He knew from first sight. A jolt as she ran in sweating and disheveled. This woman will change my life, he thought. Oh, and has she!
They are Claire and Jamie but so much more. It goes way beyond their characters. With the first look, first touch, first kiss, he knew that. Thank goodness she did too. Stolen glances and touches, her hand caressing down his arm, his grazing across her back.
That was the start. Then Christmas, their first and a friendly trip the Paris that becomes more. Slipping into her room, a late night talk that lets to their first kiss as Sam and Caitriona. A kiss that lets to more
He never knew it could be that way, two becoming one. Their flesh, heart, and souls combining. By the look of awe on her face, she felt the same. Confesses over a sweet pillow talk confirms it.
“I thought it just lust, and it was. But it was more. I knew that when I arrived in Scotland and saw you again.”
What it was they don’t name, not then. Now they are at their first fan event. She had confessed that, despite being a former model, she is uncomfortable in crowds. He promises to stay close to her. She bites on her fist as she is announced. A quick look at him and the assurance he is right behind her, allows her to step out.
He watches her recalling the smell of her, as he had breathed her in as their photos were taken. They way she clung to him. His. Hers. Each other’s. His name is announced and the nerves dissolve some as he hurries to her. They both seem to breath better at being back together. It was less than a minute but felt a lot longer. He places his hand on her seat, as close as he can to holding her. Her smile is brilliant.
A ton of questions, mostly answered by Ron and Diane. Then he gets one. Favorite Gaelic word. He doesn’t hesitate. He hasn’t told her. To shy and scared. Maybe this will do or be a clue.
“Mo ghràdh, my love.” He is flushed, on the verge of a giggle as he squeezes the water bottle between his kilt covered legs. He flashes a look to Caitriona, who is also blushing as an’ awwww’ raises around them.
Later, a bold lass asks a question that will be asked over and over, at nauseum. What is under his kilt. Caitriona grins and reaches for the edge of it. “Shall we see?” He stops her and as soon as his hand lands on hers, he feels it. This pulling between them, like petals opening to reveal the beautiful flower within.
As soon as they are back backstage, he pulls her into his arms. Their eyes meet. “Did you mean it. Mo ghràdh?”
“Aye, I love you Caitriona.”
“I love you too. Have since I walked back in and saw you.”
“Since your audition.” He presses her to the wall and takes her lips. Seven years and a marriage and children later, they still thrill to each other’s touch. The petal is still opening.
