Just wanna have a taste of this beautiful wine.
Euphoria:
It is a post-rock band from Tokyo, Japan (songs: Butterfly Track, Quiet Rain, Silence in Everywhere, Silent Roar, White Pattern, etc.)
It consists of Hiro Morikawa (guitar, vocals, programming), Shota Sato (bass) and Yosuke Kinoshita (drums). All of them went to the same school from elementary to high school. Therefore, they are not only band mates, but also longtime close friends. During the winter of 2001 when they were in the third year of high school, they established this band.
Its music sometimes has a lyrical, atmospheric and cinematic touch to it. It seems as if they sounded a silent roar and brought you fairy-tale landscapes with their music. With the name December, you can feel the chilly winter wind from Siberia. Just like you’re walking in the halo of a street lamp in the cold silence of a lonesome night. I can’t help looping it while I’m alone to let my imagination go wild. A true companion to bring your eargasm.
Hope you enjoy it : )

In 2006, when Melbourne duo Tom Iansek and Jo Syme, started playing songs together in the living room of Jo’s parents’ house. After a bit of a break, the two reconvened in 2008, this time with more instruments—electric guitars, drums, piano, mandolins and ukuleles—and a bolder, more expansive vision. What began as a few rainy day acoustic ballads in their first incarnation soon grew into an all-encompassing, genre-defying sound. Before long, the newly named Big Scary were writing anything they pleased—fuzzed-out garage rock; piano-led pop; intricate, pastoral instrumentals—each imbued with an effortless pop sensibility and lightness of touch that would quickly see the duo attract a strong following.
The third girl singer is Leah Dou (Jingtong Dou, 窦靖童). Since she was born in1997, she never loses public attention because her parents at that time are best-loved legendary Chinese musicians and singers.
Her mother Fei Wong is a singer-songwriter as well and also an excellent actress (mostly in Wong Kar-Wai’s movies like Chungking Express, 2046). She is always referred to by media as a “diva”. Her father is Wei Dou, a multi-instrumentalist and produces music across many genres. He first came to prominence as a member of the hard rock group Black Panther. Although departed, Leah’s parents still holds their influence in China and do their own project. They are artistic and avant-garde.
Maybe inherited music genes from their parents, at the age of 18, Leah Dou displays her talent in her works in recent years.
My Days also revolves around a teenage girl’s nostalgia of her carefree childhood, demonstrating her independent personality and attitude towards the big big world. Released in 2014, this MV was shot in a black-and-white retro style recording her hanging around activities by her won, which somewhat reveals her loneliness inside.
Chimes is Leah’s latest song released in May, 2015. With Leah growing up, we can see her singing changed from a mainstream crooning sound to a more psychedelic electro-rock style, which in many senses, captivates a growing number of fans. We can also see her music arrangement becomes more complicated and maturer.
Apparently she is a girl with an attitude. Whatever style she may follow in the future, I’m deeply convinced that she’s got an ever-promising career. (I’m such an avid fan!!!) Let’s look forward to her following development.

(Directed by Sophie Muller, the video shows Birdy with guests at a flamboyant mansion party, complete with masks, fencing and horses. )
The second girl singer is Birdy. Just like SOAK, she was also born in 1996 and composes all her songs as well.
Birdy
Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde (born 15 May 1996),known as Birdy, is an English singer and songwriter. She won the music competition Open Mic UK in 2008, at the age of 12. Her debut single, a version of Bon Iver's "Skinny Love", was her breakthrough, charting all across Europe and earning platinum certification six times in Australia. Her self-titled debut album, Birdy, was released on 7 November 2011 to similar success, peaking at number 1 in Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands. Her second studio album, Fire Within, was released 23 September 2013 in the UK and other surrounding countries.
Seeing from her experience, you would think she is a real music prodigy.
My song of choice is Wings which I think best presents Birdy’s music characteristic. In popular culture, this song was featured in trailers for Winter's Tale, Labor Day, the season five finale of The Vampire Diaries and one episode of Catfish: The TV Show. In 2015, it was also used as the soundtrack of the Lloyds 'Horse Story' 250 year anniversary advert, resulting in its return to the UK chart, reaching a new peak of number 8.
