I love people
I’m gonna sound sappy here, and probably a little cringe, but oh my god. I love people. I love when people show their appreciation for a creator by making art or a fan project, and the creator shows their appreciation by supporting them and shouting them out. I love people. Someone’s speech at my culmination ended with the line “it doesn’t matter if you got any awards or medals, because your biggest accomplishment is being you.” I love people. I love the labors of love that are fanart, fan songs, and everything in between. People can be horrible, I know, but it’s so important to see the other side of that coin. Like the barista who gave me free brown sugar syrup in my Starbucks drink because it was her favorite drink, too. Like the boba shop worker who helped me customize my drink and gave me recommendations on my first time there. Like the people everywhere who refuse to lie down and take what’s happening in Palestine. Especially the people in Palestine. Kindness and compassion are what make people truly great, and every time I see it I have to just pause. I don’t really know where I’m going with this. It just comes from the feeling I get whenever people work together to make something they truly love. Like the Shorts War ARG. I was watching the Film Theory on it last night and I just couldn’t stop thinking “I love people.” People coming together and making something they love and letting the rest of us love it too. It is so special to me. The sense of community that comes from loving something, and knowing that you share that love with others. Like in the third episode of Generation Loss, when chat was asked to pick between live or die, and our first instinct was to tie the votes. We worked together in a situation meant to break us. Like the seventy people who came together to make the song Voices, all because of their appreciation for Technoblade. How people keep making fanart and refuse to let him be forgotten. It is so important to me that in a world that’s gone to shit, people are still loving. Angus from Night in the Woods said it best: I believe in a universe that doesn’t care and people who do. I love people. Free Palestine.
