Is this anything
On my post about raccoons not being able to be transgender, someone asked me if raccoons really have culture, or if that was just a joke. So, to answer here so that everyone can be in the know:
Yes! Raccoons do have culture! It often is passed down from mother to child, and can emerge between siblings, as well.
I will be discussing raccoon culture at my Dashcon 2 2 panel, Raccoon Patch Update 6.7, but I am actually researching and writing articles about raccoon culture currently and have made some pretty cool discoveries.
I got the game and now I get to feed my miis cigarettes too. >:)
I relate to this so much.
Miku Miku Self Destruct 💥
no fucking way
Fun fact: due to the ongoing financial support from the people of tumblr, critically endangered pygmy raccoons being rehabbed in Cozumel are now able to get vaccines for deadly diseases like distemper and rabies before they are released.
who up desiring me carnally
when I first made a lot of my internet accounts like my email and my Tumblr, I put my birthdate as 6/6/66 because I was 12-14 years old and an edgelord and a Murdoc Niccals kinnie BUT now I’m pretty sure all of my ad preferences think I’m a 60 year old divorced dad with erectile dysfunction
jax as a character doesnt really do it for me but i saw someone say that it's funny that gooseworx managed to make people care about a transfem character by disguising them as a tumblr sexyman and ykw that IS really funny actually
my parents always complain about how hot the dining room gets and when i tell them they should maybe replace the light fixture they get annoyed at me
like guys come on this thing has ten lightbulbs. that may be the culprit.
one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(
i think being able to pick through the things you enjoy and recognize when certain aspects of it are problematic or poorly thought out is really important and seriously helps your critical thinking skills, but i feel like a lot of people need to hear that you really, really dont have to go and look through "[x] critical" tags of shows you like, in fact most people who frequent tags like that and make entire blogs shitting on something you really enjoy and misconstruing every aspect of it are usually very miserable people who are just going to make you miserable. i don't think you're a weird obsessed fan that doesnt listen to criticism if you don't want to engage with that, and those people will only say that about people like you because they want you to feel bad. you don't have to give them that power!
like i have moral ocd and a lot of the time i felt like i had to engage with the most bullshit critiques of the things i enjoyed because i felt like i had to justify my enjoyment for them, and like. i do think knowing Why you enjoy something is important of course, but i don't think its healthy to have to do so to random strangers on the internet who hate you over something so inconsequential, lol. i really don't trust people who say fans of anything inherently can't listen to criticism, when some of the best critique is delivered inside the house in every single fandom i've ever been in
HONESTLY. I was just venting to some friends about this. I was having such a hard time discerning between the two. I’m a firm believer in the importance of pointing things out in media, that it has a big impact, can cause harm, etc etc. so I felt like such a hypocrite when I’d see people I just didn’t want to engage with because it felt like it was coming from a place of moral superiority and a ‘I’m better than you because I talk about __’ kinda attitude. Sometimes people only wanna call something problematic so they get politically correct points on Twitter dot com and don’t actually care about it.
I felt like such an asshole feeling that way because there would be valid points along with the more ‘okay I think we’re being unnecessarily harsh’ and I just didn’t. wanna discuss something with someone who’s being like that. I was like wow it’s so privileged and whiney of you to wanna not talk about this because you just wanna enjoy something when you’re a COMMUNICATIONS major and know how important this is. So you’re just a hypocrite?? And I have to sit and remind myself that people can make valid points and you’re in no obligation to engage with them if their behavior is triggering or upsetting to you (by behavior I mean tone/language use/intention). I enjoy analyzing media, I believe it’s important, it’s also okay if you just wanna /silly for a little bit. You can do both and only the former when you’re in the headspace for it. It doesn’t mean you don’t care.
I’m not a person who likes to engage in hate-rooted discussions I find the negativity a bit grating. Idk how to explain it but if all you do is complain about something it’s so. genuinely triggering to me (the CPTSD emotionally immature mother wound, I fear) and feels more like. all you wanna do is complain and not actually talk about what’s going on. It’s like complaining about a paint color and never repainting. If you don’t like the media just don’t engage with it? It’s okay to be critical but it gets to a point that even if you’re making good points it just feels excessive. If that’s what you wanna do on the internet go ahead, as long as you’re not attacking people, it’s just not my thing.
It can be hard to navigate the line of ‘I want to analyze media critically’ and ‘this person doesn’t actually want to have discussions and is only talking about it to shit on said media because they don’t like it/use it to seem like they care about issues’/‘this person is being condescending and I am under no obligation to give them my time/energy discussing with them’ or even just being triggered by something for whatever reason without my brain telling me I’m the worst person in the world and don’t give a shit about the genuine harm problematic media causes.
Idk. Just remember someone can bring up points that are good and that you agree with and you don’t have to engage with it. That doesn’t mean you’re ignoring it. It’s okay if you just don’t vibe with someone and don’t wanna have that discussion with them. You can still care and protect your peace. It’s okay to wanna have fun in fandom. These discussions don’t have to be bad-natured. If they (as in behavior and not what’s being discussed because problematic material is icky etc) leave you feeling icky, maybe it’s not the right person to be talking to. Don’t ruin your day over a post on social media. It’s okay to prioritize yourself and walk away.
I also get a bit frustrated when I see people complain about a fandom that’s significantly on the younger side for doing like. typical teen things. The 13 year olds on the internet aren’t the most objective and I beg we keep that in mind when discussing them or something with them. Not that kids aren’t capable of having these discussions or understanding them of course, but just in general remember who you’re talking to could literally be 12 and lack some life experience that helps build a less rigid worldview.
I went to noob island and nobody recognized you. They said you haven't been the same ever since you went Pro. Some even said you became Hacker. I don't know who you are anymore.
What the fuck is "parkour civilization"
Yes yes i know love is love. But they are still killing CHILDREN. over this.
its probably a normal sign for the economy that all of my adulthood fantasies are like "imagine having your own kitchen living room and bathroom to decorate" "what if i could get on a train" "maybe one day i could purchase a sturdy pair of shoes" "i should save and invest in a single bicycle"