Lyrics:
Wings
Sunlight comes creeping in Illuminates our skin We watch the day go by Stories of all we did It made me think of you It made me think of you
Under a trillion stars We danced on top of cars Took pictures of the stage So far from where we are They made me think of you They made me think of you
Oh lights go down In the moment we're lost and found I just wanna be by your side If these wings could fly For the rest of our lives
I'm in a foreign state My thoughts they slip away My words are leaving me They caught an aeroplane Because I thought of you Just from the thought of you
Oh lights go down In the moment we're lost and found I just wanna be by your side If these wings could fly Oh damn these walls In the moment we're ten feet tall And how you told me after it all We'd remember tonight For the rest of our lives
Her voice is powerful and this song is also visually powerful. You can feel the pain and struggle in it and may wonder what story behind it. I’m very glad to share it with you.
‘A beguiling new singer songwriter reflects on the ups and downs of growing up – wistful, unsettling and mesmerising’ - Judging Panel
Young people is never tired from creating new things. They are fed up with something easily and always want to stand out to be different. So maybe the nature of being young is bound to bring wonders to the world.
In this passage and the following two, I intend to introduce three girl singers who I think are in possession of great talents and potential to be real stars.
SOAK
Better known as SOAK, Bridie Monds-Watson, is an Irish singer-songwriter born in Derry, Northern , in 1996. SOAK's music has been described as 'a vivid portrait of teenage deep-thinking' by The Guardian. She released her debut studio album Before We Forgot How to Dream in May 2015.
If you only look at her casual tomboy appearance, you may not take it seriously but if you really see the deep lyrics and her stunning ingenuity of composing songs, you must believe one day she’ll be a phenomenon.
And she really did it. With the Mercury Prize results announced on Friday 16 October, her album Before We Forgot How To Dream has been shortlisted in the ‘Albums of the Year’ in association with BBC Music . At the age of 19, SOAK has been nominated alongside 11 others including Irish artist Róisín Murphy, Florence And The Machine, Aphex Twin and former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes.
The first song that I listened to is Sea Creatures. The moment that I heard the melody, I couldn’t help to fall in love with it. Her voice and accent is also a little bit typically teenage.
Here are the lyrics:
Sea Creatures
The stars and moon Remind me of you I don't know what to say It might make you worse I don't understand What her problem is I think she's just a fish I know you get it bad You don't deserve this And I won't put up With their ignorance And they tell you They love you Well they don't mean it I don't think they know what they mean I don't think they know what love is Throw it around like it's worthless I don't think they know what love is I don't get this town Neither do you We should run away Just me and you Cause I don't get the people here They're curious They don't really care Sea creatures Interefere I wish they would disappear They don't know what love is Throw it around like it's worthless They don't know what love is I pray for you And you know I don't like Jesus Want you to get better Please, please get better For you, for me
Just like the lyrics show, SOAK expresses her own puzzlement regarding adult’s world. I guess everyone experiences the difficulty of comprehending parents’ way of dealing things. This song just vividly depicted the raw and experience of that feeling. Also, there is a beauty of simplicity in her composing style.
In an interview, she said, “Everyone thinks I’m depressed. But really I’m not,” laughs the singer. “The thing is that it’s a lot more difficult to write a sad song than a happy one. When someone positive happens to you, the tendency is not to write about it. Whereas with something bad, it’s rich material. You have lots you want to say. That’s where my music comes from.”
Maybe her age is the perfect time to look into souls and start all the conversation with the outside world. In her way, it’s music.
It’s really an intriguing album and I hope you’ll love it!

Exploring Our Power of Music
Music is something every human has enjoyed throughout history. There is easily a type of music for everyone too. Many of us take music for granted and don’t take the time to listen to the lyrics and understand their meaning. One may be surprised by the amount of people who view music more than just sounds or an art. Music, as many know, is a form of expression. People express different things through music to different audiences. Music can be seen just as important as language because people can relate to what the artist is conveying, therefore bringing everybody together. When one thinks of the things that are consistent in our daily lives, music should come to mind. It is said that music is one of the most important therapies in life. Music helps people understand the lives of others. This in return can help us learn more about what is going on inside of us and our feelings. Music plays an important role by giving its listeners an idea of the artist’s culture, background and personal experiences. There are important social ties with music such as going to concerts or parties, where music is essential for people to socialize. Music can introduce people to different perspectives about what is going on in the world. Music, in a way, expands the way people think. Music is a strong force for creative minds to flourish with creativity. In total, music is an important instrument for people to use as a power to express themselves in a way that will connect them to other people and change the course of each other’s lives.
