Virgil in his Angsty Villain Phase still trying to help people.

Patton’s pretending not to have a bad day. No one notices bc he’s really good at that but Virgil happens to enter the kitchen right as he does that thing, you know, where you wipe your eyes and take a deep, shuddering breath and paste on a smile and keep going.

And he owes this guy nothing, okay, Patton never wants him around any more than anyone else, but Virgil is remembering Patton being nice to him a time or two and he wants to help. So he goes to Logan and Roman and gives a spooky monologue that strongly implies that he’s done something terrible to Morality, all part of his grand plan to uh,,, hurt Thomas? keep him from having fun and realizing his dreams? or whatever everyone thinks he wants out of his life. muahahahaha. It is clearly too late to save Morality. Don’t even try.

So Logan and Roman, of course, go to see what the fuck Anxiety did to Morality. And they catch him in a stressbaking crying jag and Anxiety is largely forgotten while they help him to recover. With the support of his friends, Patton feels a lot better.

Chapter 3: Logan

AN: wow you guys really like this au… I was struggling with this one in the beginning but once I got going this somehow became the longest chapter??? Also, I’m trying to keep up with the taglist, but sometimes reblogs and comments get lost in between all of the other notes the chapters get. Chapter 1/Chapter 2

word count: 2144

summary: Roman and Logan talk, the sides have lunch- oh, look, somehow angst.

Logan hadn’t been able to get much sleep that night.

He waited at least half an hour after Virgil had left before returning to his room, not wanting to chance being discovered by the side in question. The logical side was restless, thoughts flashing through his mind as he pondered his discovery.

“Keeping things organized sometimes helps me not be anxious, Logan.”

Virgil’s eyes sometimes not quite meeting the rest of the sides’, just slightly off in any direction.

All the times Virgil hadn’t paid attention to facial expressions or glares directed at him until they were announced (if they were announced at all).

Surprise on the anxious side’s face when one of the others didn’t announce their presence.

And Logan had never seen Virgil read a book in front of him either, even though Virgil himself had confessed to reading quite a few works of literature, among other novels.

He would have to confront Virgil about it, obviously. But before that, another conversation was in order.

I work at Hot Topic and we had a white suburban dad in who was buying matching heavy metal/screamo band shirts for him and his teenage daughter and said “To be honest, I think this stuff sounds like garbage, but she likes it so we listen to it together and we’re going to the concert for Christmas.” And it was just really heartwarming to see him so involved in his child’s life and validating her interests.

I went though a goth faze in my teens (like most) and I wanted more than anything to paint my room black. My mom was supportive of my personal expression in terms of my clothes and hair and accessories but she was genuinely concerned about the toll a black room would take on my mental health (I was already prone to recurring depression at that point and still am). I begged for months to repaint my room, but she wouldn’t budge.

One weekend i spent with my dad and when I came back she had repainted my room. A beautiful deep blue on three walls (my favourite colour), lovely sky blue on the ceiling,and one wall was black. The black wall had been sanded smooth and painted with several coats of chalkboard paint. She gave me a couple boxes of chalk and told me to have at it. I LOVED that black wall and wrote on it every day. I drew on it, I doodled, I wrote out my favourite emo song lyrics, wrote reminders for myself, anything I wanted. It was my favourite part of my room and was something that it would have never occurred to me to ask for. It was something only my very creative and clever mom could have come up with and I’m still grateful to her for it.

In retrospect, a room of black walls would indeed have been encouraging a reacurrence of my depression and my moms answer was the perfect compromise. That black wall ended up being the most colourful part of my room.

he and Patton spend weeks trying to decide on the right dog/breed. Patton is in heaven because he gets to hug ALL THE DOGS but also he feels bad because the longer it takes them to pick a dog, the longer it’ll be until his kiddo gets his new best friend

Logan finds out about it and does research on the best breeds and how to train a dog to help someone with an anxiety disorder

they eventually end up with a golden retriever who they introduce to Virgil. she is the sweetest.

Virgil is like. so torn?? like really surprised and thrilled that the other Sides wanted to help and also this dog is a sweetheart, but also oh god do they think he’s so messed up he can’t handle life on his own?? he can’t say no to that cute face tho

and the dog’s face is really cute too (OH! OHHHHH!)

just having a warm fluffy pal around is really calming, but he’s surprised how much DPT helps

Thomas is really surprised the first time he calls Virgil and finds him sitting on the stairs with a golden retriever’s head on his lap, but he loves it 

she’s also trained to go get one of the other sides if he’s having a panic attack

one time Virgil was having a panic attack when the other three were with Thomas, so she went and found Deceit and tugged him to Virgil’s room. Deceit was like NOPE I’M OUT but he couldn’t say no to the doggy face so he went to the real world to be like “Virgil’s not having a panic attack and doesn’t need someone to help”. an adequately helpful slimy boi

In the vast world of comics, I wonder if there have been heroes with a “Groundhog Day,” type power. By that I specifically mean a hero who, if they die, immediately finds themselves waking up at the beginning of that day again. If they don’t die, they just continue forward through time.

I’m just thinking of how crazy it would be to have that hero on your super hero team. Like, you go to headquarters in the morning, and it seems like everything’s normal. But then you go to fire off a one liner, and they say it at the same time as you. And suddenly you know. Something went wrong.

And then one day you come in, and your heart drops as you see that their every move looks rehearsed. They answer questions before asked. They are totally aware of everything that’s about to happen. Imagine how scary that would be, realizing you’re starting a day that you’re team mate has failed to survive maybe dozens of times.
