It’s unpacking some of what it means to be a ‘real girl’ and a ‘real boy.’ We get handed down these ideas of gender and sexuality: You’re supposed to be this or that. What happens if you float around the cracks and don’t fit into these narrowly prescribed things? … I believe in gender fluidity and sexual fluidity. … I don’t really identify as anything. I think you can fall in love with anybody. I don’t have anything to hide, but I’d rather the emphasis be on music.”
Annie Clark (St. Vincent) to Rolling Stone on Prince Johnny, gender, and sexuality. (via fuckyeahstvincent)
This class is aimed at creative people (filmmakers, photographers, artists, designers, digital media practitioners etc) who want to build on their knowledge and skills in order to advocate issues that you feel strongly about. We’ll be opening up the classroom in a number of ways, including providing talks and podcasts and openly working with communities of practice to share and build knowledge and resources. Our aim is to explore and encourage creativity as a means to challenge, provoke ideas and connect.
The course is built around the principles of Connectivism - through which networks play a fundamental role in the learning and knowledge process:
At its heart, connectivism is the thesis that knowledge is distributed across a network of connections, and therefore that learning consists of the ability to construct and traverse those networks. Knowledge is, on this theory, literally the set of connections formed by actions and experience. Stephen Downes

The whole culture is telling you to hurry, while the art tells you to take your time. Always listen to the art.