Music is critical to a person by allowing them to experience and express feelings that can connect them with another person who is feeling the same way. This experience of expression through sound is very much a real power. I have found myself many times expressing myself through music. Even when I am just listening to music, I still express the way it makes me feel by just simple gestures. This expression of music has been essential in my life. When I was younger I did not have an easy childhood. My parents being separated was very difficult for me at a young age. My parents always fought and I felt that I was the cause. When I spent time with my dad on the weekends, I would listen to what he had playing on the radio. It was normally metal with occasional classic rock. I could relate the aggression in the music to the aggression I felt inside. As I grew older, I soon realized that I could let loose when I would listen to music; especially at concerts. I began going to many concerts, where I could freely let my emotions loose while listening to the music live. One of my interviewees had a similar feeling about music being an expression. When I asked her what music meant to her, she said “I feel that music is undeniably a way of expression. Several songs and even genres capture and express everyday moods and problems I struggle with.” And then she went on to say “When I listen to music, I feel that I am not alone. I understand that there are other people who experience exactly what I go through and music brings us all together.” This just proves that music is so powerful that even a personal expression could connect us to other people who share the same feelings with a song or artist.
Have you been to the gym lately? I ask this because if you have been recently, you can take a look around and see that a good majority of people are listening to music. The power of music can be a source of inspiration, motivation, and change. I know for me that when I am in need of inspiration or motivation, the first source I go to is music. I can already hear lyrics voiced in my head when something happens in my life. Once, while I was going through a very difficult breakup, music was the only thing keeping me motivated. I swear for that month and a half of grieving, the only thing that made sense were the lyrics to my favorite band, Under Oath. I know that I can go and listen to that song and it will change my mood or inspire me to change something in that situation. Another person I interviewed, who produces music, had a great insight into music. When asked where he would be without music, he replied “I would be the normal people you see walking around with no emotion no motivation to be or do anything with themselves. Music makes me motivated whether it’s to inspire me to just dance or get up and work on some of my own music. Without music I would have no aspirations considering music is a vital part of what I plan on doing for the rest of my life. I live, breathe, and survive for music.” I could literally feel the power of music coming from his statement. Music not only inspires my friend to create music, but it fuels a certain passion within him. This passion is drawn out by and only by the power of music. Without this power of music, my friend’s passion unfortunately, would be dormant. Jimi Hendrix, a famous rock and roll icon, once said “Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.” Well, Jimi really was not lying when he said music does not lie. Through his music, Jimi Hendrix changed the course of rock and roll in so many aspects such as stage performance and how rock and roll sounds today. It’s mind-blowing to think somebody’s music can influence decades of people to make music or to stand up for what they believe in.
Without the power of music, life would be dismal. Music is a force that seems to color the world a brighter place to live in. However, some of my critics may disagree that life would be dull without music. Some may argue that music is just a bunch of noise. Others could argue that music disrupts the natural sounds of the world. However the case may be, does the evidence I have cited prove conclusively that music makes the world a brighter, better place? I obviously cannot directly refute these objections but I have and will present evidence that suggests otherwise. When asked what life would be like without music, one interviewee answered “Without music in my life or in the world, life would be dull. I could not imagine a party without music, or no concerts being held.” Another answered plainly “without music I would be dull.” While it may be true that music is not everything to life, it does not necessarily follow the notions that music is just noise or that disrupts nature. I say this because music is human nature. It is one of the oldest ways that people have communicated and expressed themselves. Music is so ingrained in human culture in general that without it, people could simply not be themselves.
Since I can remember, music has been the cornerstone in my life. The power that music has is something serious to me. Whether I am moshing and expressing myself at a concert or contemplating my life with music to inspire in the background, I always know in the back of my head the impact music has had on my life. When I share my experience with music to others, I am very happy to hear others share similar experiences. I am reluctant to hear when somebody is taking music for granted. If there is a slight notion of doubt, I would recommend taking a closer listen; it could be a life-changing, powerful moment.
Can’t agree more. Music can touches our soul. It’s inspirational and motivational and always sharable!
Today I want to recommend a song from the Life Journey(in Chinese: 旅行团), an indie-rock band in China. It was written in Bossa Nova style. When you plug in your earphone, you’ll be welcomed by a brisk ocean breeze and warm sunshine on the back in a lazy summer afternoon. It’s like falling love and missing someone secretly. The loneliness inside would swell along the dreamy melody. Despite that, the whole tone stills seems to convey the love of life and melancholy of unrequited love.
Although the lyrics in French don’t sound that authentic, the overall effect turns out to be good.
About the Life Journey:
Formed in 1999, the Life Journey signed to Modern Sky in 2005. It has released 5 albums and 6 EPs. Lonely Day comes from their debut. Their music style varies from indie-rock to Britpop and ambient.

