ever losing them.
That promise meant everything to her, too, though she knew he knew that; that promise was more than just her dream of becoming like her father. It was made to ensure that the three of them would always, always be together, not matter what happened. She loved them so much, she couldn't bear the thought of losing either of them.
"You're my friend," She corrected gently, because he was. He wasn't just the animal boy she had found. He was Tacitus and he was her dear friend. "But I'll command you nonetheless!" Laughing slightly, she released his hand and stepped back. "First, we train together. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
