• Solid day of training • Got my bench back up to 185 - my max from almost a year ago. • Lessons from the training floor... • Today was a less than optimal deadlift day. • Everything set felt heavier than normal and the bar speed was slower than usual. • This was my first time at my top weight - 435. • I failed to lock it out. (vid 1) • The whole focus of this day was to hit 435, though, and there was no way I was letting it beat me. • Now that I knew what it felt like, and what was lacking, I knew what to focus on. • I regrouped, focused on the tension and the drive, and locked it out - fixing some of the issues I’ve been dealing with recently on the top sets. • More musings for the “I’m too busy crowd”... • Today, I was too busy to train. • Lot’s of life and business stuff all morning into afternoon - things that couldn’t be put off. • When I finally got to my gym, I had less than an hour and a half before my client came in - less time than I am comfortable with to get a good, complete training session in. • I had the thought to hold off and hit it tomorrow, but I knew, If I only did what wad absolutely necessary in my warm up, and hit the session hard and focused, I’d complete everything I had to get done. • Any extra assistance work could get done tomorrow. • An hour and 15min later - all Primary and Accessory work, along with the important assistance work was done. • The remaining 10-15 min before my client was dedicated to a rapidly consumed post training meal and cleaning myself up.