Many musician’s sing songs named as Wish You Were Here, but the famous one must come from Pink Floyd. As a matter of fact, this song was written to pay tributes to the former Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett. Before that, Syd had been suffering a serious mental breakdown. His crippling addiction to LSD had forced him out of the band in 1968, and a pair of solo albums did little to revive his career in the following years. Unfortunately, Barrett seemed to have lost his spark for good. His old bandmates could still feel his presence at Abbey Road after he left. However, his absence profoundly influenced Roger Waters and David Gilmour, who compensate much for the resulting album, Wish You Were Here, including the title track, to their AWOL friend. It’s all about friendship, kindred spirit and a genius lost.Just take a look at the lyrics.
A simple unspoken melancholy filled in the lines.
Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd
So,So you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell?Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish How I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here
These three versions of the song could unveil different interpretations of it.This first version in the form of reggae music sounds quite brisk and carefree but in a way makes a contrast between the sad lyrics and emotions, which to the ears sounds even sadder. The second is the original version, conveying the pity for their dear friend and the reminiscence of the good old days. The third belongs to Radiohead, which bears a distinct mark of their own style, strong sound effects embedded.Talented musicians and artists always like to act unrestrainedly and maybe that’s why hey throw their life and responsibility away to achieve a artistic beauty in their career or life. Without boundaries and limits, they create prolifically and they die young.

MICHELADA- The Most Refreshing Cocktail Drink
Hello fellow readers, thank you for coming across this blog and taking the time to read this post. I promise you will learn something new. Tonight I’ll share a new recipe, and I’m not talking about cake nor lasagna. Tonight is all about a cocktail recipe! And it’s no ordinary cocktail, but rather an international drink that I’m very sure will appeal to you.
I’m pretty sure that you love beer, but guess what?? I will introduce you to a beer cocktail that you will love even more than beer! So what is the name of this mysterious and incredible drink? It’s called MICHELADA. Huh??? Yeah, you’ve probably never heard that word before in your life- and I don’t blame you. There is not one restaurant in the entire U.S. where you’ll find a michelada (and if you do find one, please let me know). We are talking about the most famous Mexican drink (it’s not a Margarita as you thought!) It’s actually a michelada. A michelada is great for drinking with friends, at the beach, at a party, and in pretty much any occasion.
If you ever go down to Mexico, which is a pretty awesome country with a lot of cool things to do and visit, and if you happen to hang out with Mexicans during your visit, you will get my point about how basic, common and typical a michelada really is. You can basically drink it at any moment of the day- yeah, in the morning too. A michelada is actually the best hangover solution you can ever have, as your hangover will disappear within your first drink. So let’s cut to the chase… what is a michelada? What is the recipe? A michelada is a beer cocktail which is prepared with various condiments and ingredients. It’s not served on a glass nor cup, but in a 1Liter Mug. There are various kinds of micheladas as you can add different ingredients. But I’ll share the basic and most common michelada.
Michelada Recipe:
- 4 small lemons
- ½ salt teaspoon
- ¼ cup of tomato juice
- 2 spoons of Maggie Sauce
- ½ mashed cucumber
- 2 glasses of ice
- Tajin/spice chili powder
Instructions:
1.- Fill a 1 Liter mug with ice
2.- Add in the citric of 4 small lemons
3.- Add ½ cup of tomato juice
4.- Add 2 spoons of Maggie sauce
5.- Add ½ mashed cucumber
6.- Add ½ teaspoon of salt
7.- Add two bottles of your favorite beer
8.- Mix well
9.- Put lemon and chili powder or salt in the glass
10.- Enjoy the most refreshing drink at any time of the day or night!!!
Extra tip: You may add mango, pineapple, or any other citric/acid fruit you like instead of cucumber.
Looks great! I’ll try it at home and see if it works !!!

It's so cool
Wang Wen is one of my favorite post rock band in China. They are truly representative bands in the field in China. This week I wanna share one of my favorite hit of theirs.
It’s not a new track, but definitely a classical one.
With vague laughters of young crowds fading at the beginning, you may feel the high spirit among people but with the cold tinglings of triangle, you will gradually see a picture of the dark night with scattered stars sprinkling. And as the melody flows, with more string instrument coming in, the emotion grow more complicated. That’s what I love about post rock because you can focus just on the melody and the performance of all the instruments and the true emotion of the whole piece of music without disruptions by lyrics and human voices. In a sense, it does stir sense perceptions especially when you wanna a world of yourself to calm down and have a rest.
It’s like a exploration trek you walk alone but you are never lonely cause you’ve got the music.
This most beautiful part is the unknown.
You can just close your eyes, open your ears and wait for the climax to come.
